A few days ago the automotive internet was buzzing with a pair of photos posted on Instagram showcasing what seems to be a hybrid between the SC18 Alston, the Sian, and the Aventador J, during testing on the track, featuring a massive rear wing, possibly with active aero, but without a decent windshield … on these photos, it seemed even lower than the one on the Aventador J from 2012.

While there were only two, low-resolution images, the rear angle clearly showed the profile of this car, while the front view is showing a front bumper similar to the one seen on the one of a kind SC18 Alston that was unveiled in 2018 … so is Lamborghini racing department, Squadra Corse, working on a second bespoke, one-off model for a fortunate customer?

In a recent interview it was mentioned Lamborghini would be building two more, unique, built to order cars based on the Aventador before the successor would be unveiled, could this roofless race car be one of those … and in that case, would it called SC20, for Squadra Corse 2020.

The design shows a model with various aerodynamic parts, one of which is a massive rear wing with a strut in the middle, but also the front shows multiple air intakes, while the wheels look like the Raze 7 units, first seen on the Veneno, but later also used on the SC18 … but then you notice there isn’t really a windshield on this car, so is the future owner looking for a two-seater Formula One car, or a LeMans racer celebrating the design of the past when race cars were open-top models.

If Squadra Corse takes the Aventador as a basis, and perhaps even add an evolution of the Sian Supercapacitor pack, we might be looking at a power output well beyond the 800 hp mark, even as high as 900 hp might come to mind … image that much power with no windshield … I sure hope they deliver a helmet with this car.

Come to think about it, why wouldn’t Automobili Lamborghini SpA create a one-off, bespoke Sian Aperta, taking the Sian Roadster but installing the low windshield similar to the Aventador J, and while they are at it, finish the body in clear carbon fiber … I would be interested in a car like that.

Back in 2018 one very fortunate customer convinced Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse department to create a one-off track-inspired car for his, based on the Lamborghini Aventador the SC18 Alston was born, named after Squadra Corse 2018 we’ve all seen the amazing Huracan GT3 and Huracan Super Trofeo race cars over the last years, but now we also get a real V12 track car, the Essenza SCV12, equipped with the most powerful V12 in Lamborghini’s history over 830 hp.

The first V12 race car in Lamborghini’s history was the Miura Jota from the Seventies, albeit not an official factory model, the Jota has kept her place in history, even if she was crashed and lost, only to have a tribute replica built by Piet Pulford on chassis #3033. After the original Miura Jota it would take several decades for Lamborghini to create a bespoke track car with a V12 engine ultimately this would be the Diablo SV-R, later on, replaced by the Diablo GT-R, both of which raced in bespoke one-make championships.

When the Murciélago replaced the Diablo in 2001 it took a few years for a Murciélago R-GT to be created, this time a true GT1 race car that was entered in racing all over the world to compete with cars from other makes and then the V10 cars were used for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, first with the Gallardo, later on with the Huracan there was also a Gallardo GT3 model and now a Huracan GT3 that’s entered in competition between other makes, but until today a V12 circuit monster wasn’t made anymore.

Performance

In comes the Lamborghini Essenza SC-V12, the new limited edition track-only hypercar developed by Lamborghini’s in-house racing department, Squadra Corse, and featuring a design from the Centro Stile studio only 40 of these SC-V12 will be built, and their owners will become members of an exclusive club with access to bespoke programs in 2021, probably as a supporting race during the Super Trofeo season.

The engine’s 830 hp comes from a RAM system to lift power during high speed, the thundering exhaust has been created in collaboration with Capristo, power is transmitted to the drivetrain via an X-trac sequential gearbox in a rear-wheel drive-only setup, the power-to-weight ratio of 1.66 hp/kg is achieved thanks to the use of a carbon-fiber tub without integrated roll cage developed with FIA prototype safety rules in mind.

Pirelli tires on 19 and 20-inch magnesium wheels to the front and rear hide a Brembo Motorsport developed brake system, while the aerodynamic shape of the Essenza SC-V12 creates 1,200 kg of downforce at 250 Km/h, that’s more than the current GT3 cars.

The special steering wheel was inspired by F1 racing, it incorporates a display and all necessary controls so the driver does not have to let go of the wheel while being seated in a carbon fiber OMP racing seat, fully homologated by the FIA.

Design

This extreme race car features a unique design focused on aerodynamics, lightweight construction, and pure driving performance. Here are some key design elements of the Essenza SCV12:

Aerodynamics: The Essenza SCV12’s bodywork is sculpted to optimize aerodynamics, increasing downforce and stability at high speeds. Its prominent front splitter, large rear wing, and aggressive rear diffuser work in tandem to generate significant downforce, rivaling that of a GT3 race car.

Lightweight construction: The SCV12 uses a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, which not only provides structural rigidity but also reduces overall weight. This enhances the car’s performance, handling, and agility on the track.

Powertrain: At its heart, the Essenza SCV12 features a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine, capable of producing over 830 horsepower. It is paired with a 6-speed sequential transmission and a rear-wheel-drive layout to provide a pure, unfiltered driving experience.

Exterior design: The Essenza SCV12’s design is striking and aggressive, reflecting its performance-oriented nature. Sharp lines, large air intakes, and Y-shaped LED headlights all contribute to the car’s distinctive appearance. The car also features Lamborghini’s signature hexagonal design motifs throughout the exterior.

Interior: The cockpit is purpose-built for track performance, with minimalist design elements to reduce weight and distractions for the driver. It features an FIA-approved racing seat, a multi-functional steering wheel inspired by Formula 1 cars, and a digital dashboard displaying essential information for the driver.

Production

The 40 Essenza SC-V12 will be sold to an elite group of customers that will become part of a new, exclusive club that offers the storage of these cars at the factory in Sant’Agata, with 24h day video surveillance, when the track calendar starts in 2021 the cars will be transported to the various FIA Grade 1 circuits, assisted by the official Squadra Corse technical staff, the owners will be able to drive their cars on the track, helped out by professional drivers.

There is no official indication yet on pricing, but don’t expect this exclusive, track-only V12 hypercar to come cheap but will these 40 customer cars be the end of the line for this model, or has the Essenza SC-V12 been created with the FIA World Endurance Championship in mind, they are adding a hypercar class (that replaces the LMP) for the 2020/2021 season it would make perfect sense.

It has been a while since Lamborghini mentioned they were developing something truly special, a car intended for a very small group of VIP customers, something along the lines of the SC18 Alston, a bespoke build for one fortunate customer as a combined effort of the Ad Personam department and Squadra Corse … a street-legal race car based on the Aventador.

In the end, only one SC18 was built … but the idea of Squadra Corse taking on the V12 flagship kept lingering the mindset of both customers and management … and now we finally get to see what they came up with.

The Lamborghini SCV12 will be built in the bespoke Squadra Corse factory in Sant’Agata, designed by Centro Stile, the SCV12 is a track-only hypercar that can exceed 830 hp thanks to aerodynamic supercharging … the design shows a longer front overhang and massive rear diffuser with a high carbon-fiber rear wing, all inspired by motorsport … the new SCV12 has a higher downforce than current GT3 race cars.

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-16283 size-full" src="https://www.
A full carbon fiber chassis uses rear-wheel drive only now, a pushrod rear suspension is installed onto the gearbox, wheels are made from magnesium and are shod with bespoke, Pirelli developed slicks, 19-inch at the front, 20-inch at the back.

Buying the limited edition Lamborghini SCV12 will automatically secure a membership in the exclusive Club that will participate in advanced driving programs on tracks around the world while being assisted by the factory’s Squadra Corse engineers … under tutoring of none other than Emanuele Pirro … five-time winner of the 24h de Le Mans.

Pricing hasn’t been published yet, but something as special as this Lamborghini SCV12 will not come cheap, I can’t wait to see the first customer cars go head to head in the summer of 2020.

The official press release can be found below:

Lamborghini SCV12: Squadra Corse hypercar ready to hit the track

Track-only limited edition hypercar world premiere is scheduled for summer 2020

The engine is the most powerful V12 from Lamborghini to date

Aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 car

Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s track-only hypercar, the Lamborghini SCV12, has completed its development programme and is now ready to hit the track for its world premiere, scheduled for summer 2020. Fitted with the most powerful V12 naturally aspirated engine from Lamborghini to date, the SCV12 – designed by the in-house Lamborghini Centro Stile – is capable of exceeding 830 hp thanks to aerodynamic supercharging at high speed.

The SCV12 benefits from Lamborghini Squadra Corse’s GT motorsport expertise, using its racing experience to produce increased aerodynamic efficiency and higher downforce levels than a GT3 car. The SCV12’s front bonnet has a double air intake and a central rib directing airflow to the ram-air intake scoop located on the roof. This directs dynamic air pressure created by the car’s movement to increase static air pressure in the engine’s intake manifold, creating greater airflow through the engine and increasing power. The car’s clear track intent and aerodynamic efficiency is further enhanced by the prominent splitter at the front, lateral flicks and vertical fins on the side sills, while at the rear is a custom-built carbon fibre rear wing.

Several aspects of the SCV12 have been developed particularly for the hypercar, with specific racing solutions devised by Squadra Corse engineers, including a new fully carbon fibre chassis that allows for a greater power-to-weight ratio as well as the best handling and circuit driving experience.

The lightweight chassis with rear-wheel drive incorporates a sequential six-speed gearbox as a structural element within the chassis, reducing weight and enhancing weight distribution. Pushrod rear suspension is system installed directly on the gearbox, while power is delivered on the track courtesy of specially developed slick Pirelli tyres fitted on magnesium rims (19″ front, 20″ rear).

The SCV12 will be assembled entirely within the Lamborghini Squadra Corse factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, as a limited edition. Customers will become members of a very exclusive club: they will participate in advanced driving programmes at some of the world’s most prestigious circuits, with the technical assistance of Squadra Corse engineers and the special tutoring of Emanuele Pirro, five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Lamborghini Squadra Corse Special Projects Consultant.

So you have a Huracan Super Trofeo Evo race car, or perhaps one of the Huracan GT3 racers, and you enjoy them to the fullest, but you just can’t forget those impressive Diablo SV-R, V12 track monsters or the even more intimidating Diablo GT-R two V12 Bulls that started the one-marque race scene back in the Nineties that would later turn into the Super Trofeo series, first with the Gallardo Super Trofeo and later on with the Huracan ST models.

Sadly we haven’t seen a V12 race car since the demise of the Murciélago LP670-4 R-SV from 2010 until now. Well, not really, but the new Lamborghini SC18 Alston is the closest thing to an actual V12 track oriented car.

While the SC18 isn’t a real race car, this new one-off has been developed by Squadra Corse, the racing department for Automobili Lamborghini SpA, for a specific customer and naturally all the lessons learned from the Huracan Super Trofeo and GT3 have been applied to this carbon fiber Bull.

Powered by the 6.5 Liter V12 engine found in the Lamborghini Aventador, the SC18 boasts 770 hp at 8,500 rpm with a maximum torque figure of 720 Nm at 6,750 rpm, while the power output is the same as for the limited edition Centenario, the torque output has been increased by 30 Nm. We still see a 7-Speed ISR gearbox to bring all that power to Veneno style center-lock wheels, 20 inch up front and 21 inch at the rear fitted with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires that have been developed specifically for the SC18.

On the outside we get a GT3 inspired front section with large air intakes inside a bespoke front bumper with vertical winglets on top of the wheels while the front hood consists of a pair of massive vents, on the side we find deep side sills running into large, stylish intakes in front of the rear wheels, the rear diffuser boasts a very open design, primarily to cool the V12 engine but also to increase downforce at speed.

I guess even more downforce will come from an impressive, clear carbon fiber rear wing that is adjustable in three different positions (we’ve seen that on the Veneno before) while the engine cover is fitted with a total of 12 air vents to keep the engine even cooler, a vertical fin running from the roofline into the rear wing completes the LeMans styling even further finished in a Daytona Grey tinted carbon fiber, the Lamborghini SC18 comes complete with red livery to show an equally intimidating as beautiful look.

Inside we find a Nero Ade Alcantara interior, the large central console display reminds us of the one seen in the Centenario and naturally comes with a telemetry to keep track of the owner’s progress on the track. The lightweight, carbon fiber seats are also finished in black Alcantara and boast a stunning, red cross-stitching pattern.

If there will be more than one SC18 isn’t known yet, but this first one-off from the Squadra Corse division will surely be followed by more bespoke models in the future.

Now this for sale ad had me puzzled for a while … this is a 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse, but finished in Grigio Titans over a grey Alcantara interior with comfort seats and a low rear wing on a regular engine cover … that just doesn’t add up.

A Belgian car dealer YourCar has this V10 listed for €235,000 at the time of writing, showing 6,000 km on the counter and a registration date of 10/2014 … which is also weird as the last Lamborghini Gallardo to leave the factory in Sant’Agata was a red Performante number 14,022 on November 25th 2013 … after that date the assembly line at the factory was converted to the Huracán that would be unveiled in March 2014.

So this Grigio Titans Gallardo Squadra Corse became a very intriguing car … what is the story behind it? Back in September 2013 at the IAA in Frankfurt Lamborghini unveiled the swansong of the Gallardo model line, the limited edition LP570-4 Squadra Corse, only 50 of these race inspired V10 would be built.

The Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse could be ordered in either Bianco Monocerus, Grigio Thalasso, Rosso Mars and Giallo Midas, note that 15 of these cars would be sold in the United States, but only in Giallo Midas, inspired by the new 2013 Gallardo Super Trofeo race car the engine cover and large rear wing were transplanted on the Squadra Corse model while the interior received the Superleggera sport seats … however, the usual comfort seats were an option.

So that brings us back to this Grigio Titans Gallardo Squadra Corse … a shade that wasn’t possible with an engine cover that wasn’t supposed to be used on the Squadra Corse and a regular, low rear wing … the plot thickens …

According to YourCar.be there is a perfectly good explanation … this specific Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse is a one-off, ordered by none other than Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and Director of Automobili Lamborghini SpA at the time, as his company car (now why don’t we get company cars like that over here) … this is a 1 of 50 Squadra Corse, but only one has been built in this shade and with this configuration.

The front has the new triangular air intakes and the vent on the side as seen on the Nuova Gallardo LP560-4 in Paris back in 2012, behind the glossy black RA Forged wheels the brake calipers are bright red (you could order black, yellow or red calipers on the Squadra Corse) and the side sill is finished in clear carbon fiber, naturally there is the LP570-4 badge on the side too.

At the rear we see the new bumper design with the dual black exhaust tips … but a different engine cover, this car was ordered with the carbon fiber, glass engine cover and low rear wing, an option on the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera in fact … in this case there are also lights in the engine bay to showcase that nice V10 unit.

Normally the Gallardo Squadra Corse received clear carbon fiber exterior rear view mirrors, this specific car comes with red painted mirror housings on the doors that receive the clear carbon fiber panels and a strap to pull … not the usual arm rest and handle as seen on the more regular Gallardo models.

Something strange is the fact there is a speaker grid on this door panel, while that option wasn’t ticked for this car, the central console only shows a carbon fiber coved and not the navigation and media system, I guess those are standard panels with the speaker grid already fitted, even if there is no audio system in the car.

The black Alcantara upholstery is used on the dashboard, the steering wheel and the comfort seats, an option on the Gallardo Squadra Corse … all showing a very nice contrasting, red stitching and a nice Raging Bull crest on the headrest. The lower part of the steering wheel gets a carbon fiber finish together with the central console and the hand brake lever, note that this car has an E-Gear transmission and those amazing looking white dials with orange scripting.

Talking about scripts, the lower part of the dashboard in this car is also finished in black Alcantara, but note the Squadra Corse script on the upper part in front of the passenger, and behind the rear side window on the driver’s side we find the Squadra Corse, Serie Speciale plaque … the inner door sills also proudly show Squadra Corse, but take a look at the small triangular window on the driver’s side … it has the ’50’ plaque … doesn’t that mean this car was built in 2013, when the 50th Anniversary of Automobili Lamborghini SpA was celebrated?

Seems like this is indeed a rather special Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse … a one of a kind Bull that was custom built for an important person in the history of Automobili Lamborghini SpA … should be a very nice addition for a collector … more information can be found at YourCar.be

So you have been admiring the pilots in the Blancpain Super Trofeo series for a while, but you don’t have a racing license … fear not, Lamborghini has the next best thing lined up for you … the Track Accademia Pilota Lamborghini at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on November 7-8, 2015.

The Squadra Corsa department has put together the most advanced track event for customers yet, 8 people will be able to experience the closest thing to participating in an actual race … during this two day event you will be trained by the actual Super Trofeo race team members to prepare you to become a race driver.

First you will be taken onto the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the driver seat of a production Lamborghini Huracán, for an advanced course to get to know the track … after that the real fun will begin by actually driving a real race car, the Gallardo Super Trofeo … on slicks … a car that is only available to licensed pilots normally.

Pilota Lamborghini will put you in the shoes of a race driver … experiencing the free practice runs to get to know the car, a real life qualifying session where you will try to put down the best time possible including a tire change … all to culminate in a full blown 30 lap race that will include a pit stop and a driver change.

Nothing has ever come as close to real racing

You will also receive an invitation to take a test drive in the fastest one-make GT car … the Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo, not only will you have access to the exclusive Lamborghini VIP lounge, but you will also get a bespoke set of racing gear, Lamborghini award and merchandise only made available for this event.

If you complete the Pilota Lamborghini you will in fact be eligible to apply for an official IMSA-FIA racing license … how cool is that?

Day 1 will have you flying into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway by helicopter around 4:30pm to have you fitted into your racing gear, after which you can do some laps on the track behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán … after a cocktail and an official welcome you will be taken back to your luxury hotel on the Las Vegas Strip at 6:45pm.

Day 2 starts at 7:00 am with a nice breakfast before you are taken back to the Motor Speedway to attend the advanced classroom session and an official photo shoot. After that hands on starts on the track with extreme recovery techniques, on track overtaking and actual driving of the Gallardo Super Trofeo race car … at 12:00 lunch will be arranged in the Black Jack Club.

By 1:30pm the free practice session starts until the qualifying session begins at 3:10pm during which a pit stop will have to be performed to have a new set of racing slicks installed on the car. At 4:10pm the race briefing explaining the necessary procedures is planned with pre-race procedure and grid formation happening at 4:30pm.

Race time

At 4:45pm on day 2 the Pilota Lamborghini culminates during a 30 lap race with a required pit stop during which a driver change is implied … each driver will be getting about 14 to 16 laps of seat time behind the wheel of a Gallardo Super Trofeo competing to become the Pilota Champion.

After the race you will be asked to give interviews just like the real race drivers in the Blancpain Super Trofeo series before being taken to the podium to receive the award and enjoy some Champaign … by 6:30pm you will be taken back to the hotel.

Day 3 might be the most interesting of them all, between 7:00am and 10:00am you will receive an in-depth look at the amazing Lamborghini Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo race car … with the help of a Lamborghini Squadra Corse specialist you will even be able to drive this masterpiece on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway … after which your stint will be analyzed by actual racing team staff.

Participation at the Pilota Lamborghini is a once in a lifetime opportunity to actually drive both the Gallardo Super Trofeo and the new Huracán Super Trofeo … but it doesn’t come cheap at $19,995 … but we have some bad news … it is all sold out! That’s right, the 8 spots that were available for this amazing Track Accademia have been filled, sorry.

World premiere of Lamborghini Huracán GT3 by Automobili Lamborghini

Automobili Lamborghini has presented the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3, in a world premiere at its headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese. The unveiling ceremony was carried out in the presence of media, customers and partners from around the world.

The GT3 competitor makes its debut following that of the new Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo, which will be the protagonist of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo in Europe, Asia and North America from this year.

Starting in 2015, the Huracán GT3 will line up in the Blancpain Endurance Series that runs over five venues in Europe, among which is included the famous Spa-Francorchamps 24-hours race.

The growth and success of Lamborghini motorsports activities throughout the world has heightened its appeal to partners: the prestigious Indonesian oil and energy petroleum company PERTAMINA will be the official technical partner of Lamborghini Squadra Corse activities in the coming years.

“With the Huracán GT3, Lamborghini Squadra Corse takes a further step forward in the development and production of a race car for this category, which is among the most prestigious and challenging in international motorsport. Lamborghini is thus for the first time directly involved in GT motorsport activities with the in-house development of this new model,” declared Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “We are proud and delighted to announce the new partnership with PERTAMINA, which will further support our motorsport activities.”

“We are proud to be the partner of Automobili Lamborghini as one of the world’s most prestigious super sports car marques. This cooperation confirms PERTAMINA’s position as the technology partner of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, connected to our vision of becoming a World Class Energy Company with the mission to expand our market globally,” said Ahmad Bambang, Marketing Director of PERTAMINA.

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 is equipped with an Alu-Carbon chassis and a fully integrated FIA-compliant roll-cage. The subframe has been modified both at the front and rear to accommodate a high performance water radiator (front), and for a better positioning of the gearbox (rear), improving aerodynamics.

The kerb weight is 1239 Kg with a 42/58 front/rear weight distribution. The final weight will be set by the FIA BOP.

The bodywork is in composite materials and, along with the aerodynamics, has been developed in collaboration with Dallara Engineering with the direct involvement of the founder Gian Paolo Dallara. Aerodynamics have been tuned to grant the best possible air flow penetration, and maximum adherence and traction in any condition on any asphalt. Efficiency has been improved thanks to the rear adjustable wing, adjustable front diffuser and louvres. The new aerodynamics also allow improved cooling of the braking system.

As for the Huracán Super Trofeo, the GT3 is equipped with new bodywork fastfittings and equipped with a new, enhanced-performing engine and gearbox oil cooler.

Special attention has been given to safety, with the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 equipped with a carbon frame 8862 specification seat; an OMP fire extinguishing system; and an innovative roof hatch which enables, in case of need, quick assistance by medical personnel through the roof of the car. Seat belts are provided by OMP, the fuel tank is an FT3 type and the pedals are adjustable.

Front and rear lights are LED. The new multifunction steering wheel has been reengineered along with OMP.

The new rear-wheel drive Huracán GT3 adopts the V10 direct injection engine mounted on the road car, managed by a Bosch Motorsport control unit that also manages traction control, gearbox and the TFT display on the dashboard. All wiring and connectors are designed specifically for racing. The engine is fixed on the chassis by rigid mountings and is coupled with a sequential six-speed gearbox, according to FIA regulations, and a three-disc racing clutch.

The braking system is made up by 380 x 34 mm steel discs at the front (6 pot), and 355 x 32mm steel discs at the back (4 pot), according to FIA regulations, equipped with Bosch ABS. This system features 12 different settings that can be actioned directly from the steering wheel, as can traction control. The tyre sizes are 315/680 at the front and 325/705 at the back. The car is equipped with a pneumatic lifting system.

In Europe, the Huracán GT3 is priced at 369,000 Euro (excluding taxes) ex works.

Lamborghini’s newest raging bull race car has already made its track debut in development tests in recent months, under the supervision of Head of Motorsport Giorgio Sanna. “The first GT3 car from Lamborghini will allow talented young drivers the opportunity to contest a Lamborghini in competitions such as the challenging 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series. This season will be an important one for us to gather experience from a category as demanding as GT3, but at the same time we are offering a competitive product to our customers. It will be a busy year, as the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo will also debut in our Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series in Europe, USA and Asia.”

Grasser Racing Team will line up two new Huracán GT3s in the 2015 Blancpain Endurance Series. The Austrian team – 2013 Blancpain Sprint Series Pro-Am Champion and third in the 2014 Pro Class – will field the two official test drivers of Lamborghini Squadra Corse: Fabio Babini (ITA) and Adrian Zaugg (RSA) now promoted to factory drivers, and the Italian Mirko Bortolotti who impressed in the 2014 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe.

Working alongside them will be three young talents from Lamborghini’s Young Drivers Program: Giovanni Venturini (ITA), Jeroen Mul (NED) and Andrew Palmer (USA). All three have been promoted to the Lamborghini Squadra Corse GT3 Junior Team. This new program features a step up from the Young Drivers Program, with the aim of selecting the best talents to be involved in testing sessions and GT3 racing.

The Italian Edoardo Piscopo and the Serbian Milos Pavlovic have also been promoted to official test drivers for Lamborghini Squadra Corse. Winners of both the 2014 PRO Class in the European Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and the World Final, they will be in charge of the GT3 car’s development across the world.

During a very special ceremony at the factory in Sant’Agata Lamborghini unveiled the latest development from the in-house Squadra Corse department the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 race car that will enter the Blancpain Endurance Series in Europe five races during the 2015 season including the famous 24h de Spa Francorchamps in Belgium.

The new body made from composite material has been developed in collaboration with Dallara Engineering, founded by Gian Paolo Dallara, who has created a new aerodynamic shape based on the Huracan but optimizing air flow both around and into the car, complete with a massive rear wing and a lower front diffuser both of which are fully adjustable by the way.

Body panels are ‘fast-fitting’ on the new Lamborghini Huracan GT3 while inside we encounter a carbon seat together with an OMP fire extinguishing system. They even fitted a special hatch on the roof that allows access through the roof of the car in case of an accident.

The Huracan GT3 is a rear wheel drive only model with massive 380x34mm steel brake discs up front and 355x32mm discs at the rear with 6 and 4 pot calipers respectively add the Bosch ABS system that can be adjusted in 12 settings straight from the steering wheel and tires in 315/680 and 325/705 to the front and rear together with a pneumatic lifting system and you are talking about a real FIA GT3 race car.

Engine and Performance

The Huracán GT3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine derived from the road-going Huracán. This engine has been tuned and optimized for racing, producing over 550 horsepower (the exact output may vary due to regulations). The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifters, ensuring lightning-fast gear changes and optimized performance on the racetrack.

Chassis and Aerodynamics

The GT3 version of the Huracán is built on an aluminum and carbon-fiber chassis, which is both lightweight and strong. The extensive use of carbon fiber and other lightweight materials help to reduce the car’s overall weight, which in turn improves handling and performance.

The aerodynamic package on the Huracán GT3 is designed to provide maximum downforce and grip on the racetrack. The aggressive front splitter, enlarged rear wing, and revised side skirts all contribute to improved stability and handling at high speeds.

Suspension and Braking

The Huracán GT3 features a race-tuned suspension system with adjustable dampers, giving drivers the ability to fine-tune the car’s handling characteristics. The car also boasts an advanced anti-roll bar system and adjustable ride height for further customization. The braking system consists of ventilated steel discs with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear, providing exceptional stopping power and fade resistance.

Interior and Safety

The interior of the Huracán GT3 is focused entirely on racing, with a stripped-down cabin to save weight. A racing bucket seat, six-point harness, and a full roll cage provide safety and support for the driver. The digital dashboard and steering wheel are packed with controls and switches to manage various vehicle systems, such as engine mapping, traction control, and ABS.

Driving Experience

Driving the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 is an adrenaline-pumping experience. The naturally aspirated V10 engine delivers raw power and an intoxicating soundtrack, while the sequential gearbox provides seamless shifts. The car’s lightweight construction and aerodynamic enhancements allow for nimble handling and impressive cornering speeds. The GT3 is a true racing machine that requires skill and finesse to extract its full potential.

Price

Priced at 369,000 Euros not including taxes straight from the factory in Italy the car has been thoroughly tested by Giorgio Sanna (Head of Motorsport) and will enter all five races of the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2015, starting in Monza in early April.

At least two Huracan GT3 will compete in the 2015 season under the Grasser Racing Team colors, driven by Fabio Babini, Adrian Zaugg, and Mirko Bortolotti together with three young people from Lamborghini’s Young Drivers program: Giovanni Venturini, Jeroen Mul, and Andrew Palmer.

In a recent interview with Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and director of Automobili Lamborghini SpA, the question about a rear wheel drive Huracán came up after seeing the new LP620-2 Super Trofeo race car … which unlike the Gallardo Super Trofeo she succeeds isn’t an all-wheel drive racer anymore … to make the step from Super Trofeo to GT3 racing easier Lamborghini opted to go for rear wheel drive only on their new racer.

He stated the option is surely being considered, keep in mind the current Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 has a normal 30/70 equation between the front and rear wheel drive, but in certain conditions this new V10 can put all the power onto the rear wheels only (and go 50/50 too) … so why would you go for a dedicated rear wheel drive only model then? Just for the fun of it I guess, remember the Gallardo was only available as a limited edition LP550-2 Valentino Balboni at first because Lamborghini wanted to have all their model with power on the four wheels … but a rear wheel drive V10 is so much fun to drive.

Mr Winkelmann also mentioned the customers expect new and special editions from Lamborghini, which can clearly be seen in the multitude of Gallardo editions that have been built, but also now on the Aventador flagship with the special Ad Personam models being shown … so does that mean we’ll be getting a long list of Huracán versions too?

I’m not sure the list will be quite as long as the Gallardo one … but a few things are certain … there will be a convertible version of the new V10 shown pretty soon, the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Spyder will surely be seen at either the October Paris Auto Show or the March 2015 Geneva show in March. Will the Huracán Spyder retain the canvas roof seen on the Gallardo or go for a folding metal top like the competition remains to be seen … but a topless V10 is in the making, that’s for sure.

Next up will most likely be a lightweight version of the current LP610-4 like a Superleggera, which would mean a small power increase and a loss of weight of around 100kg … that would make the Huracán really fly I think … let’s say this will become a Huracán LP620-4 Superleggera in 2016.

With the Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo being unveiled so quickly after the regular street car it is safe to say the street legal version of this racer could be just around the cornet … let’s hope that is going to be a Huracán LP620-2 Squadra Corse … closely based on the Super Trofeo but being legal to drive on the open road with some really wild styling.

If you want to dream ahead of time why not try putting together a Huracán LP620-2 Squadra Corse in our Virtual Car Configurator.

And while we’re at it, we’ve put the option of configuring the Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo also in our Virtual Car Configurator.
