Supercharged Lamborghini Diablo VT Alpine Edition.

During the 1999 production year a special edition of the Lamborghini Diablo VT was built for the United States market only, this model was designated the Diablo VT Alpine Edition, with special Alpine audio equipment mounted in the Diablo.
Other special features were the use of Carbon Fiber for many parts visible on the outside, like the adjustable part of the standard rear wing and the air intakes in front of the rear wheels, which on these cars were chrome finished.

But the most interesting part about these Alpine Editions was the fact that only 12 would be built, each one numbered and being fitted with a plaque stating the serial number of the Diablo, the car seen on this page was the seventh built in the series, note that the very last one, number 12 was also finished in this stunning 'Rosso Vic' red metallic paint.

This very special red metallic was actually the same color Automobili Lamborghini SpA used on another limited edition Diablo, the 1999 Momo Roadster which was available in yellow and in this custom red paint, the stunning looks of this specific paint, it shows gold flakes when viewed in direct sunlight, combined with the chrome wheels of the Alpine Edition made this Diablo VT really stand out.

This limited edition Diablo was surely to become a collector's item from the start, since only 12 would be built, exclusivity was obvious, but the lucky owner of this one decided to have an unique Lamborghini, the standard V12 engine in the Diablo VT was fitted with a Supercharger system by Platinum Motors, they also performed a similar installation on a Diablo SV and recently on one of the rare Millennium Roadsters.
The resulting performance of this modified Diablo was awesome, outperforming just about everything that it might encounter on the open road, combined with the obvious advantages of the VT drivetrain it was still handling very well, some may prefer a rear wheel drive Diablo, but these can sometimes surprise their driver, while the VT stays more neutral most of the time.
