Auto-Moto-Italia 2002 - the STORY

If you are a car enthusiast and like Italian cars or bikes, you should have visited Auto Moto d'Italia 2002, the by now well known event for Italian style on wheels.

This yearly event gathered a very nice selection of Italian automotive art, ranging from bikes to super cars which naturally include the magnificent models from the marque with the raging bull logo, but that's not all.

Auto Moto d'Italia also shows Ferrari, Maserati, Fiat, Alfa and all kinds of cars that were originally built in this southern European country.

Again thousands of visitors came through the entrance hall, both enthusiasts and actual owners who wanted to take a look at the magnificent machines gathered here during the final weekend of October. Some came to find that last missing piece to complete their restoration project, others managed to add yet another scale model of a dream car to their never ending collection.

It's all possible at Houten, an entire hall was dedicated to scale models, folders, books and parts on Italian cars, but the main part was still the impressive collection of Italian cars, like a classic Maserati race car and one of the very rare Bugatti EB110 finished in a gorgeous dark red metallic.

But our main interest was of course the Lamborghini Club Nederland section, who for the occasion was populated by two stunning late model Lamborghini's, a Diablo VT 6.0 and a Murciélago 6.2, both finished in exactly the same pearl yellow metallic bodywork.

The Diablo featured a black leather interior with yellow stitching, while the Murciélago was finished with a very bright, yellow leather upholstery to complement the exterior color, perhaps a rather unusual combination, but stunning none the least. People either loved the looks of the Murciélago in this color combination or didn't like it, it's all a matter of taste I guess.

Note that the Lamborghini Club Nederland received a trophy for having one of the nicest stands during the event, and you must admit that their entire setup looked very business-like and modern.

Naturally there were other Lamborghini models shown too, like a nice dark blue metallic Jarama, which happened to be for sale by the way, this classic V12 front engine model still attracted a lot of attention despite it's age.

Next to the Jarama there were two V8 models parked, a late Urraco S and a very nice Jalpa with a white leather interior, two models that marked the entry of Automobili Lamborghini into the V8 market segment, and with the additional 'open-top' possibility of the Jalpa it would make a decent addition to anyone's collection.

In another hall you could admire a very special Diablo GT, this pearl orange metallic unit had a very nice, custom made air intake configuration on top of the roof, also the side air intakes were modified by the owner. Next to this one of a kind Diablo GT was another Jalpa located, this time finished in the classic red paint, an all-time favorite.

If you would like to show your Italian car, or just visit the next edition of Auto Moto d'Italia during 2003, please don't hesitate to contact the Lamborghini Club Nederland.
