By the time we finally got to see this homage to the Countach prototype of the Seventies, all of the 112 units were already sold, at an MSRP well above $2,000,000, and while you might think that will be an ‘all-in’ price, think again, there are still multiple options available that will increase this bonkers price tag even further, but somehow, I don’t think any of the 112 customers that signed the order form worried about adding a few more personal touches.

It seems that buying a multi-million dollar, limited-production car from Lamborghini does come with a few additional perks, while you are waiting for your bespoke Countach to arrive, deliveries started in April 2022, you’ll receive one of 112 numbered replicas of an exclusive painting created, as per tradition, by Mateusz Wowk, exterior designer and artist at Lamborghini’s Centro Stile, led by the Head of Design, Mitja Borkert, and you even receive a personal letter from none other than Stephan Winkelmann congratulation you on acquiring the latest masterpiece made in Sant’Agata.

My guess is, that by the time you are reading this, all of the 112 units of the Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 have been built, and Linea Aventador inside the famous Sant’Agata factory is being converted to build the first run of ‘pre-production’ units for the successor, the next-generation V12 flagship, that will be a hybrid, and could be named Revuelto … only the future will tell…

But the Miura story started in late 1965 already, when Lamborghini showcased a first iteration of the Miura chassis at the Turin show, at that time with Borrani wire wheels mind you, and history would have it this chassis never had a body installed onto it, it remained in the same shape as in 1965, disappeared out of sight for decades, only to surface again after a complete restoration in 2010 to be subsequently sold in mid-August 2013 for $473,000, a real deal for such a piece of Lamborghini history, I’m sure over the last decade or so, the value has doubled already.

The Lamborghini Miura was built between 1966 and 1972, first as the P400 model (350 bhp, 275 units), from 1969 onward as the more powerful P400 S model with 370 bhp, and from 1971 on we got the most interesting version, the Lamborghini Miura P400 SV, for Spinto Veloce, now with 385 bhp, but sadly only 150 units of the latter were built, making it the most sought-after, and most valuable of the series (apart from the special order SVJ models), rumor has it when the Lamborghini Countach prototype was unveiled at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show, and Ferruccio got overwhelmed by the interest for that futuristic yellow supercar, he decided not to order too many Miura bodies from Bertone, and instead focused on the development of the Countach.

Sadly this meant only 150 units of what is considered to be the best Miura iteration of them all would be built, and production was halted in 1972, while it would take Lamborghini another two years to get the Countach LP400 ready for sale by 1974, I’m sure that if Ferruccio had decided to keep the Miura SV in production until 1974, we would have seen many more units, but now the entire Miura production totaled at less than 1,000 units, and one of the most valuable Lamborghini in history is in fact the one-off Miura Roadster, valued at $10,000,000 back in 2013 by renowned Hagerty Insurance.

Chris Harris, a famous journalist from Top Gear magazine in the UK, selected the Lamborghini Sián as the Electric Car of the Year during their Electric Awards, by now most of the 63 units from the Sián and the 19 Sián Roadster have been delivered to their customers, and Lamborghini is in the process of final homologation of their new Countach LPI 800-4.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise the very successful Lamborghini Urus Super SUV took a leading position among all the Lamborghini models, awarded for the second consecutive year by readers of the prestigious German magazine Auto Motor und Sport as Best Car in the Large SUV category (imported car category), and as Best SUV in the imported car category by the German magazine Sport Auto. It was also recognized by OFF ROAD (DE), which designated it the OFF ROAD AWARD in the Luxury SUV category.

It doesn’t seem the Lamborghini Aventador got any new awards this year, and we’re all waiting for the successor to be unveiled, but the Huracán V10 is still a steady selling supercar, which reflects with the Huracán STO being awarded twice by Motorsport Magazine (FR) as Sports Car of the Year and as Best Engine 2021, this fame was further enhanced by the CarBuzz website (USA), which designated it the 2021 Track Weapon.

And it wasn’t just the flagship V10 model that received acclaim this year, the Huracán EVO RWD version was awarded by the prestigious Robb Report (USA) as Sports Car of the Year 2021, and as the Best Convertible for 2021 by Robb Report Singapore as part of the Best of the Best competition; and by CarandBike magazine (IN) as Sports Car of the Year.

And we’re getting ready for some replacements as we speak, we all know the Aventador will be the first to be succeeded by a V12 Hybrid model, most likely towards the end of 2022 or early 2023, and we’re also on the verge of seeing the Urus facelift being introduced, and there are even rumors about a more sporty Urus version with a wide-body style, and we have to admit the fact the Huracán will be seeing a successor shortly after the Aventador, and while it’s been confirmed this will be another hybrid, there is no official confirmation we’ll still be getting a V10 engine … only time will tell.

Between 1974 and 1978 a total of 150 of these narrow body, Countach LP400 Periscopo were built, in 1978 the Countach S, or LP400 S was introduced, after Walter Wolf, a Canadian millionaire with a famous F1 team had two Countach LP400 modified to use wide Pirelli tires on massive Bravo style wheels … Lamborghini saw the potential of such an extreme interpretation of the original Countach that they made it a production model … intended to be built alongside the LP400, but after customers saw the more aggressive LP400 S, orders for the ‘non-S’ dried up and Ferruccio halted production.

The Stig might have pushed the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento a bit too hard initially, however in the end he went on to set a lap time of a staggering 1:14 behind the wheel of this magnificent limited edition V10 Hyper Car.

Note this happens to be the second fastest to go round the track just behind the Pagani Huayra at 1:13.8 … unfortunately as the carbon fiber finished Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is not legal to be driven on the road Top Gear decided to remove this stupendously fast lap time from their board.
