Automobili Lamborghini SpA has a history of creating unique and special cars. Back in 2012, they introduced the Aventador J, a one-off V12 model based on the flagship Aventador, but with no roof and a very low windshield. It even came with a helmet. In 2013, Lamborghini unveiled the Veneno Roadster, producing only nine units, again with no roof.

In 2016, Lamborghini released the Centenario Roadster to celebrate the 100th anniversary of founder Ferruccio Lamborghini, limiting production to 20 units and once again, not offering a roof. By 2020, they came out with the Sian Roadster, with only 19 units made and all sold out before the press release. Like its predecessors, it featured a true topless design without a canvas top. Lamborghini continued the trend of not including roofs in their ultimate V12 Roadsters.

The latest in this series is the Lamborghini SC20, a one-of-a-kind car made by Squadra Corse for a lucky customer. Before the official press release, it was clear from the first image that the SC20 had no roof or windshield, not even a low one like the Aventador J.

Damon Fryer from the YouTube channel DailyDrivenExotics (DDE) took this concept to the next level by creating his own Lamborghini Huracan Evo Aperta with 840 hp. He started with a brand new Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD Spyder and removed the front windshield completely, turning it into an Aperta. To enhance its performance, he installed a VF Engineering supercharger, increasing the power output from 610 hp to 810 hp. Additional modifications included Vorsteiner front fenders with forged carbon louvers, Vorsteiner side skirts, 20-inch V-FF 109 wheels, and an FI exhaust.

So What makes the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Aperta unique compared to other Lamborghini models?

The Huracan Evo Aperta is a unique and custom-built Lamborghini model that stands out for several reasons:

Roofless design: Unlike standard Lamborghini Huracan models, the Evo Aperta features a completely open-top design, removing not just the roof but also the windshield. This creates an unparalleled open-air driving experience.

Custom creation: The Huracan Evo Aperta is not an official Lamborghini production model. It was created as a one-off custom project, making it extremely rare and exclusive

Based on the Huracan Evo RWD: The custom build uses the Huracan Evo RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) as its base, which is already a special variant of the Huracan lineup.

Windshield-less configuration: In addition to being roofless, the Aperta version removes the windshield, creating a truly unique driving experience that’s not available in any other Lamborghini model

Exclusivity: As a one-of-one creation, the Huracan Evo Aperta is arguably one of the most exclusive Lamborghini models in existence

This custom creation fills a niche that Lamborghini itself hasn’t officially addressed, as the company hasn’t produced a fully open-air supercar in this manner. The Huracan Evo Aperta combines the performance and technology of the Huracan Evo with a radical open-top design, offering a driving experience that’s distinct from any other Lamborghini model.

Are there any changes made to the stock engine of the donor Lamborghini Huracan Evo?

Yes, significant changes have been made to the stock engine of the donor Lamborghini Huracan Evo for the Huracan Evo Aperta project. The most notable modification is the addition of a supercharger. This aftermarket enhancement dramatically increases the engine’s power output by forcing more air into the combustion chambers, resulting in greater horsepower and torque compared to the naturally aspirated stock engine.

Here’s a detailed breakdown of the changes:

Supercharger Installation: The supercharger is the primary modification, which boosts the engine’s power significantly. This component increases the amount of air entering the engine, allowing for more efficient combustion and a higher power output.

Exhaust System: The car is equipped with an FI exhaust system, which optimizes exhaust flow and enhances the engine’s performance. This system also provides a more aggressive and exhilarating exhaust note.

Tuning and Calibration: To ensure that the engine operates smoothly with the new supercharger and exhaust system, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) likely underwent extensive tuning and calibration. This ensures that the engine parameters are optimized for the increased airflow and power output.

Cooling Systems: Enhanced cooling systems may have been installed to manage the additional heat generated by the supercharged engine. This can include upgraded radiators, intercoolers, and oil coolers to maintain optimal operating temperatures.

How much more power does the Lamborghini Huracan Evo Aperta make?

The Huracan Evo Aperta, thanks to its supercharger, cranks out a hefty 810 horsepower. That’s a big jump—180 horsepower more—compared to the standard Huracan Evo’s 640 horsepower from its V10 engine.

While we don’t have the exact torque numbers, it’s safe to say this supercharged beast is packing over 500 pound-feet of torque. This extra power and torque mean the Huracan Evo Aperta delivers even better acceleration and a more thrilling driving experience than the standard model.

What are the key benefits of the VF Engineering supercharger for the Lamborghini Huracan EVO Aperta?

The VF Engineering supercharger for the Huracan EVO offers several key benefits:

Significant Power Increase: The supercharger boosts the Huracan EVO’s power output from the stock 630 horsepower to between 830 and 850 horsepower. This is a substantial increase of up to 220 horsepower, transforming the car’s performance capabilities.

Enhanced Torque: The kit also increases torque to between 600 and 625 lb-ft, providing a more robust and responsive driving experience.

Bolt-On Installation: The VF Engineering supercharger kit is designed as a bolt-on system, meaning it can be installed without extensive modifications to the vehicle. This makes the upgrade more accessible and less invasive.

Reversibility: The system is fully reversible, allowing owners to return the car to its stock configuration if desired. This can be beneficial for resale value or if the owner wants to maintain the car’s originality.

Advanced Cooling System: The supercharger includes an air-to-water after-cooling system to manage the increased heat generated by the additional power. This helps maintain performance and reliability under high-stress conditions.

OEM Quality Integration: VF Engineering uses state-of-the-art technology and production techniques to ensure that the supercharger integrates seamlessly with the Huracan EVO’s V10 engine, providing OEM-quality results.

Improved Acceleration: With the supercharger, the Huracan EVO’s acceleration times improve significantly. For example, the supercharged Huracan can achieve 0-60 mph in approximately 2.4 seconds, compared to the stock model’s 2.9 seconds.

Durability and Reliability: The kit is designed to be durable and reliable, with features like a PTFE rod for a free-floating concept in the heat exchanger, ensuring consistent performance over time.

Damon Fryer, founder of Daily Driven Exotics, shared on Facebook that the owner of the Huracan Evo Aperta wanted to sell the car because he was moving abroad. The offer came at a price Damon and his team couldn’t resist, so they decided to buy the car back. Once they had the car, they faced a dilemma since it wasn’t practical for everyday use. They took it to Fast Track Auto Care, where it was restored to its original state using all the stock parts.

However, they kept some of the custom features, like the Vorsteiner front fenders with forged carbon louvers, Vorsteiner side skirts, and 20-inch V-FF 109 wheels, giving the car its distinctive look. Now, with the windshield and a soft convertible top back in place, the car is more practical.

With these updates, the car is ready to be sold to a new owner.

The Lamborghini Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder: Celebrating life in the open air

Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) for open air driving fun and freedom

610 hp (449 kW) and 560 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 s with a top speed of 324 km/h

Spyder design enhancements optimizes drag reduction and downforce

Lightweight soft-top in true Spyder form delivers pure lines and aerodynamic efficiency with roof both open and closed

Roof operable up to 50 km/h: open-air driving enhanced by sound of naturally aspirated V10 Lamborghini engine

Automobili Lamborghini reveals the new Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder virtually, using for the first time Augmented Reality (AR) on its official website lamborghini.com. The new V10 model provides drivers with an open-air celebration of lightweight engineering, with rear-wheel drive and a specially tuned Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS). Roof up or down, daily driving and high-performance fun are accompanied by the inimitable sound of the V10 aspirated power plant, delivering the same 610 hp (449 kW) and 560 Nm of torque as the coupé version. With a 0-100 km/h acceleration of just 3,5 seconds and a top speed of 324 km/h, like its coupé stablemate the Spyder is an instinctive driver’s car, delivering a fun-to-drive experience via hardware rather than software.

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s design optimizes the integration and function of the extremely lightweight soft top. The Spyder is a true Lamborghini with roof open and closed, sporting inimitable lines from every profile that confirm it is as dynamic in both looks and performance whether roof on or off. The Spyder’s exterior lines ensure drag reduction and downforce matches that of the coupé without requiring additional aerodynamic appendages, while enhancing the rear-wheel drive car’s balance and dynamism with roof both up and down.

Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, comments: “The Huracán EVO Rear-Wheel Drive Spyder doubles the driving fun, delivering raw driving pleasure with the opportunity to celebrate life outside. The driver is perfectly in touch with Lamborghini’s engineering heritage, experiencing the feedback and engagement from the set-up of a rear-wheel drive car where electronic intrusion is minimized, while enjoying the sense of freedom and spirit of life that only open-top driving provides.”

Driving fun in the open air

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is specially engineered as an instinctive driver’s car, still producing top performance figures but focused on the pilot’s skills and the set-up of the rear-wheel drivepowertrain, providing unfiltered physical feedback and maximum engagement. The specially tuned P-TCS traction control system is designed for adrenalin-producing performance in all conditions, consistently delivering torque and assuring traction even as the Spyder is realigning after sharp cornering or drifting. Especially with the roof down, the driver’s senses are further aroused by the sound of the V10 aspirated engine responding to the throttle during maneuvers.

The Huracán EVO Spyder’s ANIMA button on the steering wheel puts the pilot in control of driving modes, with the P-TCS calibrated to suit. STRADA provides stability and safety in all conditions by minimizing rear-wheel slippage, and more proactively managing torque delivery on low-adhesion surfaces. In SPORT mode, the driver enjoys drifting fun, allowing the rear wheels to slide and skate during acceleration, with torque limited when oversteer angles increase rapidly so the driver can stabilize and control the car. CORSA mode optimizes the car’s traction and agility when exiting a corner in high-performance conditions, maximizing dynamics and speed.

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder’s aluminum and thermoplastic resin body sits on a lightweight hybrid chassis in aluminum and carbon fiber, with a dry weight of 1,509 kg and a weight-to-power ratio of 2.47 kg/hp. Front/rear weight distribution of 40/60, with double wishbone suspension with overlapped quadrilaterals and passive shock absorbers, providing optimized driver feedback. Ventilated and cross-drilled steel brakes are fitted to 19” Kari rims with specially-developed Pirelli P Zero tires, with optional 20” rims and carbon ceramic brakes.

Designed for life

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder continues the V10 Lamborghini’s powerful design with new front and rear features, clearly differentiating it from its Huracán EVO 4WD Spyder stablemate. Characterized by a new front splitter and vertical fins within the larger, framed front air intakes characterize, the rear bumper in high gloss black incorporates a new diffuser unique to the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder.

The Spyder’s soft-top roof stows within 17 seconds under the rear hood, even while driving up to a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph). In a range of color options, the soft-top perfectly complements the rear-wheel drive car’s body lines and color options, while ensuring a quiet cockpit for easy conversation and entertainment with roof up or down. With soft top both up and down the driver can also electronically open the rear window, which functions as a windshield when up and highlights the V10 engine’s unique sound when down. Two removable lateral wind shields dampen lateral aerodynamic noise in the cabin, permitting conversations even at high speeds.

An HMI 8.4” touchscreen in the Spyder’s center console controls the car’s functions as well as providing comprehensive connectivity for telephone calls, internet access and Apple CarPlay.

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is a driver’s car and a lifestyle choice, complemented by virtually limitless colour and trim options through Lamborghini Ad Personam, allowing owners to personalize their car to their exacting tastes.

Price and market delivery of the Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder

When Automobili Lamborghini SpA unveiled the Huracán EVO RWD in January 2020, we all knew there would be a Spyder version in the pipeline too, it took them another 5 months to virtually unveil the new for 2020 Lamborghini Huracàn EVO RWD Spyder, a rear-wheel drive convertible supercar, giving you the opportunity to enjoy that howling V10 behind your ears even better sitting in the driver’s seat of the latest from Sant’Agata.

Back in January I already made a virtual render of how the EVO version of the RWD Spyder would look, it wasn’t that difficult as we all know how the conversion from coupe to spyder took place on the original Huracán LP610-1, the first RWD or LP580-2 and more recently the Huracán EVO and it seems I was right the EVO RWD Spyder looks exactly as I imagined five months ago.

Highlights of Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder comes with the same modified front and rear section when compared to the all-wheel-drive Huracán EVO, and also a power decrease to 610 hp compared to 640 hp on the EVO. Also note the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder comes standard with ventilated, cross-drilled steel brakes behind 19-inch Kari wheels, carbon-ceramic disk brakes, and 20-inch wheels are optionally available.

The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder still uses a soft top when the competition has turned to panels, but a folding soft top does remind us of the real spyder models from the past, and when closed the experience is very close to the coupe anyway. In a mere 17 seconds, the roof can be lowered or raised, even when driving up to 50 km/h (31 Mph) the top is available in a range of different shades by the way.

Naturally, the large, 8.4 inch HMI touchscreen is still present on the central console inside the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder, the epicenter for the multimedia system today controlling telephone, internet access, Apple Car Play, a way to change settings and naturally a complete navigation system.

In case the long list of regular options available on the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder isn’t enough to satisfy the customer, the Ad Personam team will be more than happy to increase the base price of this car to unseen heights.

Performance

The Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is a high-performance sports car that combines power, speed, and style. Here are some of its key performance features:

Engine: The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that delivers power to the rear wheels.

Acceleration: With its powerful engine, the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 201 mph.

Handling: The car’s rear-wheel-drive system gives it a more engaging driving experience, allowing the driver to feel more connected to the road. The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder also features an electronically controlled limited-slip differential and Lamborghini’s ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligence Management) system, which allows the driver to switch between different driving modes (Strada, Sport, and Corsa) to adjust the car’s handling and performance to their liking.

Brakes: The Huracán EVO RWD Spyder comes standard with carbon-ceramic brakes, which provide excellent stopping power and reduce brake fade during intense driving.

Suspension: The car’s suspension features a double-wishbone design and magnetorheological dampers, which use a magnetic field to adjust the viscosity of the damper fluid in real time to provide a comfortable ride and excellent handling.

MPG & Fuel Economy

The Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is a high-performance sports car that is not known for its fuel economy. According to the EPA, the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder has an estimated fuel economy of 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.

It’s important to note that the fuel economy of the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder can vary depending on driving conditions and driving style. The car’s powerful 5.2-liter V10 engine consumes a lot of fuel, especially when driven aggressively.

Huracán EVO RWD Spyder is not subject to fuel economy regulations in many parts of the world due to its classification as a high-performance sports car. As such, many owners of this type of car prioritize performance over fuel efficiency.

Interior & Exterior Design

The Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD Spyder features a striking and aggressive exterior design that is sure to turn heads. The car’s low, wide stance and sharp angles give it a bold and menacing look, while its retractable soft top adds an element of versatility and style.

The front of the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder features a signature Y-shaped LED headlight design and a large, hexagonal grille that serves as an air intake for the engine. The car’s sleek, aerodynamic lines and sculpted body panels give it a sense of motion even when it’s standing still.

Moving to the interior, the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder features a driver-focused cockpit that is both luxurious and functional. The car’s seats are upholstered in premium leather and offer excellent support and comfort. The dashboard features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that displays information such as speed, RPM, and navigation. The car’s infotainment system is controlled via an 8.4-inch touchscreen display and includes features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity.

The interior of the Huracán EVO RWD Spyder also includes a number of unique design elements that are characteristic of Lamborghini. These include hexagonal motifs on the seats, dashboard, and air vents, as well as a start/stop button that is covered by a red flip-up cover that is reminiscent of a fighter jet’s missile launch button.

Automobili Lamborghini SpA is preparing to unveil a new model during a virtual press conference on May 7, and while I was hoping for the limited edition Sián Roadster to be released … it is more likely we’ll be getting the Spyder version for the Lamborghini Huracán EVO RWD instead, a little less exciting I have to admit.

I already rendered how the RWD Spyder would look back in January of this year when they released the Huracán EVO RWD version … turning the coupe into a Spyder doesn’t take a lot of imagination as we already have the Huracán EVO and EVO Spyder for comparison … so adding a top-down edition of the EVO RWD version isn’t the sensational Raging Bull we’re waiting for.

There has been a lot of talk about the Huracán STO, the Super Trofeo Omologato, a street-legal derivative of the famous Super Trofeo race car, but it might take a few more months before we finally see this top of the line V10 without her camouflage disguise, while we’re also eagerly awaiting the arrival of the V12 track car the Lamborghini Squadra Corse has been developing lately and let’s not forget a Urus Hybrid evolution is also still in the works.

A new Lamborghini Huracán version has just been unveiled, the Rear-Wheel-Drive only EVO edition, and up next will probably be a Spyder version of this RWD model, just like they did on the original Huracán RWD, or LP580-2 as we also know it.

I don’t think the styling of the EVO RWD Spyder will be a surprise, we’ve seen the EVO and the EVO Spyder being unveiled very close to each other, so most likely the EVO RWD Spyder will be available very soon too, with deliveries starting in the Summer of 2020, still with the well-known canvas folding roof.

I don’t think we’ll be seeing a convertible hardtop version of the Huracán anymore, this is probably reserved for the successor to the Huracán when it arrives, or Lamborghini sticks to the canvas roof, this is also a possibility.

After the Huracán EVO RWD and a possible EVO RWD Spyder I’m sure we will still get a more powerful EVO Performante edition before any news about a successor gets published, and let’s not forget the rumor about the Huracán STO, the Super Trofeo Omologato, the street-legal derivative of the Super Trofeo racecar, just like the Gallardo STS back in the days.
