About ten years ago I was able to buy a 1/17 scale model of the Lamborghini Gallardo made by LEGO Racers (8169), this kit offered the option of building either the Coupe or the Spyder version, I went for the closed version for my display, I seem to remember they also had the Gallardo Polizia … over time this kit has become rare, and today these demand about €350 … while back in 2011 I paid €50 for it.

Since then we’ve seen the stunning Bugatti Chiron (42083) and Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) kits from the LEGO Technic series, both priced over €300 each … and now it’s time for the LEGO Group and Automobili Lamborghini SpA to partner up and give us a large 1/8 scale LEGO Technic model of a Raging Bull, listed as number 42115, with a suggested retail price of €379.99 to be available by June 2020 in the online LEGO store and by August 2020 in retail stores.

At this time there is no information yet on which Lamborghini model we will be able to recreate in those intricate LEGO bricks, some sources mention the Sian, but it could also be the Aventador SVJ or perhaps even one of the Huracan models … we’ll have to wait and see, but this kit will surely bring you hours of building fun and become a collector’s item over time once again.

Only recently has the first LEGO Speed Champions kit featuring two Lamborghini models been released, the 76899 kit contains the Urus ST-X concept and the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO model in a small scale (about 1/43), certainly not up to the standards we’ll be seeing from this soon to be released LEGO Technic set, but still it’s a Lamborghini branded LEGO kit.

I for one can’t wait to get one of these intricate LEGO Technic kits for my collection, putting it together will be a lot of fun, and some frustration probably, but the result will be stunning for sure … and if they do an Aventador SVJ in LEGO Technic, perhaps they offer a Coupe or Roadster version again, just like they did in 2011 with the Gallardo set.
