A Red Flag Compressed an Entire Race Into Twelve Minutes

Round 9 at Laguna Seca rewarded the team that read the clock best.

Sheena Monk's crash at the Corkscrew brought out a red flag, and when the field reformed, only 12 minutes of green-flag racing remained with the mandatory pit window opening immediately.

The gamble that decided the race

Edoardo Piscopo in the No. 50 US RaceTronics entry stayed out while rivals pitted, pushed the window to its limit, and handed the lead to co-driver Taylor Proto — then a spin by Cameron Cassels in Turn 5 triggered a full-course yellow that ended the race under caution.

A championship clinched and a format validated

The win gave US RaceTronics their third victory in four races, while Loris Spinelli and JC Perez clinched the 2018 PRO-AM title outright — proof that the Super Trofeo's identical-car format makes strategy and split-second decisions the difference between winning and losing.
