Up next is a Centenario LP770-4 Roadster that should be unveiled in a few weeks in the United States … but next to the Centenario in Geneva was a matte blue finished Lamborghini Huracán … also a limited edition … but with all the attention the celebration model was receiving this special V10 just didn’t receive the attention she deserved.

Fast forward a few months and the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Avio gets introduced in the Far East … Lamborghini Hong Kong put together an impressive launch event at the Ritz-Carlton to unveil this limited edition V10 model to their customers, with only 250 units of the Avio available worldwide a limit of 15 units has been set to be available to Lamborghini Hong Kong.

We’ve all known the styling of several Lamborghini models was heavily inspired by the world of aviation and aeronautics, so pairing the two in a special edition Huracán does make sense, add the L63 logo for ‘Lamborghini’ and ‘1963’ with the tricolor cockade just looks amazing on the bespoke Italian Air Force Academy inspired paints available on the Huracán Avio only.

As a standard option a Grigio Falco is available, a pearl metallic gray, but optionally four matte paints are possible: Blu Grifo, Grigio Nibbio, Grigio Vulcano and Verde Turbine … the two cars shown in Hong Kong were finished in Blu Grifo over a white livery and Verde Turbine with a grey livery … as an Ad Personam option you can have an orange livery too by the way.

The Huracán Avio shown in Geneva had glossy black Giano wheels, the two units in Hong Kong both show silver chrome Giano wheels, but the Mimas wheel is also possible as an option to the already impressive list of standard features on these special edition V10 models: for the Hong Kong market the Avio comes with LDS (Lamborghini Dynamic Steering), the Magneto-Rheological Suspension, front lifting system, parking sensors both to the front and the rear and a rear view camera among others … but those can all be added to a regular Huracán too.

The Huracán LP610-4 Avio comes with a range of bespoke options that makes this model really different from the rest: the rear view mirrors, side sills, front sword come in either gray or white together with a set of color-coded stripes that run from front to rear. Also the L63 logo and cockade are unique to this model.

That same cockade returns on the seats inside as embroidery, while the seats show a laser-engraved hexagon pattern on the special Alcantara that is combined with leather … all black with contrasting white stitching … but again the Ad Personam Studio would be more than happy to help you put together a different combination for the interior.

The Lamborghini Hurcacán LP610-4 Avio edition is now available to order, but keep in mind we are talking about a limited edition model, so don’t wait too long to sign that order form.

China is still one of the most important markets for Automobili Lamborghini SpA, the Huracán achieved an historic sales record in 2015 with 2,242 units delivered to customers … in fact in the first 18 months after the introduction the Huracán outsold the Gallardo by 70%.

After being in production for only two years the Lamborghini Huracán range has already been expanded to cater for different customers, the original LP610-4 model is still selling steadily, but for the more demanding driver, with 580hp going to the rear wheels only the driving experience is amazing.

The Huracán LP610-4 Avio is a limited edition taking inspiration from aviation, available in a series of special, matte shades with special striping and logo, the Avio will only be built 250 times and can reach speeds over 325 km/h just like the regular LP610-4 model.

For the MY2016 the Lamborghini Huracán there have been some modifications, like the ‘Cylinder on demand’ feature that can deactivate cylinders when their power is not required, also a ‘start and stop’ has been implemented … when standing still at the red light for instance the engine stops running, only to be activated again when you accelerate. A new electronically controlled all-wheel drive setup on the LP610-4 versions improves driving behavior further.

Alongside the Lamborghini Centenario, the Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 Avio will make its debut at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Produced in a run of only 250, this special edition’s name, colors and materials pay tribute to the world of aviation and aeronautics

From the outset, Lamborghini has been inspired by powerful fighter jets, from which it has borrowed technological, aerodynamic, ergonomic and stylistic solutions. References to the aeronautical world in Lamborghini’s current product line include digital instrument clusters; controls located on the center console as in airplane cockpits; the red engine ‘start’ button; the tight stylistic language of exterior lines; and a broad range of matt exterior finishes.

The new Huracán Avio offers a host of premium functional features in its standard configuration including lifting system, cruise control and GPS*. But the true uniqueness of the Avio lies in its interior and exterior finishes. White or grey painted details contrast with the body color and enhance exterior details such as the tops of the side member, the side view mirrors and the lip on the front spoiler. A double stripe, again in white or grey, runs along the roof and down the front bonnet.

The door panels further identify the special Avio version with the logo L63, where L stands for Lamborghini and ’63’ is the year the company was founded. A tricolor cockade, the symbol distinguishing nationality used in aeronautics, is placed between the letter and the number.

The Huracán Avio is available in five new color variants, specifically developed for this model: the standard color of Grigio Falco with pearlescent finish, and four optional matt colors: Blu Grifo, Grigio Nibbio, Grigio Vulcano and Verde Turbine. The colors’ names are taken from the coats-of-arms representing courses at the Italian Air Force Academy. Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customization program allows owners to choose from further color and trim options not included as standard.

The interiors alternate black leather with a special Alcantara, which is also in black but boasts a laser-engraved hexagonal motif, available for the first time on the Avio. The material covers the central section of the seat, the armrest, the knee support and part of the door panel, and is enhanced with contrasting stitching in white. The L63 logo is embroidered by hand onto the sides of the seats. The interior color and trim can also be customized through the Ad Personam program. Underscoring the exclusivity of this new special edition is a hand-enameled plate on the driver’s side window.

The Avio has all the technical specifications that have made the Huracán a great success: aspirated 610 HP, 5.2 liter, V10 engine; 7-speed gearbox with double clutch; hybrid chassis in aluminum and carbon fiber; a power/weight ratio of only 2.33 kilograms per hp and breathtaking performance: 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds and a maximum speed of over 325 km/h.

The Avio is scheduled to reach dealers’ showrooms in the summer of 2016.

In fact, we already published information on a special version of the Huracán being the Avio after we heard a customer ordering such a car in the UK and saw a cockade with the word Avio being trademarked by Automobili Lamborghini SpA we learned it would be a very limited edition but nothing about style or finish was available until March 1. 2016 when Stephan Winkelmann unveiled the car in Geneva, Switzerland.

Turned out our idea of a Huracán Avio being related to aviation of some kind was right, this limited edition takes inspiration from fighter jets, hence the tricolor cockade and L63 script on the side of the car and on the seats L for Lamborghini and 63 for 1963, the year Automobili Lamborghini SpA was founded by the late Ferruccio Lamborghini, whose 100th birthday was celebrated with the Centenario that was shown at the same time in Geneva.

As standard fitment the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Avio can be ordered in five special shades, Blu Grifo (matte blue), Grigio Falco (glossy dark grey), Grigio Nibbio (matte light grey), Grigio Vulcano (matte grey) and the very special Verde Turbine (matte green) all of these shades can be ordered with either a white livery, a grey livery or a really nice orange livery all shades are inspired by courses found in the Italian air force academy.

Just in case you’re not a fan of these 5 standard shades you can always opt for the Ad Personam program and select just about any shade possible to match the special Avio interior that comes in a combination of black leather and Alcantara with contrasting stitching white on the Blu Grifo car shown in Geneva that featured the matching white livery.

Note that the center section of the seats, the central console, the knee protection pads, and part of the door panel show a stunning hexagon pattern that has been engraved into the material by laser a first at Lamborghini, while the L63 and tricolor cockade are embroidered by hand on the side bolster of the seats and a special plate shows the limited edition 1 of 250 nature under the small window behind the driver.

The Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Avio will come standard with a host of items that are optional on the regular Huracán, like the front lifting system, cruise control, and in some markets, even the GPS navigation system, making the special paint options and bespoke interior treatment almost free of charge when compared to the regular production LP610-4.

The first Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Avio should be arriving in the showroom in a few months already can’t wait to see that matte green in real life.

Lamborghini Huracán Avio was a limited edition model released in 2016, with only 250 units produced. Its price at the time of release was around $245,000 to $260,000. Since it is a limited edition, its current value may vary depending on factors like mileage, condition, and rarity.

Remember the photos of the Reventon next to Italian fighter jets and the fact the styling for the Aventador was influenced by the F22 Raptor jet … naturally the promo film for the Egoista made the transition from fighter plane to single seat car a reality … so aviation has been playing a role in earlier Raging Bull.

Add to this a post on the Lamborghini-Talk forum about a customer in the United Kingdom buying one of only two Huracan Avio available in that country and the link between the trademark registration and a limited edition Huracan model is quickly made.

According to this customer the Lamborghini Huracan Avio will be a limited edition to be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show, remember that is also the worldwide premiere for the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 … the car to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the late Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of Automobili Lamborghini SpA back in 1963.

So will Lamborghini come up with two ‘Special Edition’ models at the Geneva show in a few weeks ? If we believe the word online they will, apparently the Huracan Avio will be limited to 250 units (remember the Gallardo SE back in 2005) for the world, and only 2 would be available for the UK market.

There is no mention of price nor any specifications or design clues … but if the Huracan Avio becomes a reality it will most likely be available with a number of bespoke standard features and have a limited color palette to choose from … however I’m almost certain a Verde, a Bianco and a Blu shade will be available.

We’ll have to wait until early March 2016 to see if this rumor is true … will we have both the Centenario LP770-4 and the Huracan Avio on display in Geneva?
