We have just seen the brand new 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ being unveiled in the United States in late August, but we’ve already seen the test mule for the Roadster version of this new V12 flagship, which might even become the swansong of the naturally aspirated V12 engine for Lamborghini as rumor has it the successor to the Aventador that will be shown in 2021 will be using a hybrid powerplant.
So we now know there will be 900 units built of the SVJ Coupé, and an additional 63 units of the SVJ63, a special commemorative edition paying tribute to the fact Automobili Lamborghini SpA was founded back in 1963 … however, some sources state these 63 units will be contained in the 900 units limitation … we’ll have to wait and see, we did hear that the SVJ63 will be the first to leave the assembly line, after those the regular SVJ will be made to order … all 900 units are sold out it seems.
So Lamborghini will release another model soon, the Roadster version of the SVJ will most likely be the very last edition in the Aventador line up, adding this open-top version of the Super Veloce Jota edition will most likely push the total production number of the entire Aventador series over 10,000 units … remember back in 2011 when the Aventador was introduced a rumor was started only 4,000 Aventador would be built … Automobili Lamborghini SpA had already doubled that number to date, and production is still going strong.
For the Aventador SVJ Coupé Lamborghini designed a completely new engine cover to incorporate the ALA 2.0 system, so we’re sure the SVJ Roadster will be getting a bespoke engine cover too, and just like the Coupé it will not be hinged, but be fixed with track-inspired quick-release fasteners.
Other than the obvious removal of the roof section, adding a Roadster specific buttress and a different engine cover, the SVJ Roadster will take most new parts from the SVJ Coupé, like that massive front bumper with active aero parts, the stunning side sills with the larger side intake and typical Y-shaped style, the big SVJ rear diffuser with those vertical stabilization fins and the higher mounted exhaust system that leads to a stunning rear wing … again with integrated aerodynamics.
I’m sure the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster will be a stunning V12 masterpiece, and just like the SVJ Coupé, there is no actual competition for these Aventador SVJ in this price range … anything that comes close or is able to surpass an Aventador SVJ will cost more than double … so the Aventador SVJ and Aventador SVJ Roadster will be unicorns on the market … marking the final production supercar from Lamborghini that is using the N/A V12 engine … the end of an era.
So people are lining up to buy the Aventador SVJ Coupé and Aventador SVJ Roadster, the 900 Coupé already sold out it seems, and while there are no numbers yet on how many SVJ Roadster will be built, it is safe to say you’ll have to hurry to get your order fixed with a deposit to secure a unit of the latest and greatest Bull to be built in the Aventador series.
There is talk about one more Aventador based hypercar to be released soon, the LB48H concept has been shown during a VIP, invitation-only event at the factory in Sant’Agata … production limited to 63 units with a price of $2,500,000 before taxes, Motor1 magazine mentioned a power output of 843hp by using the V12 with 789hp coupled to a 49hp hybrid system and a design inspired by the Terzo Millennio concept car … production of this new limited edition could start in late 2018 with first deliveries during 2019 … let’s hope the car’s public unveil will be at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March.
