The 2005 edition of Auto-Moto d'Italia can easily be called a big success, there were thousands of visitors over the two days, and one of the highlights of the event was the fact that none other than Giotto Bizzarrini was present on Saturday, Who was the original designer of the legendary Lamborghini V12 engine !
Naturally there was much to be seen at the Euretco Expocenter, all 'Made in Italy' and a large collection of Lamborghini's ... no less than ten car were on display, ranging from the early 350 GT (which was owned by the famous actor Nicolas Cage before a Dutch enthusiast acquired it), two 400 GT 2+2's, an Islero S, an early Espada Series II, an Urraco P250 S, a magnificent Miura S, the Countach 25th Anniversary, an early Diablo and a stunning Diablo SV.
Naturally the Lamborghini Club Nederland stand received a lot of attention, it is not every day that these exotic super cars can be seen in these numbers, and ranging from the classic models right up to the sensual Miura, the legendary Countach and the famous Diablo, with the 'Sport Veloce' version as a masterpiece.
Just open those trademark 'scissor' doors and the crowd grows ... open the engine cover to show the massive V12 engine, which is still based on the original design by Giotto Bizzarrini, and you nearly have to call 'crowd control' to keep them from falling over each other.
All Lamborghini's, especially the more exotic ones, draw a crowd no matter where you park them, and if you show as many as ten Lamborghini's all together the festivities begin, you'll see flashed everywhere, people are taking photographs to be able to keep looking at this stunning cars for years to come.
Naturally the Auto-Moto d'Italia event is also a great opportunity to obtain that missing part you've been looking for to complete your own Italian car or motorcycle, but an entire area was devoted to automobilia, ranging from those rare factory folders to magnificent scale models ... and in all price ranges, from the more normal die cast models like bBurago up to the more expensive ones like AutoArt or Kyosho ... it's all possible at Houten.
