Automobili Lamborghini SpA unveiled the Huracán LP610-4, the successor to the popular Gallardo, to the public back in March 2014 at the famous Geneva Motor Show, a V10 powered Raging Bull with 610 hp going to all four wheels, hence the LP610-4 designation, only a few months later the Squadra Corse department had a race version ready for this new V10 to take over the reign from the MY2013 Gallardo Super Trofeo.

During the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season in Europe, North America, and Asia, the Gallardo would still be eligible, but it would have to compete next to the brand new Huracán Super Trofeo that made its Global Debut at “The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering” in August 2014 as the LP620-2, only 10 more hp compared to the street version of the new Huracán, but with rear-wheel drive only.

The Lamborghini Super Trofeo one-make series was already a success with the Gallardo, but when the Huracan took over, things really started going well, it wasn’t long until they added an in-house developed Huracán GT3 race car, effectively putting Reiter Engineering GmbH who developed the Gallardo GT3 aside, the Squadra Corse department grew up, and only three years later, in September 2017 they came up with the first evolution of the Huracán Super Trofeo car and called it the Super Trofeo EVO, a massive redesign turned the V10 into an extremely aggressive looking car (the GT3 version got the EVO suffix too by the way), and another important change was the replacement of Blancpain for Roger Dubuis.

Another four years later, and after more than 400 Lamborghini Huracán race cars have been produced, Squadra Corse apparently deemed it necessary to evolve the successful one-make racer again for the 2022 season and call it the EVO2, we might have a word with the department that comes up with these names I’m sure they could come up with something more interesting than ‘EVO2’ for this brand new Bull for the track.

A small detail, but very interesting, the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo and GT3 race cars are actually built on the same assembly line as the regular streetcars, it must be cool to visit the factory and see one of these ultra-aggressive looking Super Trofeo EVO2 cars between an Huracán EVO coupe and an EVO RWD Spyder the contrast must be mindblowing seeing those together.

The new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 will be seen in action during the 2022 season, which will the 14th season of the series, and this version of the Huracán ST is the most high-performance one ever to race in this one-make series, it is safe to say the Lamborghini Huracán model is the best-selling sports car ever for Lamborghini since 1963, and the option to have gentlemen racers and professionals battle it out on the track in the Super Trofeo series has surely helped to reach unseen production numbers for this ‘Baby Lamborghini’.

From the start of the Super Trofeo championship in 2009, a total of 950 drivers have competed for over 310 hours on famous track all over the globe, and the experience gathered from racing these bespoke Huracán to the limit on the track had surely helped the development of the road cars too, it’s a win-win situation for both venues, and with a total of 400 pure race cars built up to April 2021, the intention is to reach the 500 units mark with this new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 that is available for €250,000 before taxes, and just in case you already own the ‘old’ Lamborghini Huracán EVO version, there is a conversion kit available in early 2022 to EVO2 specifications, we will see the EVO2 in action on May 28 at Le Castellet, during round two of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe.

When we take a closer look at the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 we notice some Sian influence at the front, with the open fender next to the new, high-intensity LED headlights, the overall design of the new front bumper resembles the Huracán STO road car, the vents above the front wheels extract air from the hot disk brakes, but also direct air to the side sills, adding downforce at the same time as creating an airflow into the intakes for the rear wheels.

At the rear, we also notice new LED taillights, according to the press release they remind us of the legendary Lamborghini Countach, but our attention gets drawn to that intricate rear diffuser, and that massive, imposing, clear carbon fiber rear wing, it is clear from every angle this car was developed for optimal airflow, there are a lot of vertical fins to be found everywhere on the body of this Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, I’m sure this car will be rock stable at tremendous speeds with this kind of aerodynamics.

And it not only a cosmetic change that distinguishes the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 from the previous EVO version, on this new model the front brakes go to 390 mm rotors compared to the 380 mm units on the previous model, but this also allows the use of larger brake pads for better performance and wear. The engine is still the naturally aspirated 5.2-Liter V10 unit with 620 hp going to the rear wheels only through an X-Trac sequential six-speed gearbox.

Uncompromising design, optimized aerodynamics and a new braking system make the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 the most high-performance version ever designed for the one-make championship

Sant’Agata Bolognese, May 26, 2021 – Lamborghini Squadra Corse presents the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the latest version of racing car that will be used across each of the three continental Lamborghini series, starting in 2022. Radical aerodynamic refinements and an uncompromising design created by Lamborghini Centro Stile make the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 the most high-performance version ever to race in the one-make series, which in 2021 contested its 13th season.

“Seven years have passed since we introduced the first Huracán Super Trofeo at Pebble Beach, and now Squadra Corse is adding a new chapter to its history,” commented Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Huracán is one of the biggest bestsellers in the history of the brand, and the Super Trofeo has additionally helped to increase its success”.

Since 2009, 950 drivers have raced in the Super Trofeo, competing in over 310 hours at the most prestigious tracks in the world. Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, remarked: “The Super Trofeo is the best testing ground for technical and aerodynamic solutions for both road cars and GTs, and with the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 we have definitely taken another step forward. In April 2021 we celebrated the milestone of the 400th Huracán racing car, and our goal with the Super Trofeo EVO2 is to reach 500 in just a few years”.

Aerodynamics and design are the areas in which Squadra Corse and Centro Stile have concentrated on the most. From an aesthetic point of view, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 takes the design of the previous generations to the extreme, anticipating the styling elements that will debut on road cars in the coming years. The front end has undergone a radical change, featuring new high-intensity full LED light clusters with a hexagonal design and a pronounced “omega” lip that joins the carbon-fiber fins and reinforces the stylistic link with the Huracán STO. Also new are the air curtain intakes, which optimize airflow, by keeping it adherent to the sides, as well as downforce.

The rear, dominated by the large carbon-fiber wing, was inspired by minimalism and lightness. The frames of the new LED light clusters pay tribute to the design of the Countach and are efficiently supported by the arched carbon-fiber bumper, which harmoniously links the aerodynamic appendages located behind the wheels to the redesigned diffuser fins.

Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini Head of Design, commented: “When we approached the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 project, we immediately thought of the concept of ‘Racing in style’. That is, a combination of the typical aggressiveness of the Huracán racing cars and the classic stylistic features of Lamborghini’s DNA. In addition, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 represents a futuristic aesthetic approach that partially anticipates the design elements of the next range of road cars”.

Innovations are also seen in numerous components of the bodywork, such as the side member paneling and the aforementioned rear aerodynamic appendages, replacing plastic materials with carbon fiber, while maintaining the maximum sustainability in terms of running costs. In addition, the rear fenders are now composed of a single element, which includes part of the side spoiler, for optimal surface continuity.

The braking system, designed and developed by Squadra Corse, has also undergone changes. The steel front discs are increased from 380 to 390 mm; the new calipers can accommodate pads with a new design and a larger surface area to optimize performance and consumption. Propulsion is entrusted to the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that delivers a maximum power output of 620 HP, to be managed with a sequential six-speed X-Trac gearbox and combined with rear-wheel drive.

Giorgio Sanna, Lamborghini’s Head of Motorsport, stated: “The Super Trofeo is the basis of our concept of customer racing, capable of involving and exciting both young talents and gentlemen drivers. The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 is dedicated to both categories of drivers, and we have designed it with the precise aim of offering an even more engaging driving experience, while paying the utmost attention to running costs”.

The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 makes its public debut on May 28 in Le Castellet, on the occasion of the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. The price for the European market is €250,000, excluding taxes. Customers will have the opportunity to upgrade the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO with a dedicated kit available from early 2022.

The 400th Huracán race car seems to be a GT3 EVO version, in a mere six seasons, the Huracán GT3 took almost 100 victories in some of the most prestigious GT championships worldwide.

This milestone was recognized at a special event, which was attended by Stephan Winkelmann (President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini), Maurizio Reggiani (Chief Technical Officer), Ranieri Niccoli (Chief Manufacturing Officer), and Giorgio Sanna (Head of Motorsport). They were joined by the various technicians who build both the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo and GT3 Evo every day.

In 2014 we saw the stunning Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo being unveiled in a satin grey metallic body with #63 as her number, replacing the Gallardo Super Trofeo in the European, North Americ, and Asia Super Trofeo Championships.

For the 2015 GT Championship, the bright green Huracán GT3 came around, marking Lamborghini’s official entry into GT racing, during six seasons the GT3 and GT3 EVO would take nearly 100 wins home to Italy, including the prestigious Daytona 24 Hours a record three consecutive times.

The Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo would continue to add the Sebring 12 Hours twice as well as the “triple crown” of the GT World Challenge Europe in 2019 to her achievements.

For the 2020 Championship, a total of 24 teams would rade the Huracán GT3 Evo, over 15 national and international championships, these amazing V10s would cover a total of 20,000km between 88 different pilots.

For the 2021 season of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, customers car order a very special livery on their Huracán Super Trofeo EVO race car, inspired by the new Huracán STO street car, using the same Blu Laufey and Arancio California combination.

It seems this livery will be a collector special, much like the 10th edition livery we’ve seen in 2018 on the Super Trofeo EVO car, but this time the racer commemorates the street car, which is a rather inverted world as the Huracán STO is the V10 Super Trofeo Omologata, a street-legal, homologated version of the race car.

And now this ‘Omolagata’ inspires the new 2021 Super Trofe EVO race car as a bespoke livery, and you have to admit it does look really nice on the track-only version too, I can’t wait to see this one in action on some of the world’s most important tracks once the season starts, which is mid-April for the European series on the famous Monza track.

The European Super Trofeo series will be in its 12th season, while the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia series will start in Sepang in Malaysia on the weekend of 28 and 29 March for the ninth year already, the eighth Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship will commence at Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama during the first weekend of April.

Automobili Lamborghini SpA just released the ultimate, streel-legal version of the Huracán, the STO, or Super Trofeo Omologata, in all sense of the word a racecar that is legal to drive on the open road, complete with massive, adjustable, carbon fiber rear wing, a deep front spoiler with large air intakes, big vents on the front hood, which by the way is a single piece with the fenders and it tilts up, hinged at the front … and last, but not least, a ram-air intake on the engine cover that is visible above the roof.

So it’s safe to say the Huracán STO is a beast, and derived from the current, factory official racecar, the Super Trofeo EVO, and the GT3 EVO, but made usable for everyday driving, if you can live with the very small, actually non-existent, luggage space, but let’s not forget this isn’t the first time Lamborghini released a car like this.

Nine years ago, in September 2011, at the IAA in Frankfurt, Germany, Stephan Winkelmann, who will become the CEO of Lamborghini again on December 1st, 2020 after being away for nearly 5 years while Stefano Domenicali was CEO, unveiled a bright red Lamborghini Gallardo STS, or Super Trofeo Stradale … which at that time was something like the streel legal version of the Gallardo Super Trofeo racecar, much like the Huracán STO today.

But there was more, at that same IAA show, but two years later, Lamborghini came up with the Gallardo Squadra Corse, because the Gallardo Super Trofeo race car had an update, which is referred to as the FL2, for FaceLift 2, they created an evolution of that car for the street, the Gallardo Squadra Corse, still 570hp like the STS, but now with the upgraded, triangular intakes on the bumpers.

Back to the Gallardo STS, with a limited production run of only 150 units, and the option of only four shades, the Gallardo STS is a rather rare Bull, finished in either Rosso Mars, Grigio Telesto, or Bianco Monocerus … the latter two being non-metallic shades in case you are wondering, and while I liked the red STS a lot, just about the only visible things taken from the racecar were the large rear wing and the engine cover with quick-release system, making it a two-person job if you wanted to access the V10.

So what about the 2013 Gallardo Squadra Corse then? Now this is a much rarer car, only 50 would be built, with 15 of those reserved for the US market, and there was a catch … while other markets would be able to select from a palette of four different shades (grey, white, red and yellow) all 15 units that would be shipped to dealers in the United States were finished in Giallo Midas, so these are about as rare as it gets in the Gallardo line-up.

So the first official photos of the Gallardo Squadra Corse were published in July 2013, by December 2013 we got to see the first images of the new V10 model, the Huracán, which would be publically unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show … 7 years later, in November 2020 the Huracán STO was introduced … and while initial rumors mentioned this would also become a limited edition model, nothing about production number capping is to be found in the press release.

So will they build as much Huracan STO as orders come in, or will they eventually limit it to 700 units, which is a number that was floating around on the internet before the release, and it seems you can order the STO in any shade you like, with different wheel options, a black or color-coded roof and engine cover … it almost feels like a more expensive, more brutal version of the Huracán that’s on the price list, nothing more.

So I wonder if getting a Huracan STO is the best bet at this moment in time? Right now, I would wholeheartedly say yes, this is a stunning car, it looks amazing straight from the factory, and you can spec it just as you like, even the Ad Personam studio is involved option wise on the Super Trofeo Omologata, and I’m sure the driving experience will be unbelievable with all the goodies from the Huracán EVO underneath a stunningly aggressive body … but what about the future?

Currently, the Huracán STO is listed at about USD 330,000 before taxes, back in 2013 the Gallardo SC was USD260,000, but today both the Gallardo STS and the Gallardo SC are around the $200,000 mark, and with the rarity of these two initial Super Trofeo derivates, I guess their price won’t drop any further, and possibly even increase, while it seems the Huracán STO isn’t limited at all, and if they eventually limit the production we might be looking at 700 or more units.

In the long run, I think the Gallardo Squadra Corse is a much better investment, with the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale a close second, but today I would also go for the brand new Huracán STO and enjoy it to the fullest, this isn’t a car that deserves to become a garage queen, the Super Trofeo Omologata wants to be driven … driven hard.

A Lamborghini Huracan is an amazing car on her own, especially the new EVO edition, and this was also taken onto the track when Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse turned the Huracan Super Trofeo into to EVO version, with 620 hp from the V10 engine this is a real track-only car … but it seems this can be improved further.

And this is exactly what Zyrus Engineering, based in Norway, has done … they take a Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo chassis and create a twin-turbo LP1200 … the first twin-turbo Lamborghini Huracan specifically made for the track, we’ve seen many turbocharged Huracan already, but all of them were made for the road … this Zyrus LP1200 is a pure-bred racing machine.

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-2584 size-full" src="https://www.
The entire body of the Zyrus LP1200 has been redesigned in-house and is made in prepreg carbon fiber, especially that massive rear wing has been developed with speed and downforce in mind … Zyrus has redesigned a total of 527 parts from the Huracan Super Trofeo … the result is over 1,200 kg of downforce.

Bespoke Zyrus engine management, custom intake manifolds made from Inconel, a unique twin-turbo system, and a new, titanium exhaust system results in the fastest Lamborghini on the track according to the Zyrus press kit … note the power to weight on this car is 1:1!

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-2585 size-full" src="https://www.
The Zyrus LP1200 was designed with a single goal in mind … performance, and the full carbon fiber interior gives you this impression too, with a custom steering wheel that’s CNC milled and features the necessary controls for a race car experience, this car comes complete with Smart Dash, an app that allows the driver to monitor all necessary values of the car on a smart device, this software also comes from Norway (www.smartdash.no)

Zyrus intends to make 24 units of this LP1200 … but wait, there is more. Depending on the twin-turbo kit and gearbox setup they will also offer an LP1600 and even an LP2000, on the outside, these will be identical, but the latter will boast no less than 2,000 hp.

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-2586 size-full" src="https://www.
And it gets even better … having a 1,200 hp race car is a lot of fun, and the Zyrus LP1200 sure looks the part, but it’s not very practical in everyday life, so Zyrus is going to make 12 road-legal versions of this car, with a less radical interior, and only in 1,200 hp tune, based on the Huracan Performante chassis, they will come with center-lock wheels and ceramic disks in a similar setup as the race variant.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the motorsport department of Automobili Lamborghini, is unveiling the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, making its world debut at an exclusive event in Sant’Agata Bolognese and announces its new partnership with the famous Swiss luxury watchmaker Roger Dubuis.

Following the debut of the Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo three years ago, the racing car has now been extensively redeveloped.

The new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO raises the already high standards of the previous model with entirely redesigned aerodynamics, new devices to improve safety, and several improvements to its mechanics and electronics. The developments combine to offer drivers and teams an efficient and highly professional race car, which makes its track debut at the three continental series in Europe, Asia and North America from spring 2018.

The car will not only participate in the one-make Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, but it may also compete in international Gran Turismo championships in the GT Cup category, and Endurance races, providing more versatility for teams and drivers.

The livery of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO is designed by Lamborghini Centro Stile, and focuses on the car’s new shapes. The Titan Grey base color celebrates the partnership linking Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Roger Dubuis, which will begin from 2018.

The two brands share the same values, such as the ongoing pursuit of excellence, the search for innovative materials, and obsessive attention to detail during the production of their precision instruments: namely Roger Dubuis watches and Lamborghini cars.

“Lamborghini Squadra Corse is continuing its plan to grow and consolidate its position as a trend setter on the competition scene. We are proud to work with a prestigious brand such as Roger Dubuis; one which shares our values of ongoing innovation and product uniqueness, while always respecting our heritage and with the purpose of thrilling and amazing our customers and all those who love the brand around the world,” said Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini.

Roger Dubuis Chief Executive Officer Jean-Marc Pontroué is clearly revved up about this high-energy partnership: “Like Lamborghini, we deliver ‘engines’ distinguished by their extreme quality and cutting-edge performance. Like the owners of exceptional Italian super sports cars, our customers are interested in standout aesthetics that ensure instant recognition matched by exclusivity and rarity. Combining our talents to deliver exceptional timepieces with unique experiential value, we are therefore placing ourselves in a higher place.”

Huracán Super Trofeo EVO: setting standards in single brand series

The first version of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo unveiled at California’s Monterey Car Week in August 2014 rewrote the rules of single marque series. With over 150 cars sold since its debut and an average annual attendance of 90 cars competing in the four continental championships (Europe, Asia, North America and Middle East), the Huracán Super Trofeo quickly became one of the models setting standards in one-make series.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has developed a profound evolution of the car, it has been extensively reworked, underscoring the particular features that contribute to the model’s success: the performance and thrill of a GT3 but with considerably lower running costs.

“Sophisticated aerodynamics and ultralight materials: the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has been developed based on the two main pillars of the brand’s technology,” explains Maurizio Reggiani, Chief Technology Officer of Automobili Lamborghini. “Like the road version of the Huracán Performante, where use of composites and the drive to achieve maximum aerodynamic efficiency are the basis of levels of uncompromised performance, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO also focuses on these elements, continuing as a category benchmark.”

The new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has been developed following the same philosophy, but raising the bar considerably as far as its features are concerned. This is thanks to its new body kit developed by the team of motorsport engineers at Automobili Lamborghini, working in partnership with Dallara Engineering and Lamborghini Centro Stile.

Their aim was to maintain the same high downforce of the previous model, while achieving higher overall aerodynamic efficiency and so less resistance to forward travel with improved stability.

Aerodynamics

The body kit of the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO is made from carbon fiber, with all its parts completely redesigned. Only the flat floor, the front splitter, and the rear diffuser have not been altered, reflecting the intention to maintain the same downforce and avoid any increase in running costs for customer teams.

“Our customers are the main reason we continue in our pursuit of excellence and ongoing improvement,” comments Giorgio Sanna, Head of Motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini, “and this is why we kept the practical demands of the team and of the drivers in mind when we were designing the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO. As it is a single-brand series, there are no regulatory demands that mean a successful model has to be altered. But with the EVO we wanted to give our customers an even more thrilling experience at the wheel, with superior performance and improved safety.”

One of the more obvious changes in the body kit of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO is the rear fin on the rear hood and the upper air intake.

The side fin on the rear hood is the same solution employed by class LMP1 prototypes for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, by the single-seat Formula One racing cars, and used on a Gran Turismo race car by Lamborghini Squadra Corse for the first time, giving increased stability. Lamborghini’s official development drivers, in ongoing testing of the new Huracán Super Trofeo EVO since last spring, felt a considerable increase in rear stability when taking fast bends along with a reduction in oversteering, resulting in better driving stability and faster cornering.

The airscoop on the roof has two functions: the first is to create dynamic supercharging for the 5.2 liter, 620 hp naturally aspirated V10 engine, generating 3% more torque at maximum speed (280 km/h limited electronically).

The second purpose is to create a general improvement in aspiration: lowering the temperature of the air and, as a consequence, increasing engine torque at all engine speeds, unlike its predecessor, which featured air vents on the sides.

The elimination of the air intakes on the sides has also made it possible to completely redesign the rear of the vehicle, making it more aggressive but most of all more aerodynamically efficient. The upper section of the rear sides is flatter and sharper with a design that has created two channels, which considerably increase the air flow on the rear.

The bottom rocker cover fin on the sides has also become larger than before in order to improve the flow of air towards the radiators and improve cooling.

At the front, the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has a totally new bumper. The lower air intakes are larger, as are the aerodynamic side spoilers (flics), with a larger surface area giving greater aerodynamic load on the front. This also generates an improvement in the overall aerodynamics with a 3% shift in balance towards the front, improving the vehicle’s stability and making it possible to enter bends faster and more precisely.

The front fenders have a flatter and sharper design with new slits in their upper section with a negative louvre, reducing resistance to forward motion. At the center of the front hood, there is a new, hexagonal air intake: its purpose is to lead air inside the vehicle’s interior and lower the ambient temperature to guarantee improved ventilation for the driver.

The rear of the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO also has new features, once again designed with the aim of increasing its aerodynamic efficiency and stability. The rear fenders have a flat, elongated surface towards the rear: their aerodynamic function guarantees a steady and constant disconnection of the air flow from the rear regardless of whether the car is on a bend or a straight section of road, once again resulting in more stability.

The rear spoiler, located immediately underneath the large adjustable wing, has a larger and flatter surface compared to the previous model. This has made it possible to work on the aerodynamic efficiency, recovering more pressure while improving the resistance to forward motion. Lower down, the engine ventilation compartments are considerably bigger than before, improving ventilation of the engine, whereas the new flics improve the flow of air exiting the rear wheels.

The adjustable rear wing sits on new pillars made as before of aluminum, that are larger than previously. However, their weight has not increased. The side tips of the rear wing, the handplates, are also new: the new, larger design contains the impact of air on the wing and increase efficiency.

The new body kit of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has generated a considerable increase in the overall aerodynamic efficiency – 8% less resistance to forward motion – and this can be translated as a clear improvement in track performance. The new model was first tested on the Monza track and recorded a 1.5 seconds better time compared to the previous version: 1’46″3 compared to 1’47″8.

Improved safety thanks to the roof hatch

The improvements made to the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo are not limited to its aerodynamics but also include safety features: one of the main priorities for Lamborghini Squadra Corse during the development of its competition vehicles.

As well as improvements in the vehicle’s driving stability, the roof hatch is also a new element. The hatch had already been introduced on the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 in order to comply with regulations and it has now been fitted on the Super Trofeo EVO in order to increase driver safety.

Further technological specifications

The new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has a new exhaust system in response to the specifications of Lamborghini Squadra Corse. The system includes a new location for the catalytic converters, now between the terminals and the manifolds. This guarantees improved operating efficiency for team engineers and a general lowering of temperatures, thanks to the cooler and more efficient catalytic converters.

The power steering pump has also been altered with higher levels of servo assistance resulting in better feedback for the drivers. Additional optimizations of the software complete the many modifications to the car.

Like the previous model, the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO has an evolved naturally aspirated 5.2 V10 engine derived from the on-road Huracán with power increased up to 620 hp. It has rear wheel drive and X-Track six-gear sequential shift.

The electronics include ABS by Bosch Motorsport and Traction Control by Motec, both with ten-position settings adjusted via controls on the steering wheel.

The list price of the new Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO is 235,000 Euros (plus tax) in Europe and Asia, and 295,000 USD in America.

The car will make its official track debut in the spring of 2018 in three continental series of Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Europe, Asia and North America, where all cars lined up will have the EVO configuration.

The teams that have the current version of Huracán Super Trofeo, will have the opportunity to purchase the aerodynamic body kit to upgrade the car to new specifications.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse just unveiled the next evolution in racing the 2018 Huracan Super Trofeo EVO is a totally modified version of the original car to compete in the 2018 season with a new partner, Swiss high-end watch manufacturer Roger Dubuis.

After more than 150 cars built since the original Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo was introduced three years ago, this new EVO version will compete in Europe, the US, and Asia in the 2018 Super Trofeo series but also in GT Cup races and Endurance series.

The obvious difference between the original Super Trofeo from 2014 and this 2018 EVO is the completely new aerodynamic design with that large air intake above the roof that pulls in the air onto the 620hp V10 with an electronically limited top speed of 280 Km/h the vertical fin on the engine cover similar to those used in LM racing, increases stability at high speed.

Also note there are no air intakes on the sides anymore, which made a total redesign of the rear section possible also note the small vertical fins above the rear wheels by the way, the massive rear wing is totally adjustable and received larger side fins.

All in all, the new aerodynamics have increased the performance of this new model during testing on the Monza race track this 2018 model beat the time of the original Super Trofeo by no less than 1.5 seconds (1’46″3 against 1’47″8).

The engine is still based on the actual road-going model, the 5.2 liter V10 unit with a power increase to 620hp, rear-wheel drive, and an X-Track six-speed sequential gearbox.

Design and Aerodynamics:

The Huracán Super Trofeo EVO features a unique, aggressive design that sets it apart from its road-going counterpart. A new front splitter, larger air intakes, and an adjustable rear wing contribute to the car’s incredible aerodynamics, enabling it to generate significantly more downforce than the previous model. This translates to better handling and cornering stability at high speeds.

The carbon fiber bodywork not only makes the car lighter, but also adds to its overall visual appeal. The design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, contributing to the car’s impressive performance on the track.

Engine and Performance

The Super Trofeo EVO is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, producing 620 horsepower. This engine is mated to a 6-speed X-Trac sequential gearbox, allowing for smooth and rapid gear changes. The car is equipped with rear-wheel drive, which is essential for maintaining stability and control in a racing environment.

Acceleration and Top Speed

This year the Lamborghini World Final will be held in Europe, the famous Valencia track in Spain to be precise, the ‘Ricardo Torma’ track will host no less than 12 races with 600 minutes of high-paced action to select a PRO World Champion, the PRO AM champion, the AM champion and the Lamborghini Cup champion.

At the moment the PRO champion in the Super Trofeo Europe series isn’t certain yet, in the lead we see Dane Dennis Lind, but he is only 6 point ahead of Harald Schlegelmilch … so anything can still change in the final round of the Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe series ahead of the world championship races in Valencia.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia series has been going on for five years already, and the PRO champion for the 2016 season has already been found, Toshiyuki Ochiai and Afiq Yazid are coming to Spain in December to try and become World Champion with their Huracan Super Trofeo race car.

Prestige Performance driver Shinya Michimi has taken the PRO champion title in the North America series of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.

As usual, the races in the Lamborghini World Final will be broadcast live via the live streaming on the official website of Lamborghini Squadra Corse, at http:/ /squadracorse.lamborghini.com/livestreaming.

In 2012 the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series expanded to Asia while for the 2013 season a new Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo was introduced and the series went to North America as a third championship … at the end of the season a race would decide who would become the Super Trofeo world champion.

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-18501 size-full" src="https://www.
In 2015 the Gallardo was replaced by the Huracan LP620-2 for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season in Europe, North America and Asia … and for the 2017 season a fourth one is added: the Middle East Series, with three races in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from February 2017 on.

In fact these three races in the Middle East will offer the drivers from the other three Series to test their cars as those latter Series will start later on, the first race in the Middle East will be held on February 9-11 on the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The second race on February 16-18 will happen on the Dubai Autodrome track while the third and final race will have drivers compete again in Dubai but on a different track layout.

Most likely this fourth Super Trofeo Series will be expanded to more races for the 2018 season, having drivers and customers attending these amazing events in the Middle East will offer the Lamborghini Squadra Corse department even more exposure in this important market.

Second place in the PRO Championship was secured by Daniel Zampieri and Loris Spinelli of the Antonelli Motorsport team while Richard Antinucci and Edoardo Piscopo took the third spot for the Beverly Hills/O’Gara Motorsport team in the PRO category.

In the PRO-AM class the World Champion title was obtained by Corey Lewis for Carolina/Change Racing from the USA, second place was taken by Edoardo Liberati and Yuan Bo who were also the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia 2015 PR0-AM champions while Mikko Eskelinen and Kelvin Snoeks from Leipert Motorsport came in third overall in their class.

Alberto Di Folco scores his first win in SPA-Francorchamps Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Race One.

In Spa, the Italian Alberto Di Folco won his first race in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa, giving his team Raton Racing their first win as well. The Race One result was, however, quite unexpected: the first race of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe’s fourth round was ruled from flag to flag by the Finn Patrick Kujala (Bonaldi Motorsport), who also set the pole position. Kujala was however later penalized with a 10-second penalty for having overtaken the Safety Car at the re-start, and classified sixth.

The 2014 PRO-AM Champion Di Folco achieved P2 in qualifying and constantly chased the leader throughout the race, which saw the two safety cars called in by Race Control. The first incident was after nine minutes when Cyril Leimer crashed, while the second was in the last stages, which saw the retirement of Jacopo Faccioni.

The Italian/Japanese duo made up of Kei Cozzolino and Shinya Michimi (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing) managed P2 overall, edging out the Imperiale Racing pair Alberto Cerqui-Giacomo Barri in the very last lap. Also racing under the Bonaldi Motorsport banner, the German Florian Spengler seized fourth place.

Edoardo Liberati experienced an unlucky race. Starting from P2 on the grid in the other Raton Racing car, the Italian was soon forced to pit and his team-mate Patric Niederhauser ended up at the back of the pack.

The PRO-AM Class saw the second win of the season for Loris Spinelli and Marco Moscato, repeating their result in Silverstone. With a P5 overall they took the flag ahead of their Antonelli Motorsport team-mates Daniel Zampieri and Roman Mavlanov. However, the podium was determined only in the last lap when Simone Pellegrinelli (Imperiale Racing) assured his second place after overtaking the Leipert Motorsport duo of Mikko Eskelinen and Kelvin Snoeks, which led the Class in the race’s early stages.

Mikhail Spiridonov (Kinetic Racing Team) won the AM Class while the Bonaldi Motorsport pair David Perel and Ricardo Vera proved the best in the AM-Gallardo Class.

Driver Quotes

Alberto Di Folco #90 – Raton Racing (Overall and PRO Class winner): “This is more than a win for me as it’s my first overall win in the Super Trofeo and it arrives after quite an unlucky period, which stopped me grasping a podium finish. I would like to thank my team Raton Racing. I’m happy that they could cheer for their first win.”

Loris Spinelli #15 – Antonelli Motorsport (PRO-AM Class winner): “The weekend started in the best possible way for me and my team-mate Marco Moscato. P4 in qualifying and the PRO-AM Class win are also the result of the brilliant job by the team.”

Mikhail Spiridonov #99 – Kinetic Racing Team (AM Class winner): “I’m happy that my first win came in such a demanding race. The car was perfect and I’m confident I can win Race Two as well.”

David Perel #34 – Bonaldi Motorsport (AM Gallardo Class winner): “This was my first ever race in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europa. I could not ask for more.”

Patrick Kujala reconfirmed as the leader of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe, sealing in sixth season’s victory. The Finn racing with Bonaldi Motorsport, won a rainy Race Two leading from pole position to finish under a pouring rain.

Thanks to this win Kujala keeps the lead of the PRO Class. The 19 y/o Di Folco was once more among the protagonists. The young Raton Racing driver, after having achieved his first win in Race One, proved all his skills in wet conditions overtaking in the early stages his team-mate Patric Niederhauser (along with Edoardo Liberati fourth overall) and taking the chequered flag just 1.352 second behind Kujala.

Thumb up for Daniel Zampieri and Roman Mavlanov, once more on podium with the Antonelli Motorsport car. A disappointing P7 though for the Team Lazarus pair made up by Sergio Campana and Fabrizio Crestani, who were second overall before the Spa round in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe.

Simone Pellegrinelli (Imperiale Racing) won the PRO-AM Class, exactly one year after his last win in the Super Trofeo. He also managed to get in the topten edging the Italian/Japanese duo Kei Cozzolino/Shinya Michimi (Vincenzo Sospiri Racing).

P12 and AM Class win for the Artline Team Georgia driver Shota Abkhazava. The David Perel/Ricardo Vera Bonaldi Motorsport pair granted double in the AM – Gallardo Class winning Race Two as well.

The next round of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe, fifth and penultimate of the season, is scheduled for the 19 and 20 September at the German Nürburgring Circuit.

Driver Quotes

Patrick Kujala #32 – Bonaldi Motorsport (Overall and PRO Class winner): “Thanks to this win I’ve increased my margin in the Championship. The fact that Campana-Crestani were back on the result sheet also helped. Rain was not a matter of concern, all went well and I could be satisfied for the outcome of the weekend”.

Simone Pellegrinelli #31 – Imperiale Racing (PRO-AM Class winner): “This is my first win of the season and the first one in the past year. My last win was here in Spa in 2014, and I’m definitely happy to be back on the top podium’s step”.

Shota Abkhazava #78 – Artline Team Georgia (AM Class winner): “Notwithstanding a minor contact at the start, and the rain which deeply affected the whole race, I’ve managed to keep the lead of the AM Class since the very first lap. This represents an important win as it was achieved in challenging conditions”.

David Perel #34 – Bonaldi Motorsport (AM – Gallardo Class winner): “The decision to join this event in Spa was taken only few days ago. I’m glad I won both races even if this represented my debut in the Super Trofeo”.

Last week spy shots were captured of what many believe is the street legal version of the impressive Lamborghini Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo race car, AutoGuide published photos of a black Huracan with a rather interesting exhaust system installed.

In fact the style of exhaust, which shows two tips higher up on the rear fascia of the Huracan instead of the quartet below in the diffuser (which are still there on this test car, but are for show only apparently), looks very much like the system used on the Huracan GT3 racer while the Super Trofeo car has a double exhaust in the center of that same panel.

Looking closely at the black Huracan on the photos it looks like the brakes are slightly larger too while a decal from Becker Carbon, a well-known carbon fiber specialist, might hint at the fact we are looking at a stripped-down, lightweight version of the current production V10 … which might seem strange as Lamborghini has their own carbon fiber research department, so why would they even enlist a third party … might be just a smoke screen however, like all the other decals on the car and the German license plates.

If this is indeed an actual Lamborghini test car it is most likely just a mock up model to test the engine with a new, more free flowing exhaust system that will allow a higher power output from the V10 unit, currently rated at 610hp it would probably be very easy to add 10hp by just changing the exhaust system, which would bring us at the LP620-4 designation, similar to the Super Trofeo race car but with four-wheel drive for the open road.

Now you might ask yourself why only a 10hp power increase … in fact when the Gallardo LP560-4 became the Superleggera edition it was called LP570-4 … a 10hp increase too, but with the reduced weight the Superleggera became a totally different car once on the road, my guess is that will be the same when Lamborghini unveils the Huracan Superleggera edition … an LP620-4 but with 100kg less weight it would be a changed car altogether.

So if we take a look at the just released Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce we might get an idea on how Lamborghini will handle the lightweight version of their V10 super car, on the spy shots the body of the car looks standard, but I’m sure Lamborghini will turn the Huracan Superleggera into a street version of their track cars, so up front we will probably be seeing a more aggressive bumper installed, with massive air intakes but without the ‘canards’ on the side … as those wouldn’t be street legal worldwide.

On the side the stunning lower sills from the Super Trofeo would look amazing on a Huracan Superleggara … I would love to see wider wheel arches and the side sills from the GT3 car on a Superleggera, but I think that would be too wild in fact … a Huracan Superleggera is a race inspired lightweight version of the regular car … not a street legal, rather impractical racer.

Same with the rear lower diffuser, even the one used on the Huracan Super Trofeo might be too much for a street car so for my renders I took inspiration from the Aventador Superveloce and used a rear diffuser in that style … still very aggressive and with those vertical fins for stability, but softened down for road use.

I for one love the ‘hanging’ design of the rear wing on both the Huracan Super Trofeo and Huracan GT3, but for the Superleggera I think a more subtle style like the adjustable rear wing from the Aventador Superveloce might be appropriate here … remember there is always a Squadra Corse edition too, which in case of the Gallardo did come with the Super Trofeo rear wing … you have to leave some space for even wilder versions right?

With the new aerodynamics installed we most likely didn’t shave too much weight from the original Huracan yet, especially that rear wing and lower diffuser would probably counteract any weight loss we managed from the front bumper and side sills … so we need to find more room for improvement … get rid of the original seats with their electric motors and most of the time heating and replace them with lightweight carbon fiber backed units, add carbon fiber door panels and a different exhaust system with those two impressive tips and that 100kg has been lost along the way.

With the exhaust being replaced with a track derived unit and some tweaking of the Engine Management Unit the power output for the Huracan Superleggera could go up to 620 hp making the full denomination probably : Huracan LP620-4 Superleggera, add a nice set of center lock wheels and the race feeling is complete.

And with the Huracan LP610-4 Spyder just around the corner and testing being done on the Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce Spyder it would be highly likely we will also be seeing a Huracan LP620-4 Performante too … the open top version of the Superleggera.

The 2014 Blancpain Super Trofeo series was concluded during the World Final in Sepang with only Gallardo on the grid, however the 2015 season will see the brand new Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo compete together with the earlier Gallardo race car on three continents, Europe, North America and Asia for a total of six races in each series.

However in 2015 the World Final will be held on the same track for all three series … the Sebring race track in Florida USA will be the place where the European, the Asian and the North America Super Trofeo Series will compete their sixth and final round for each series … and culminate in the actual World Final on November 21 to 22nd 2015.

The European Blancpain Super Trofeo series already featured a PRO category for the more experienced drivers behind the wheel of the V10 Lamborghini race car, 2015 will also see this PRO class introduced in Asia and North America while both the new Huracan and the well-known Gallardo will be on the track at the same time.

Naturally the Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe races will be held during the same weekend organized by long term partner SRO (Stéphane Ratel Organization) with the first race of the season on the renowned Italian track at Monza on April 11 and 12. After that the Bulls are shipped to Silverstone for round two on May 23 to 24, round three will bring the Blancpain race cars to Le Castellet in France on June 20 and 21 while round four will be held during the historic 24h de Spa and the world famous Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium on July 25 and 26. The final race on a European track will be at the famous Nürnburgring in Germany on September 19 and 20 before the sixth and final race in Sebring just ahead of the World Final in November.

Over in Asia the Japanese Fuji track starts the season on June 20 to 21, July 11 and 12 will see the Asia Series in Motegi while August 8 and 9 will have the Bulls compete in Malaysia on the first ever street race in the city center of Kuala Lumur. September 5 and 6 will turn the Indonesian track at Sentul into a Blancpain Super Trofeo venue while Shanghai in China will see the Gallardo and Huracan race cars compete against each other on October 17 and 18.

In North America the first race of the Blancpain series will be held on the Laguna Seca track in California on May 2 and 3 before heading to Watkins Glen in New York on June 27 and 28 while Alton in Virginia comes in August 22 and 23. For the first time the Blancpain Super Trofeo series will race at the Cota track in Texas on September 18 and 19 while the fifth race of the season goes to Road Atlanta in Georgia from 1 to 3 October.

Each Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America event will feature two rounds. The season will open May 1-3 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California.

In a recent interview with Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and director of Automobili Lamborghini SpA, the question about a rear wheel drive Huracán came up after seeing the new LP620-2 Super Trofeo race car … which unlike the Gallardo Super Trofeo she succeeds isn’t an all-wheel drive racer anymore … to make the step from Super Trofeo to GT3 racing easier Lamborghini opted to go for rear wheel drive only on their new racer.

He stated the option is surely being considered, keep in mind the current Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 has a normal 30/70 equation between the front and rear wheel drive, but in certain conditions this new V10 can put all the power onto the rear wheels only (and go 50/50 too) … so why would you go for a dedicated rear wheel drive only model then? Just for the fun of it I guess, remember the Gallardo was only available as a limited edition LP550-2 Valentino Balboni at first because Lamborghini wanted to have all their model with power on the four wheels … but a rear wheel drive V10 is so much fun to drive.

Mr Winkelmann also mentioned the customers expect new and special editions from Lamborghini, which can clearly be seen in the multitude of Gallardo editions that have been built, but also now on the Aventador flagship with the special Ad Personam models being shown … so does that mean we’ll be getting a long list of Huracán versions too?

I’m not sure the list will be quite as long as the Gallardo one … but a few things are certain … there will be a convertible version of the new V10 shown pretty soon, the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Spyder will surely be seen at either the October Paris Auto Show or the March 2015 Geneva show in March. Will the Huracán Spyder retain the canvas roof seen on the Gallardo or go for a folding metal top like the competition remains to be seen … but a topless V10 is in the making, that’s for sure.

Next up will most likely be a lightweight version of the current LP610-4 like a Superleggera, which would mean a small power increase and a loss of weight of around 100kg … that would make the Huracán really fly I think … let’s say this will become a Huracán LP620-4 Superleggera in 2016.

With the Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo being unveiled so quickly after the regular street car it is safe to say the street legal version of this racer could be just around the cornet … let’s hope that is going to be a Huracán LP620-2 Squadra Corse … closely based on the Super Trofeo but being legal to drive on the open road with some really wild styling.

If you want to dream ahead of time why not try putting together a Huracán LP620-2 Squadra Corse in our Virtual Car Configurator.

And while we’re at it, we’ve put the option of configuring the Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo also in our Virtual Car Configurator.

Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo makes Global Debut at ‘The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering’

Automobili Lamborghini unveiled its nextgeneration motorsports machine: the new Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo. The car will debut in all three (Europe, Asia and North America) of the brand’s one-make 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series.

The Huracán Super Trofeo marks a new benchmark for the race series. “The Huracán Super Trofeo is an all-new car built from scratch with a clear racing concept,” said Maurizio Reggiani, Board Member and Director of Research and Development for Automobili Lamborghini. “We believe the car will be as fun for fans to watch as it will be rewarding for our racers to drive.”

The redesigned Huracán Super Trofeo was developed in collaboration with Dallara Engineering, with direct involvement by founder Giampaolo Dallara. Dallara’s history with Lamborghini dates back to 1963 when he worked as a Lamborghini engineer and later led the development of the legendary Miura.

The Huracán Super Trofeo adopts the direct-injected V10 engine from the road car, delivering 620 horsepower in race trim, and a rear-drive set-up meant to accelerate the series racers’ transition into GT racing. The vehicle weighs an ultra-light 2,800 lbs, attributed to the hybrid carbon fiber/aluminum chassis and strict motorsports weight reduction. The weight/power ratio is 4.5 lbs/hp.

The aerodynamics provide better efficiency, traction and downforce using a ten-position rear wing, front and rear diffusers as well as adjustable front air intakes. The Huracán Super Trofeo will be exclusively-equipped with Pirelli tires engineered specifically for this application.

After a few teasers the wait is finally over, Automobili Lamborghini SpA has officially unveiled the next-generation race car made in Sant’Agata the Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo that will compete in all three series during the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season, Europe, North America, and Asia.

If you know about the designation Lamborghini has been using for their models you’ll immediately notice something rather strange about the name for this 2015 Super Trofeo car, not only does it gain 10hp over the standard Huracán LP610-4 but this racing derivative is also rear wheel drive only, which is a first for this one-make series both previous Gallardo Super Trofeo editions were all-wheel drive Lamborghini states driving a rear wheel drive only Huracán will allow the pilots to evolve into GT racing more easily.

Thanks to the hybrid carbon fiber/aluminum chassis of the Lamborghini Huracán this racing variant weighs only 1,270 Kgs (2,800 Lbs) which brings an impressive weight/power ratio of 2kg/hp (4.5 lbs/hp) to the track I’m sure this car will bring a lot of spectacle to the race track next year.

In fact, the new Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo was developed by the Squadra Corse department in collaboration with Dallara Engineering we all remember the founder of the latter, Giampaolo Dallara, as one of the members of the initial team that was there when Automobili Lamborghini SpA was founded back in 1963, Dallara also worked on the Miura by the way so the Huracán Super Trofeo heritage goes back a long way.

According to Maurizio Reggiani, Director of Research and Develoment for Lamborghini, the 2015 Huracán LP620-2 Super Trofeo was built from scratch as a race car, hence it is an all-new car that might look like a wider version of the street car, and yes it does use the same V10 direct-injection engine but that is where the comparison ends the LP620-2 is a true racing concept turned into reality.

Performance

The Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo is powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that produces 620 horsepower, which is directed to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox with a mechanical limited-slip differential. This rear-wheel-drive configuration, as opposed to the standard Huracán’s all-wheel-drive, provides a more engaging driving experience and enables greater handling precision.

The Super Trofeo can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 2.8 seconds, thanks to its lightweight construction, efficient aerodynamics, and powerful engine. With a top speed of around 200 mph, it is well-suited to excel on the racetrack. The car is fitted with a performance-oriented suspension, ensuring excellent grip and stability through corners, while the large carbon-ceramic brakes provide consistent and reliable stopping power.

Design & Aerodynamics

The Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo showcases an aggressive and purposeful design, with improved aerodynamics and lightweight construction compared to its road-going counterpart. The car features a large fixed rear wing, front splitter, and rear diffuser, which work together to generate significant downforce and enhance cornering capabilities. The bodywork is made primarily from carbon-fiber composite materials, reducing overall weight and improving performance.

Interior: As a race car, the Super Trofeo’s interior is focused on functionality and driver engagement. The racing bucket seats, equipped with a six-point harness, ensure optimal safety and support. A digital dashboard display provides drivers with vital information, while a multifunction steering wheel enables easy access to vehicle settings and controls. The interior is stripped of most creature comforts, further emphasizing the car’s racing pedigree and commitment to performance.

Safety: The Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo is built on an aluminum and carbon-fiber chassis that provides both lightweight construction and excellent rigidity. The car is equipped with a roll cage and fire suppression system, meeting FIA safety standards for GT racing. Additionally, the Super Trofeo features ABS and traction control systems, which can be adjusted by the driver to suit their driving preferences and track conditions.

Conclusion

The Lamborghini Huracán LP 620-2 Super Trofeo is a remarkable race car that blends raw performance, aggressive styling, and cutting-edge technology to create an unforgettable driving experience. While it may not be suited for everyday driving, it excels in the environment for which it was designed – the racetrack. With its formidable capabilities, the Super Trofeo is a prime example of Lamborghini’s dedication to engineering excellence and pushing the limits of automotive performance.

Looks like the Squadra Corse department at Automobili Lamborghini SpA isn’t wasting any time … they have the Super Trofeo version of the brand new Huracán LP610-4 already in an advanced stage of development, in fact they plan to take the car to renowned Vallelunga track in Italy to start shakedown testing.

This will allow Chief Test driver Giorgio Sanna to fine-tune the new competitor in the Super Trofeo Series 2015 season, together with Adrian Zaugg and Fabio Babini, two official Super Trofeo test drivers and support from the Young Drivers Program the Squadra Corse team will finalize development of the new car so it can be entered in all three Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series next year, where the Huracán will compete against the current Gallardo race car … albeit in a different class.

At the moment all efforts are focused on the development of the Huracán Super Trofeo car, but the press release also states “the New Huracán Super Trofeo will ensure Lamborghini a key role in international motor sport” … so I guess a GT3 version of the new V10 Bull won’t be too far behind.

Only a dark teaser shot has been published right now, but we already notice a square center air intake, what looks like modified headlights, in front of the windshield the triangular outlets are back and on top of the fenders a series of slots have been installed … of these fenders are widened isn’t really visible on the teaser shot, but my guess would be yes.

Can’t wait to see more photos, and different angles of the Huracán Super Trofeo race car …

During an interview with Giorgio Sanna at the Monza stint of the 2014 Blancpain Super Trofeo championship it quickly became obvious the new Squadra Corse department under the supervision of Max Welti intends to get seriously involved in racing Lamborghini in the very near future.

While we all were expecting renowned Reiter Engineering GmbH to continue their amazing work of converting street Lamborghinis into full bred GT3 race cars it has now become obvious Automobili Lamborghini SpA intends to take matters in their own hand and create a Huracan GT3 race car themselves.

But first things first … Giorgio Sanna confirmed the in-house development of the Huracan Super Trofeo will be the main priority, in fact we might even be seeing the brand new V10 model on the track as soon as 2015 already … while the Gallardo based Super Trofeo race car can still compete in the 2015 season too.

Not all teams that will compete in the 2015 Blancpain Super Trofeo championship will be forced to buy the brand new Huracan race car, they will be allowed to continue driving the Gallardo based car as a cost saving measure.

Keep in mind the Huracan is in fact more powerful than the Gallardo she succeeded, a full two seconds quicker on the Nardo circuit actually … this could mean we’ll be seeing a rather special 2015 season of the Blancpain Super Trofeo … will the teams operating the Huracan model be penalized with additional weight to balance out the performance against the Gallardo … or will there be two ‘series’ … one that will give points to Huracan driving teams only and a second that will have Gallardos compete?

Obviously the details haven’t been published … or even set yet, but if we do see the new V10 Huracan Super Trofeo race car next year already I think it will be a very interesting Blancpain Super Trofeo championship indeed.

So when will a Huracan GT3 come around … it will be created after the Super Trofeo model, so that would be 2016 at the earliest before we’ll be seeing a V10 compete in the Blancpain Endurance Series … when Squadra Corse unleashes a Huracan GT3 onto the scene what will Reiter Engineering offer as competition? Why not an Aventador GT3 … now that would be interesting to say the least, or a privately owned Huracan GT3 specs?

The 2014 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo season will again be held on three continents, Europe, Asia and North America after which the world final takes places in Sepang, Malaysia in late November 2014 … the first rounds of the 2014 season took place in Sebring, Florida … round one and two of the Super Trofeo North America series.

A total of 7 teams with each two cars on the grid came to the oldest road racing circuit in America to compete against each other being closely followed by more than 100,000 visitors … the fastest lap time during the free practice sessions was set by PRO-AM champion Andrew Palmer in car number 14, in the actual qualifying stint Andrew took pole position with a 2:05.726 time, Kevin Conway took second spot and Al Carter would start the first race in third position.

During an action packed Round 1 a fierce battle went on until the last lap when Al Carter mode a bold move an managed to overtake Kevin Conway to take the first win of the season in car number 80, the PRO class standing were Al Carter, Kevin Conway and John Farano taking third position on the stage. For the Amateur title David Ockey took first spot, Bryn Owen and Tom O’Gara took second and third respectively … time to focus on Round 2 for all the drivers.

In Round 2 Andrew Palmer had to start in fourth position, but it didn’t take him long to reach the pole position … feeling the pressure from Al Carter and Kevin Conway just behind him … each lap Andrew Palmer managed to increase the gap between him and Al Carter by half a second until the mandatory pit stops took place.

Palmer managed to increase his lead to more than 60 seconds, with Conway taking second place before Carter in the third spot … unfortunately both Carter and Conway had to perform a drive through penalty so the podium was still open for change … even more so when the safety car came onto the track and caused most drivers to catch up to each other.

The chequered flag came down with Kevin Conway in first place, John Farano took second and Kevin O’Connell with James Contreras too the third spot … but the Amateur class is where the big surprise came from, first spot went to David Ockey, second was secured by Bryn Owen … but here comes the really impressive feat: Brett David took third place in his very first competition race … Sebring was in fact Brett’s racing debut … keeping in mind Brett David owns Lamborghini Miami which he inherited when his father passed away … which makes Brett dedicating his podium place to his father even more impressive … he’s already being called the Boy Wonder of the 2014 Super Trofeo North America series … next up is Laguna Seca in Monterey on May 2-4.

A lot of rumors have been going round on the internet lately, everything from a street legal Sesto Elemento to a production version of the Estoque has been quoted as the car to be unveiled at the 2011 edition of the IAA in Frankfurt but Automobili Lamborghini SpA went his own route as usual and finally unveiled the star of the show: a Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale, a street legal version of the radical Super Trofeo race car.

Only 150 units of this most extreme Gallardo ever will be built, and it is not only the name the street car received from the racing sibling, check out that rear wing. Yes, you are seeing things right, this is the same one as used on the race car, adjustable albeit by hand and not electrically but still this massive wing is able to create three times the down force compared to the regular LP560-4 rear wing.

But the similarities don’t end here, that large rear wing is sitting on a Super Trofeo engine cover, which retained the quick release levers, so instead of opening in the regular way as seen on the earlier Gallardo models, this one comes away from the car completely both cover and wing are naturally made from carbon fiber.

The race derived V10 engine is mounted in this Stradale version, pumping out a healthy 570 ps it propels this new limited edition to a top speed of no less than 320 Km/h, for most people an academic value only as they will probably never reach that speed in their own Raging Bull, but the acceleration figures are equally impressive, 0 to 100 Km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds and the 200 Km/h mark is reached in only 10.4 seconds all thanks to a power to weight ratio of 2.35 kgs per Hp from a dry weight of 1340 kgs which is 70 kgs less than the original LP560-4 model and equals the weight of the Superleggera version.

If you know your racing history, you should be aware of some basics here. Remember Racing Green? That adorned most race cars from the United Kingdom back in the days, while a blue shade was used on many cars from France, white and silver were trademarks colors on German racers and the famous white cars with blue stripes could be seen on many Ford GT from the United States so which shade is still missing? Red and as a matter of fact red was used on Italian race cars, so Automobili Lamborghini SpA put a new shade called Rosso Mars on this Gallardo model.

Taken into account that red was a special order shade before, this is a very bold move have you seen many Gallardo, be it the original 5-Liter, the Spyder or the LP560-4 in red? I don’t think so, on the Diablo the Rosso shade was used a lot, just like on the Countach before it, but on the Murcielago it wasn’t a popular shade either, and by the time the LP640 and Gallardo came on the market the classic Rosso was no longer a normal or optional color, it was moved into the Ad Personam programme, hence rather expensive and it became rare.

An unofficial reason for this was the fact Lamborghini wanted to move away from the shade as it was a trademark on the competition from Maranello but now on the Super Trofeo Stradale it is back, but in Rosso Mars version, which isn’t really bright red anyway but a bit darker, again setting the Gallardo apart from the Prancing Horse models.

Take a closer look at the Super Trofeo Stradale and you notice an amazing looking combination of high gloss red paint and mat black on the rear wing and engine cover, but the wheels are finished in a stunning, glossy black shade while hiding beautifully red painted brake calipers. Note that the car in these press photos also has the glossy black roof section, which is an option actually, not a standard feature on the Stradale. But carbon fiber isn’t missing from this new Lamborghini either, the large rear diffuser, exterior rear view mirrors and side sills are made from this strong, lightweight material.
Just in case you are not a fan of the new Rosso Mars shade you can specify to have your very own Super Trofeo Stradale finished in Grigio Telesto or Bianco Monocerus both non-metallic shades in case you are wondering I think a white Stradale with the black roof would look very nice too.

If you open the door on this red car you are greated with lots of Alcantara and glossy carbon fiber, the red shade from the outside is repeated inside on the lower part of the dashboard, the mid section on the awesome race inspired sport seats, the hand brake ‘sock’ and for the ‘puller’ to close the door which is lined in full carbon fiber inside matching the central console and lower part of the steering wheel, which is finished in black Alcantara apart from a small section at the top of the steering wheel, to make sure you know when the wheels are pointing forward.

The rest of the interior is covered in black Alcantara with many parts using red stitching and several Super Trofeo Stradale logos, one on the dashboard, one on the side of the seats, but there is more, on the doorsill you are also greeted by this logo while both the rear wing and the front spoiler are graced with this logo too just to make sure people know you are driving the latest and bravest Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale limited edition Raging Bull.

On the Stradale the brakes are one of kind in the automotive world, the ESP is standard on this car but the carbon-ceramic discs are an option as not every customer likes the way these behave, which is a bit different compared to regular steel discs, the latter are ventilated and measure 365mm both front and rear, however the carbon-ceramic versions are 380mm at the front, the rear remain at 365mm.

Just like carbon-ceramic disc brakes are derived from the race track, some other options found their origin on the track too, like the tubular roll-over cage inside, or the four point seat belts to complement those stunning seats and what about an automatic fire extinguisher ? But not all customers want a Spartan race car on their driveway, for those clients the sat-nav can still be mounted together with a Bleutooth connection for your phone or an anti-theft system. And one more important option could be a life saver the front lift system that allows you to get onto your driveway in the first place.

So is the exotic super car world waiting for yet another limited edition based on the Lamborghini Gallardo, or would they like a real successor to tackle the competition from Maranello with the 458 ? Well only the future can tell, but I’m sure Automobili Lamborghini SpA is already working hard on a brand new V10 model that will rule the roads once again in the very near future, but for now we will have to settle for this very special Gallardo model, and with only 150 units to be built in total, this one will again become an instant collectible once the supply dries up.

And you must admit the combination of red and black does work like a charm on this Super Trofeo Stradale it has been a while since I’ve seen a red Gallardo anyway, so I for one am looking forward seeing it in real life out in the wild.
