The Megatech idea of a Lamborghini powered Buggy.

During the relatively short period Automobili Lamborghini SpA was owned by Megatech Ltd, several new ideas emerged from the Far East, some better than others.
One of these 'marketing moves' was the introduction of a Lamborghini powered Buggy as seen on this page, the idea was to create several body configurations based on the same chassis and using a newly adopted modification of the legendary V12 engine.

This engine would be too large and excessively powerful to be mounted in a lightweight buggy for leisure driving, therefore Megatech Ltd announced they would literally 'cut' the Lamborghini engine in two or even four parts, creating a straight six cylinder or even a small but powerful three-cylinder engine. This creation was called the Modular Engine Concept, as described in the press release shown here.

These Lamborghini Buggy's would become available in four different versions, all shown here, a high power extra lightweight version for track racing as seen at the top of this page and even a four-seater version for all those families to enjoy on their Sunday drive to the beach. In addition, a 'normal' two seater and a two seat fun version with less comfort items would be marketed, even a soft top for those rainy days would be available.

This car could probably sell rather well, if you compare it to the Plymouth Prowler it does not look so weird after all, make a bodywork like to top one, with full covered front wheels and even the BMW Z3 and the Mercedes SLK could have some serious competition from this 'small' Lamborghini.

Sadly enough this idea never even reached the prototype stadium, it would be nice to see how this smaller engine Lamborghini could introduce the most elite exotic car manufacturer in the world into the lower priced market of the Porsche Boxster or the BMW and Mercedes area.
