Our selection for May 2005
The Lamborghini Countach LP400 by Minichamps.

This scale model has been around for a while now, but it is only rarely seen in shops ... because it was actually a limited edition 1/48 scale model of the legendary Lamborghini Countach LP400 made by Minichamps in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the founding of Automobili Lamborghini SpA.

Several companies, including Automobili Lamborghini SpA, made limited editions to celebrate these four decades of supercars, this stunning, numbered 1/48 scale model of the first Countach production model, the LP400, was made by Minichamps ... known for their very well finished models at a reasonable price.

They made exactly 3333 of these chromed models, each one with his own serial number, this one holds number 0545, which means it was a rather early production unit.
This one is currently in my personal collection, thanks to a fellow enthusiast from the United Kingdom I was able to obtain this rare model at a more than reasonable price ... considering it is a limited edition model, prices went up from the day it was introduced.

Keep in mind this is a 1/48 scale model, so no opening doors, engine cover or something like this, but you can still see a very detailed interior on these models, and each one was mounted inside a nice, black, cardboard box with specifications of the real car printed in the cover.

Conclusion : perhaps Minichamps aren't the best finished 1/48 scale models available, but considering their price they hold the best price/quality, they aren't cheap, but they are worth every penny. You could state MR models are better finished, and offer models in this scale with open doors / engine hood, but these are fixed in their open position ... and they cost a small fortune, especially those with the open parts.
So if you're looking for some nice scale models of your favorite Lamborghini, these Minichamps models should have their place in your collection, especially this rather rare limited edition Countach model, if you can locate one, don't miss that opportunity ...
