Lamborghini answered to the customers demands with the P300 version of the Urraco,
better finished and with substantially more power, but by now more companies found
the smaller sportcar market to be profitable. As with the P250, the
Dino 308 GT4 was again a major player later replaced by the
Ferrari 308 GTB which became a big selling hit
for Ferrari.
But the Porsche 911 Carrera was again in the picture.
Other makes introduced their sportcars, like the BMW 3.0 CSL
and the Mercedes 350 SL , although both were more two door coupé
models than true sportcars. French car maker Renault had their little very powerfull sportscar the
Alpine A310 V6 and of course the third Italian car maker
was back with his Maserati Merak SS in fact a true
competitor with the mid-engined layout like the P300 and the two Ferrari's (the Dino was
built by Ferrari as we all know).
