An impressive 6.5-liter, 700-horsepower, V12 engine mounted directly behind two seats that are exposed to bright sunlight with you being seated behind a steering wheel that shows an impressive Raging Bull ready to attack just about anything it will encounter on the open road ... that's how you could describe the latest production model from Sant'Agata.
The Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster has been unveiled in late 2012 during a few private events that showed this brand new flagship model to a select group of VIP that all received a special invitation ... an official factory unveil to the general public hasn't occurred ... yet.
Monday, January 28. 2013 ... Miami Beach ... Lummus Park to be more precise ... a large black trailer adorned with gold Bull logo and 50th anniversary sign gets ready to show the impressive Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster to the public. Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and president of Automobili Lamborghini SpA unveils this beautiful open-top version of the current flagship V12 model, this specific model is finished in the new Azzuro Thetis paint by the way.
After the press conference in Lummus Park the ceremonies turned into a stupendously impressive parade down South Beach's Collins Avenue with no less than 50 Lamborghini in a row, all heading to the Miami International Airport runway for a high speed demonstration. Not only Stephan Winkelmann was present during the press conference, but also Maurizio Reggiani, Director of R&D, Raffaello Porro, Director Communications and External Relations, and Filippo Perini, chief designer.
On the airport runway the already intimidating row of Lamborghinis became almost dwarfed by the arrival of a large Boeing 777 from American Airlines. Thanks to the efforts of Miami-Dade officials and the FAA the entire setup and runway high speed demonstration didn't inflict any delays on regular flight arrivals or departures ... keeping in mind the Miami International Airport is the busiest one in the United States.
Stephan Winkelmann was very impressed with the entire event as he stated "It has been a great pleasure to work with the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and South Beach teams on today’s amazing demonstrations. I have never seen something similar at a Lamborghini event.", with the Aventador Roadster being the most exciting production car ever this Miami runway event was the perfect place to launch this model to the public.
The high speed run was made with five units of the brand new Lamborghini Aventador, reaching speeds up to 210 mph on the ground ... while an aircraft's takeoff speed is between 150 mph and 180 mph ... so the Aventador Roadster is able to outrun any current jet aircraft on the ground ... top speed of the Roadster is 217 mph, so the high speed run came very close to this.
