Norwegian auto tuner Zyrus Engineering garnered significant attention after their heavily modified, 1,200-horsepower Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo based LP1200 (track-only version) clocked a lap time of 6:48.56 during its testing phase, presumably in August 2020. The figures are undeniably remarkable, especially considering that the fastest lap at the Nürburgring by a Huracan, specifically the Huracán Performante, was timed at 6:52.01 in 2017. Zyrus Engineering now intends to produce 9 road legal version of the track monster for the lucky few who want to spice up their commute!

Zyrus LP1200 Strada
Zyrus Engineering was in the news when they introduced the LP1200 Strada, a street-legal version of their earlier LP1200. Built on the Lamborghini Huracán LP640-4 model, Zyrus upgrades more than 600 parts from the base Huracán to make their LP1200 Strada, . The vehicle shed almost 172 pounds through meticulous engineering, further enhancing its nimbleness and overall performance capabilities.
For daily usability factors and safety reasons, the street-ready versions of the Zyrus Engineering LP1200 Strada received switchable pre-programmed maps, which can be switched directly from the car’s display screen. In the Strada (Street) setting, the car boasts a formidable 700 horsepower. Cranking it to Sport mode elevates the driving experience with a hefty 900 horsepower. However, the Corsa (Race) mode is where the LP1200 Strada truly comes into its own, unleashing a hair-raising 1,217 horsepower.
Reinventing the Evo
The Zyrus Strada LP1200 pays homage to the iconic Lamborghini Huracán Evo, boasting meticulous re-engineering that enhances performance while respecting its original DNA. Over 600 parts have been modified, replaced, and strengthened, including a new removable carbon fiber body designed to improve downforce and optimize high-speed stability.
The car’s aesthetics are not sacrificed for the sake of performance. Several bespoke carbon features, including a carbon engine cover, rear hatch, front splitter, and floating side fins, lend the Strada LP1200 a striking and unmistakable look. Further advancements include an enlarged twin-profile swan neck rear wing, carbon mirrors, and a unique exposed carbon rear four-fin diffuser.
Uncompromised Performance
The Strada LP1200 has an Öhlins TTX 4-way adjustable suspension system, bespoke airlift system, carbon-ceramic discs, and bespoke forged wheels (19” front and 20” rear wheels on Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires). These components, coupled with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires, ensure excellent stability both on the track and the road.
The vehicle houses a 5.2-liter V10 engine with a custom Inconel exhaust system and a unique twin-turbo setup, with additional air cooling and directional top-mount fans.
Luxurious Interiors with Advanced Tech
Inside, the Strada LP1200 is surprisingly hospitable for a machine with such potent track prowess. Its interior includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen interface, air conditioning, entertainment, navigation systems, and an upgraded rear-view reversing camera and lights. Hand-stitched leather seats bearing the Strada emblem, carbon, and Alcantara accents, and a color-coordinated titanium half-roll cage further enhance the luxurious feel of the cockpit.
Commitment to Safety
Despite its extreme performance capabilities, safety remains paramount in the Strada LP1200. The vehicle offers an electronic ‘Smart Dash’ control system for video logging and recording data. The system includes iCloud-compatible data acquisition, telemetry, and temperature monitoring, and three HD video recording cameras. Other safety features include towing eyes at the front and rear, FIA standard ‘Lifeline.
TUV Rheinland says “YES”
In 2023, Zyrus Engineering eventually received road-legal certification for the LP 1200 Strada from TUV Rheinland, implying that the vehicle met Germany’s stringent road safety and environmental protection regulations. Upon receiving this certification, the LP 1200 Strada has earned the distinction of being the world’s first road-legal, twin-turbo, 1200-horsepower machine built in Norway.
Pricing details
Prices for the 2023 Zyrus Strada LP1200 start at €875,000 (limited to just 9 units). Prices include a three-year limited warranty, the cost of the donor car, and a track-day familiarization and coaching package.
Conclusion
Only the most serious track enthusiast will remotely consider this car as a good alternative to a dedicated race car, but we can imagine a couple of scenario where owner may live very near to a racetrack and simply want to bring their track car back to their home for storage and enjoy tinkering with the beast on their own terms. Still a machine this powerfull will require some serious maintenance work hours so it seems a bit futile to think that once will be able to drive it around without a full pitcrew nearby 😉 Still the idea brings a grin to our face, respect to those who pull the trigger on that one.
