Although the Urraco P200 was a bit underpowered, there were still major competitors
in the 2 Litre engined sportscars. The Dino 208 GT4
was introduced and the Lancia Monte Carlo like
the Maserati Merak 2000 were all powered by detuned,
smaller engines to comply with Italian laws for under 2 Litre cars.
By this time two companies based in the U.K. were producing their small but powerfull
cars, the Lotus Esprit and the TVR
Turbo. And the German number one was also in this segment of relatively
small engined automobiles, the Porsche 911 was indeed
always a direct competitor to most Lamborghini's built.
