According to a petition filed with Minnesota District Court on Wednesday, Minnesota Vikings’ rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison has entered a guilty plea for a misdemeanor charge of speeding in a 55 mph zone.
The Incident Involving Jordan Addison
On July 20, Addison was pulled over at 3:17 a.m. for speeding at 140 mph on I-94 in St. Paul, Minnesota. A graduate of Tuscarora High and the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was driving his 2021 Lamborghini Urus. Addison explained to the trooper that an emergency with his dog at home was the reason for his speeding.
This incident, confirmed by KSTP-TV in Minnesota, shocked fans who followed Addison’s successful college career with Pitt and Southern Cal. He was particularly noted for his 2021 Biletnikoff Award-winning campaign.
Under the sentencing agreement, Addison’s guilty plea means the count of speeding would be reduced from a misdemeanor to a petty misdemeanor, and the count of reckless driving, a misdemeanor, would be dismissed. The Vikings’ star will pay fines and fees totaling $686, and Assistant City Attorney Steven Heng stated that Addison’s license would be revoked for six months for speeding over 100 mph.
His attorney will officially enter the plea on Sept. 19 at his arraignment. District Court Judge Maria S. Mitchell will consider the agreement, but Addison will not appear in court.
The Team’s Reaction and Updates
The Vikings released a statement after the incident became public, expressing awareness and gathering additional information. “We are aware of last night’s traffic incident involving Jordan Addison and are gathering additional information,” they said.
According to the reports. Addison expressed remorse for his actions: “I used poor judgment, and I made a really poor decision that I’ll definitely learn from.”
Despite this rocky off-the-field start, Addison’s professional football career seems promising. He began training camp shortly after the incident and immediately started to impress, competing with veteran K.J. Osborn for Minnesota’s No. 2 comprehensive receiver job.
The incident serves as a cautionary tale and a learning moment for the young star as he moves into his professional career, emphasizing the importance of responsible behavior off the field.
