Only 20 Centenario would be built (and 20 Centenario Roadster) at a price per unit of €1,750,000 before options (the full carbon fiber body was a €300,000 option by the way) and before the unveiling at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, nobody had seen the car in real life yet … only a hologram and some design sketches … still, all 20 units were sold out before the general public ever got to see this new Lamborghini.

Several possible customers probably weren’t able to get hold of a Lamborghini Centenario back in 2016, but now Mecum Auctions is offering all of them a second chance … one of the 20 Centenario coupe is going to auction in Monterey in late August 2018, this one is finished in a stunning Nero Aldebaran and comes with red livery, also the interior combines black Alcantara with red details.

This specific Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 has covered only 49 Miles since new, so it is clear this is still a brand new Raging Bull, and will probably not come cheap when people start bidding on her in August … I for one can’t wait to see how much her new owner is willing to pay to add this rare Lamborghini to his (or her) collection.

The 2018 Monterey auctions are going to be really interesting, as both Mecum and RM Auctions-Sotheby are listing no less than 18 different Lamborghini during the event … and some of them are equally as impressive as the above mentioned Centenario.

How about a 2008 Lamborghini Reventon? Just as with the Centenario, only 20 Reventon have ever been built, with a mere 188 miles this nr 20/20 will surely set a new record for Reventon prices, and that will be difficult as other Reventon sold for more than $1,300,000 in 2015 and 2017.

No less than three Lamborghini Miura will be available to bid on in August, an original P400, a P400S and one of the highly sought after Miura SV models, this specific one was in fact owned by none other than Claudio Zampolli, with an estimate between $2,200,000 and $2,400,000 this might be the most expensive Bull sold at the Monterey auction … if the Centenario doesn’t get a higher bid that is.

A few Countach are also listed for auction, a late model Quattrovalvole finished in yellow and a very interesting Countach LP400S, one of the early, low body models … the latter comes with an estimate between $500,000 and $600,000 … so these Countach aren’t cheap anymore.

The auctions at Monterey will also see a few Diablo passing the selling block, one of only 900 first generation models from 1991, a very nice looking Diablo VT Roadster … but also a one of only 12 1999 Diablo Alpine edition. Or a one of 20 Diablo VT 6.0 Special Edition, this one finished in the stunning Marrone Eklipsis … also one of only 2 Diablo VT 6.0 finished in Monterey Blue … but my favorite would be the black Diablo SE30, one of only 150 ever built, comes with a high estimate of $750,000.

On a more recent note a very nice 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder is also listed, finished in an amazing looking yellow metallic over a full yellow leather upholstery, or a 2008 Gallardo Superleggera in Arancio Borealis, another stunning shade on the early V10 models.

Two other interesting Lamborghini will be at the Monterey auction, one being a magnificent 1988 LM002, the original Lamborghini SUV, this being a rare carburetor version it should be worth up to $450,000 … while another off-road Lamborghini would be the 1964 R2 Tractor.

It is safe to say a lot of money will change hands that last weekend of August in Monterey when these and many other high-end cars will pass the auction block.

This clear carbon fiber bodied version came with orange livery instead of the yellow livery seen on the Geneva show car, it is still unclear if this is a factory supplied car or if it is indeed a customer owned one from the mere 20 that have been built at Sant’Agata … at a base price of $1,750,000 each, this specific Centenario comes with the clear carbon fiber option … which is rumored to cost $300,000 on its own.

In Transformers: The Last Knight this Lamborghini Centenario plays the role of Hot Rod, a character that has become iconic in the series ever since he killed Optimus Prime in the 1986 Transformers: The Movie animated film to become the new leader … called Rodimus Prime … if something similar is going to happen in this new Transformers movie is unclear … you’ll have to go and see it for yourself in a theater near you.

This highly-anticipated Centenario Coupe is the first Centenario to be delivered in the entire Asia-Pacific region. This Centenario model in particular takes exclusivity to another level with its custom-requested full carbon-fibre exterior body in gloss finish, contrasted by the roof and lower-part in matt carbon-fibre finish – made possible by Lamborghini’s Ad Personam customization program.

The Centenario continues Lamborghini’s one-off strategy and demonstrates Lamborghini’s innovative design and engineering competencies. Design and aerodynamics

The Centenario is the truest expression of Lamborghini’s commitment to new and inspirational design, allowing Lamborghini designers and engineers the freedom to create a technology demonstrator in the form of a limited edition.

The Centenario’s pure and essential lines are evident in a new design language throughout, demonstrating the quintessence of Lamborghini’s commitment to ‘form follows function’. The car has a permeability defined by the intakes, outlets and ducts that mark its aerodynamic superiority.

A mono line from front to back defines the recognizable Lamborghini contours, with long, low overhangs front and rear creating a clean, sensuous, mono-body shape. The Centenario measures 4.924 m long and 1.143 m high. Aerodynamic inlets made of several fins characterize both front and rear. Large air scoops in the front bonnet, while reminiscent of 1970s sports cars, are there for functionality: air is taken in through the car’s front contributing to downforce on the front axle.

Furthermore, air flows through ducts within the front headlight casing and others in the side skirts and around the wheel arches, improving the airflow to the rear radiators and providing optimized cooling. The roof including air scoops, takes its styling from aeronautic cues, enhanced by a hexagonal carbon fibre and glass engine cover.

The body of the Centenario is defined in a gloss carbon fibre. The front bonnet, scissor door panels (always reserved for V12 models) and roof line are fluent, aerodynamic and organic: the lower parts in matt carbon fibre are functional, technical and dedicated to aerodynamic superiority, including front splitter, side skirts, wheel arches and rear diffuser.

The irregular wheel arches, both front and rear, are a defining feature of the Centenario, as they have been in other Lamborghini models. Accented in matt carbon fibre and concealing airflow ducts, they highlight the aerodynamic design of the car. The profile of the rear wheel arch particularly attracts attention, accentuating the Centenario’s rear-wheel steering. Pirelli P Zero tires, developed specifically for the rear-wheel steering, sit on exclusive 20″/21″ front/rear rims in forged and milled aluminum. The spokes’ fan shape, accented in carbon fibre, mask ducts extracting hot air from the carbon ceramic brakes, finished with a central-locking wheel nut sporting the Lamborghini bull logo.

The integrated rear diffuser dominates the back of the car, its substantial dimension optimizing air flow distribution, maximizing the car’s downforce and aesthetically emphasizing the importance of aerodynamics in the Centenario.

Like many mechanical parts around the car, exposed to maximize heat exchange, the rear tires are visible, while floating in the void above the diffuser are the Centenario’s ‘Y’-shaped rear lights.

Seemingly suspended in air but attached at each end of the ‘Y’, the LED lights stretch the full width of the rear. The Centenario is as distinct at night as it is during the day.

An extendable rear wing is integrated in body when stationary or at low speeds to preserve the minimalist lines of the Centenario. According to vehicle dynamic conditions and Driving Mode chosen, the wing extends to 150mm and rotates up to 15 degrees for optimal aerodynamic efficiency in high performance conditions.

Power and performance

The Centenario takes Lamborghini’s V12 engine as its power plant, perfectly matching the dynamic potential of the car. The highly responsive engine, even at low revs, provides the unmistakable resonance and characteristics that only a naturally aspirated engine can. Uprated to provide an output of 770 hp (566 kW) and with the engine speed limiter raised from 8,350 rpm to 8,600 rpm, the Centenario’s is the most powerful engine produced by Lamborghini to date.

Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and from 0-300 km/h in just 23.5 seconds, the Centenario’s top speed is more than 350 km/h. Braking distances are equally impressive: from 100-0 km/h in just 30 m and from 300-0 km/h in 290 m.

Chassis and drive

The body of the Centenario is built entirely in carbon fiber, with a monocoque and all other body parts and trims in carbon fiber. With a dry weight of just 1,520 kg, the Centenario achieves a weight-to-power ratio of 1.97 kg/hp and a torsional stiffness of 35.000 Nm per degree.

With permanent four-wheel drive, the Centenario adopts a new Lamborghini rear-wheel steering system. At low speeds the rear tires turn in the opposite direction of the steering angle which leads to a virtual reduction of the wheelbase. This provides increased turning agility at low speeds, requiring less steering angle and a reduced turning radius. At high speeds the rear tires turn in the same direction of the steering angle which leads to a virtual increase of the wheelbase. As a result the rear-wheel steering provides increased stability and optimizes vehicle response. In the three Lamborghini driving modes, Strada, Sport and Corsa, the rear-wheel steering heightens the characteristics of each, particularly in lateral dynamics.

The Centenario is fitted with Lamborghini’s magneto rheological suspension and Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS), especially tuned for the Centenario’s rearwheel steering and providing optimal responsiveness and driver feedback. Transmission is via Lamborghini’s Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) gearbox, providing a lightweight and emotive solution to achieving the fastest gearshifts possible.

Interior – luxury and functionality

The luxurious interior can be finished to each Centenario client’s specification. Sports seats in lightweight carbon fiber are included, with new stitching that features on the length of the dashboard, steering wheel, sunvisors, rocker covers, and the new inner door panels made of carbon fiber and Alcantara.

Functionality and connectivity are essential features of the Centenario. Including satellite navigation, a high definition 10.1 inch touchscreen connects the Centenario driver to both the car and the outside world. Users may browse the internet, connect to email and social media and use online applications such as web radio. Apple CarPlay is included, allowing a safe, effective way to make calls, request directions, play music and access the functionality of an iPhone.

The infotainment system includes a sophisticated telemetry function: the Centenario provides ultimate performance, both on road and, should an owner wish, on track: as evidenced by space for two helmets in the front trunk! The highly sophisticated telemetry allows speeds, times, lateral and G forces to be recorded and even compared between different occasions and different drivers. Two optional interior cameras allow the drivers’ experiences to be recorded.

20 coupés and 20 roadsters

The Centenario will be produced as a limited edition, with only 20 coupés and 20 roadsters All 40 Centenario models are sold, to collectors and Lamborghini enthusiasts around the world. The company OPAC has been an important partner involved in the new model’s construction together with Lamborghini’s Research & Development department.

Shown in Geneva in an entirely carbon fiber finish, clients can specify their Centenario to include exposed carbon fiber or any color and finish from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalization program.

The Centenario continues Lamborghini’s strategy of producing one-off cars and exclusive limited editions, which allow scope for exploring design and technology possibilities while heightening brand awareness. Starting with the Reventón and including the Sesto Elemento, Aventador J and Veneno, every car has proved its instant appeal, achieved iconic status, and increased in value.

But fear not, as the Lamborghini Centenario will be featured in the new Forza Horizon 3 game to be released on September 27th 2016, just one day ahead of the press days at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris by the way, and to celebrate the gameplay you can get behind the wheel of this multi-million Euro super car an actual Centenario is on display during E3 in the Los Angeles Convention Center from July 14 to July 16 … in fact it is the first time the car is shown to the public in North America.

What’s even more, the Centenario is in fact the cover car for the game, and it surely isn’t the only Lamborghini you could be driving in Forza Horizon 3, in total 350 cars are available in the game, a complete list hasn’t been published yet, but if you would get the ‘Motorsport All-Stars Car Pack’ you will be able to take the wheel of a 2015 Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo, the #63 car in fact … or take a VIP membership and get the 2016 Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce among others.

In the previous version of the game, Forza Horizon 2 the list of Lamborghini was already impressive, starting with the 1967 Miura P400 going to the 1986 LM002, the 1988 Countac Quattrovalvole, the 1988 Jalpa, the 1997 Diablo SV, 2010 Murciélago LP670-4 Super Veloce, the 2011 Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, the 2012 Aventador LP700-4, the 2012 Urus, the 2013 Veneno LP750-4 with the cover car for this version being the 2014 Huracán LP610-4 … now if all these Bulls will also be available in Forza Horizon 3 isn’t said, we’ll have to wait and see …

The base price of a Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 was set at €1,750,000 before taxes, however the Geneva show car had a rather expensive option fitted … a €300,000 clear carbon fiber body, combining both glossy and matte finished carbon fiber being visible everywhere while details on the front bumper, side sills and rear diffuser received a yellow finish for added contrast … however those 20 fortunate people that put their order in already can select from any shade possible, including the entire Ad Personam list.

Note that in addition to 20 Centenario Coupé as seen in Geneva there will also be 20 Centenario Roadster built, no styling on that one has been released yet, but the same options are available on the open top version … painted body or clear carbon fiber body, and I guess the 0/20 Roadster will also remain at the factory in the end.

So let’s take a look at how the Lamborghini Centenario would look in some of the more popular shades that have been leaving the factory doors on both the Aventador and the Huracán… a bright orange metallic like Arancio Argos would look amazing on the Centenario, just as Giallo Orion would by the way.

But how about the now popular Blu Nova or Blu LeMans shade, even combined with a red livery that would look really amazing, almost a super hero car in fact … while a full black finish would be more suited for another comic book hero … or Verde Ithaca … and why not that stunning Rosso Bia shade we’ve seen on the Aventador Superveloce?

Come to think about it … the Centenario is celebrating the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini, you could order your very own Centenario in that special 30th Anniversary lavender metallic shade called Lambo Thirty … or the Verde Artemis shade used on the Murciélago 40th Anniversary edition and combine that with titanium finished wheels.

Dark shades might look on the new Lamborghini, like Blu Achelous or the very special Verde Ermes shades, rather uncommon but still very special paint finishes just like the still popular Grigio Telesto also seen on the Murciélago Super Veloce China Edition.

Brighter shades like Oro Elios are another possibility to set your Centenario apart from the others, I do hope at least one would be ordered in Blu Glauco, a very special shade of blue, while Blu Caelum wouldn’t look too bad either … or perhaps Verde Scandal … now that would be really special.

However, if you really want to get something special on an already very exclusive car you should go for a two tone finish … like Arancio Argos with clear carbon fiber … I’ve been told you can only order the entire car in carbon fiber, or the entire car painted … but nothing is keeping an owner of a clear carbon fiber car to wrap parts of the car to get a two-tone look.

Design and aerodynamics

The Centenario is the truest expression of Lamborghini’s commitment to new and inspirational design, allowing Lamborghini designers and engineers the freedom to create a technology demonstrator in the form of a limited edition.

The Centenario’s pure and essential lines are evident in a new design language throughout, demonstrating the quintessence of Lamborghini’s commitment to ‘form follows function’. The car has a permeability, defined by the intakes, outlets and ducts that mark its aerodynamic superiority.

A mono line from front to back defines the recognisable Lamborghini contours, with long, low overhangs front and rear creating a clean, sensuous, mono-body shape. The Centenario measures 4.924 m long and 1.143 m high. Aerodynamic inlets made of several fins characterize both front and rear. Large air scoops in the front bonnet, while reminiscent of 1970s sports cars, are there for functionality: air is taken in through the car’s front contributing to downforce on the front axle.

Furthermore, air flows through ducts within the front headlight casing and others in the sideskirts and around the wheel arches, improving the airflow to the rear radiators and providing optimized cooling. The roof including air scoops, takes its styling from aeronautic cues, enhanced by a hexagonal carbon fibre and glas engine cover.

The body of the Centenario is defined in a gloss carbon fibre. The front bonnet, scissor door panels (always reserved for V12 models) and roof line are fluent, aerodynamic and organic: the lower parts in matt carbon fibre are functional, technical and dedicated to aerodynamic superiority, including front splitter, side skirts, wheel arches and rear diffuser.

The irregular wheel arches, both front and rear, are a defining feature of the Centenario, as they have been in other Lamborghini models. Accented in matt carbon fibre and concealing airflow ducts, they highlight the aerodynamic design of the car. The profile of the rear wheel arch particularly attracts attention, accentuating the Centenario’s rear-wheel steering. Pirelli PZero tyres, developed specifically for the rear-wheel steering, sit on exclusive 20″/21″ front/rear rims in forged and milled aluminium. The spokes’ fan shape, accented in carbon fibre, mask ducts extracting hot air from the carbon ceramic brakes, finished with a central-locking wheel nut sporting the Lamborghini bull logo.

The integrated rear diffuser dominates the back of the car, its substantial dimension optimising air flow distribution, maximising the car’s downforce and aesthetically emphasising the importance of aerodynamics in the Centenario. Like many mechanical parts around the car, exposed to maximise heat exchange, the rear tyres are visible, while floating in the void above the diffuser are the Centenario’s ‘Y’-shaped rear lights. Seemingly suspended in air but attached at each end of the ‘Y’, the LED lights stretch the full width of the rear. The Centenario is as distinct at night as it is during the day.

An extendable rear wing is integrated in body when stationary or at low speeds to preserve the minimalist lines of the Centenario. According to vehicle dynamic conditions and Driving Mode chosen, the wing extends to 150mm and rotates up to 15 degrees for optimal aerodynamic efficiency in high performance conditions.

Power and performance

The Centenario takes Lamborghini’s V12 engine as its powerplant, perfectly matching the dynamic potential of the car. The highly responsive engine, even at low revs, provides the unmistakeable resonance and characteristics that only a naturally aspirated engine can. Uprated to provide an output of 770 hp (566 kW) and with the engine speed limiter raised from 8,350 rpm to 8,600 rpm, the Centenario’s is the most powerful engine produced by Lamborghini to date.

Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and from 0-300 km/h in just 23.5 seconds, the Centenario’s top speed is more than 350 km/h. Braking distances are equally impressive: from 100-0 km/h in just 30 m and from 300-0 km/h in 290 m.

Chassis and drive

The body of the Centenario is built entirely in carbon fiber, with a monocoque and all other body parts and trims in carbon fiber. With a dry weight of just 1,520 kg, the Centenario achieves a weight-to-power ratio of 1.97 kg/hp and a torsional stiffness of 35.000 Nm per degree.

With permanent four-wheel drive, the Centenario adopts a new Lamborghini rear-wheel steering system. At low speeds the rear tires turn in the opposite direction of the steering angle which leads to a virtual reduction of the wheelbase. This provides increased turning agility at low speeds, requiring less steering angle and a reduced turning radius. At high speeds the rear tires turn in the same direction of the steering angle which leads to a virtual increase of the wheelbase. As a result the rear-wheel steering provides increased stability and optimises vehicle response. In the three Lamborghini driving modes, Strada, Sport and Corsa, the rear-wheel steering heightens the characteristics of each, particularly in lateral dynamics.

The Centenario is fitted with Lamborghini’s magneto rheological suspension and Lamborghini Dynamic Steering (LDS), especially tuned for the Centenario’s rearwheel steering and providing optimal responsiveness and driver feedback. Transmission is via Lamborghini’s Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) gearbox, providing a lightweight and emotive solution to achieving the fastest gearshifts possible.

Interior – luxury and functionality

The luxurious interior can be finished to each Centenario client’s specification. Sports seats in lightweight carbon fiber are included, with new stitching that features on the length of the dashboard, steering wheel, sunvisors, rocker covers, and the new inner door panels made of carbon fiber and Alcantara.

Functionality and connectivity are essential features of the Centenario. Including satellite navigation, a high definition 10.1 inch touchscreen connects the Centenario driver to both the car and the outside world. Users may browse the internet, connect to email and social media and use online applications such as web radio. Apple CarPlay is included, allowing a safe, effective way to make calls, request directions, play music and access the functionality of an iPhone.

The infotainment system includes a sophisticated telemetry function: the Centenario provides ultimate performance, both on road and, should an owner wish, on track: as evidenced by space for two helmets in the front trunk! The highly sophisticated telemetry allows speeds, times, lateral and G forces to be recorded and even compared between different occasions and different drivers.
Two optional interior cameras allow the drivers’ experiences to be recorded.

20 coupés and 20 roadsters

The Centenario will be produced as a limited edition, with only 20 coupés and 20 roadsters to be delivered from autumn 2016 and throughout 2017. All 40 Centenario models are sold, to collectors and Lamborghini enthusiasts around the world at a start price of 1.75 million euro plus tax. The company OPAC has been an important partner involved in the new model’s construction together with Lamborghini’s Research & Development department. Shown in Geneva in an entirely carbon fiber finish, clients can specify their Centenario to include exposed carbon fiber or any colour and finish from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam personalisation programme.

The Centenario continues Lamborghini’s strategy of producing one-off cars and exclusive limited editions, which allow scope for exploring design and technology possibilities while heightening brand awareness. Starting with the Reventón and including the Sesto Elemento, Aventador J and Veneno, every car has proved its instant appeal, achieved iconic status, and increased in value.

Fast forward to February 2016 when, after the name ‘Centenario LP770-4’ had been trademarked by Automobili Lamborghini SpA, the first look at the design of this new Raging Bull was found online in the trademarking of 3D renders for the styling of the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 response was mixed, but keeping in mind these were black and white 3D views we still had to wait to see the car in real life before making final judgment.

We all knew the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 just had to be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show during the first press day on March 1, and usually VAG has a big VIP event the evening before where they show the new cars from the VAG Group on February 29 the new Bugatti Chiron was shown and the Lamborghini Huracan Avio, a special edition built only 250 times but no Centenario, not even on the official press site what was going on?

It seems Lamborghini really wanted to keep the Centenario a secret until the actual press conference at 10:05 on stand 1044 and they succeeded, we all had to wait until Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and president of Automobili Lamborghini SpA proudly introduced the very special, limited edition model to celebrate Ferruccio the Centenario LP770-4 would be the last Lamborghini Winkelmann would unveil as he was to leave Lamborghini in March 2016 to join Quattro GmbH as a new challenge.

The moment the black satin cover was removed from the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 by two lovely hostess the crowd surrounding the Lamborghini stand was impressed by the looks of this exclusive new V12 finished in a stunning clear carbon fiber finish with yellow details this car looked like nothing ever to be built in Sant’Agata this was truly a celebration model.

The Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will be built only 40 times 20 as a closed coupé as seen in Geneva and another 20 as a Roadster, with a base price of €1,750,000 before taxes (the Roadster will be slightly more expensive) the new Centenario became an instant collector’s item all units were already sold before we even saw the car in Geneva leave it to Lamborghini to sell a €2 million car from a sketch and a holographic scale model without even showing a real car.

The styling of the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 might be totally new compared to the Aventador she is based upon, but if you look closely you will notice several design queues we’ve seen on other Raging Bulls in the past up front we find a wide air intake that clearly reminds us of the legendary Lamborghini Miura from the Sixties while the headlights took inspiration from the Lamborghini Urus

The front hood of the Centenario shows two large air vents that we’ve also seen on the Lamborghini Veneno, while the special shape of the front wheel arch looks a lot like the rear wheel arch of the Lamborghini Countach, the doors and rear view mirrors look like they’ve been borrowed from the Lamborghini Aventador, same with the air vent just in front of the rear wheels, on the other hand the wide and thin LED taillights look similar to the ones used on the Veneno and the Asterion concept.

If you look at the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 from the side you will notice the roof line is similar to that of the Aventador, but both the front and the rear has been completely redesigned, the front overhang looks a lot longer than the Aventador while the rear diffuser is on a totally different level altogether, the rear of the Centenario is very open while from the rear the tires are clearly visible, in fact the rear wheel arch doesn’t angle down at the rear it continues horizontally to the end, while a large diffuser with massive vertical fins dominates the rear, complete with a trio of exhaust pipes mounted in the middle.

Note that the Centenario comes with an adjustable rear wing, completely integrated into the body as to not disturb the design forming a single line from the front to the rear but when needed the wing will raise 15cm and even angle at 15° to increase downforce no, this rear wing will not form an air brake under hard deceleration.

The engine cover on the Centenario is fixed with quick release fasteners, just like race cars, so it isn’t easy to reveal the V12 engine underneath this carbon fiber and glass unit, the vents and design form an integral part of the aerodynamic design of the Centenario by the way, the V12 lurking under this cover now pumps out 770hp at 8,600rpm, making this the most powerful engine ever built in Sant’Agata acceleration figures of 2.8s to reach 100 km/h from a standstill and 0 to 300 km/h in only 23.5 seconds are a testament of the work put into creating this masterpiece.

Overall weight is only 1,520 kg resulting in a power to weight ratio of 1.97 kg/hp, add to this the brand rear steering that has been installed on the Centenario and you just know this car will be great to drive, the Lamborghini magneto rheological suspension is present together with the Dynamic Steering (modified for the Centenario) and the ISR gearbox makes sure you’ll experience some amazing driving behind the steering wheel of this limited edition car that feels at home on the open road and on the race track.

Naturally the Lamborghini Centenario received a bespoke set of wheels, large 20-inch up front and even larger 21-inch at the rear, Pirelli P Zero tires have been specifically developed for the rear wheel steering setup on this V12 while the five spoke design is made from forged aluminum that includes special ducts that receive carbon fiber fins to draw hot air away from the carbon ceramic disk brakes a hyper car like this comes with a central locking screw obviously.

Being a flagship V12 model, the Centenario offers doors that open upward to unveil a state of the art interior, the dashboard cluster is again a large LCD screen with bespoke Centenario graphics, but the biggest surprise is seen on the central console here a large 10.1 inch touchscreen offers the perfect interaction between driver and car you can even browse the internet on this screen.

The start/stop button is hiding underneath a red cover just as we’ve became accustomed to on the Avendor and Huracan but the central console also houses a button to activate that impressive rear wing manually so you can demonstrate the function without braking the speed limit.

The seats look like the carbon fiber sport seats from the Aventador Superveloce, but inside the Centenario these feature a very special stitching pattern that is also used on the floor mats in fact, contrasting stitching is only one of many options available to boost the base price further, the entire interior of the Centenario shows an abundance of carbon fiber and alcantara the door panels are also a mix of these special materials, and in true race style there are just straps to pull the door down when open.

The Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 seems to be the perfect car to celebrate the founder of the company, Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted to build an uncompromising GT car back in the Sixties but he became really famous by building icons in automotive art like the Miura the Countach was unlike anything else on the road back in the days now the Centenario continues that legacy a legacy of custom built, limited edition cars that started with the Reventón back in 2007 (20 built) and continued with the Sesto Elemento in 2010 (15 would be built in the end) and the Aventador J in 2012 (only 1 built) while the impressive Veneno from 2013 (3 sold) was the ultimate special edition.

While the Reventón Roadster had a canvas roof to protect the driver in case of rain, the Aventador J and Veneno Roadster came without any kind of protection most likely the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 Roadster will follow the tradition set by the latter two models there could be no roof, making the Centenario Roadster a true ‘open top’ hyper car.

Has someone made a mistake by publishing these two weeks ahead of time … or is this a hoax to make us look the other way while Lamborghini keeps the actual design of this highly limited hyper car a total secret until March 1 when they unveil the real car during the press conference in Geneva?

Whichever is the case, the renders are now all over the internet and they do show a very intricate design with lots of influences from earlier Bulls like the Veneno and the Egoista … it also shows the use of clear carbon fiber that is visible on many parts of the exterior.

The wheels are featuring carbon fiber fins like we’ve seen on the Reventón, a limited edition model based on the Murciélago back in 2007 that was also limited to 20 units … just like this new 2016 Centenario could be in Coupé form, rumor has it there will also be 20 Roadster versions built … but back to the wheels, on these renders it looks like a center locking screw is used, similar to the wheels on the Veneno and the Dianthus wheels on the Aventador Superveloce.

When looking at the front of these renders it is obvious those air vents have been inspired by the Veneno, but the headlights show a totally different, horizontal Y-shape while the front bumper shows a thin, wide intake with clear carbon fiber fins, on the side of this bumper the lower fins turn upward and form a vertical stabilizer … dry carbon fiber naturally.

A similar vertical fin is seen on the side sill just ahead of the rear wheel, where an air outlet is fitted, a reminiscent detail from the Aventador … however note the vent ahead of the front wheel, carved into the bumper and showing a stunning carbon fiber pattern while also holding the side light … a very nice design that shows a curve similar to the one seen on the rear wheel arch of the Countach.

The front fender on the Centenario has a slope sliding into the side sill, after which it sweeps back up in a nice curve behind the door … naturally a large air intake is present with carbon fiber fins in a horizontal pattern, the line of this intake goes all the way up into the roof where a triangular air intake is fitted in the center tunneling air into the engine compartment.

From the looks of it there are a few glass panels on the carbon fiber engine cover, showing the majestic V12 engine underneath before heading onto a very impressive rear diffuser … completely made from visible carbon fiber, this diffuser is already visible from the side, just behind the rear wheels … it is obvious the Lamborghini Centenario is showing a lot of carbon fiber.

If these designs really show the new Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will be answered in early March …

At the 2016 Geneva Auto Show we should finally be able to admire the brand new, highly limited production Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 … no details are known at this moment, in fact the design of this very special car isn’t even finished yet as Automobili Lamborghini SpA is still listening to the people that have put down a deposit on this car after only seeing a virtual presentation in the United States.

Most likely we are talking about a V12 engine inside modified Aventador bodywork … probably one step above the current Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce but not as aggressive as the Veneno LP750-4, the LP770-4 designation also means we are not talking about a hybrid model here, but some pure Raging Bull.

Pricing and details will be published by March 2016 when this special Ferruccio Lamborghini car is shown to the public, but that doesn’t keep us from admiring two amazing renders, one very aggressive one created by Angelo Swinnen and a second, more rounded evolution of the Aventador by Birmelini.

We all know the story behind the founding of Automobili Lamborghini SpA in 1963, the late Ferruccio Lamborghini owned a Ferrari that he had nothing but trouble with, so he confronted Enzo Ferrari with it, who allegedly kicked Ferruccio out of his office, the latter being the proud man he was would show Enzo how a proper GT should be built … so Ferruccio built a factory in Sant’Agata and started building cars that would soon rival Ferrari on his own terrain.

That is the legend behind Automobili Lamborghini SpA … be it fact or fiction … it does sound like something Enzo might have done anyway, and in the end we would be seeing some of the most impressive, innovative and beautiful cars ever made.

Ferruccio Elio Arturo Lamborghini was born on April 28.1916 and sadly passed away on February 20. 1993 in Perugia, Italy … only two months before his 77th birthday … but that also means he would be celebrating his 100th birthday in 2016 … and that is exactly why Lamborghini is bringing us a new car next year.

This is not the hybrid hyper car rumored before but a new, limited edition super car that could be called the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4, a name that has been registered not too long ago and that would perfectly suit a special model to celebrate Ferruccio’s birthday next year.

As usual there are no official statements or any kind of information to be found yet, in fact when Lamborghini disclosed they were building a special commemorative model like this to a select group of VIP that had been invited to a press conference during the 2015 Pebble Beach event in the United States … they didn’t even show an actual car … rumor has it only an on screen presentation or a holographic model was shown … still the production run of 20 units sold out on the spot, if the 10 Roadster versions are ever to be built isn’t even sure.

The very few people that actually saw this presentation in the United States are all keeping their lips sealed, so nobody even disclosed what the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 looks like, that is why a lot of speculation has been going on … still TopSpeed managed to get a render together on how she might look.

From the render we see a close resemblance to the LPI910-4 Asterion, the Lamborghini hybrid concept unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but still with Huracán inspired headlights and the Aventador roofline … at the moment it isn’t even sure if the Centenario LP770-4 is a V12 or a V10 model.

Some sources talk about the Centenario as being a model like the Reventon was to the Murciélago LP640 … a limited edition, high price custom model based on the current V12 flagship … that would mean an Aventador chassis today … but didn’t we already have two special models on the Aventador series, the Aventador J and the Veneno LP750-4, so would a third version make sense?

Yes it would, keep in mind when Ferruccio Lamborghini started building cars he felt the V12 was the only engine that would be suited for the cars with his crest on the hood, so why create a model to celebrate his 100th birthday with a lesser engine? That would almost be sacrilege if you ask me, so the 2016 Centenario LP770-4 just has to have a V12 engine … period.

That leaves the current Aventador V12 engine as the only option, and with the brand new Superveloce been released this year using the uprated 750hp version of that specific model would be the most sensible choice too … tweak her a little further and you’ll end up with a power output of 770hp … hence the LP770 designation … engine issue solved, who needs a hybrid setup anyway with an N/A engine performing like this?

But now comes the tricky part … styling … we all know the Aventador looks good, even after being in production for four years, the LP720-4 50th Anniversary edition is a beauty too and the new LP750-4 Superveloce continues this path nicely with her more aggressive looks … while the one-off Aventador J is a roofless concept built for one lucky customer and the Veneno looks more like a LeMans race car that is street legal … but is this what Ferruccio would be building if he would still be running to company ? Chances are … yes and no.

Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted to build GT cars when he founded the car making company in 1963, comfortable Gran Turismo models with lots of power and a high top speed all while offering a luxurious interior with the best leather possible … cars like the 350GT, Islero, Jarama and Espada … a type of car that hasn’t been built in Sant’Agata since the final Espada left the gates in the late Seventies.

Sure he also had the stunning Miura produced while he was still running Automobili Lamborghini SpA, but that was because he saw the potential that car had to make the company name known, in the end this wasn’t the type of car he wanted to build and by the time the Countach was ready to be delivered to customers he had already sold a controlling 51% to Rossetti in 1972 … and the remaining 49% to Leimer in 1973.

So would it be a good idea to create a style in-between the Aventador Superveloce and the Veneno as a celebration model for Ferruccio Lamborghini … knowing that he really wanted to build GT cars and not these low, rather uncomfortable exotics … I guess not, but with the current lineup what choice does Lamborghini have?

Other sources mention the Centenario LP770-4 could be using a modified Huracán chassis while retaining the V12 engine from the Aventador, and being priced at $1,400,000 each with a production run of 20 units … with 10 Roadster versions being possible too at a slightly higher price.

An educated guess would be the fact that the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will offer some serious performance figures like an acceleration from 0 to 100Km/h in less than 3 seconds and a top speed beyond the 300 km/h mark … and that the interior will be more luxuriously oriented when compared to the race inspired Superveloce inside with all of that amazing, clear carbon being visible.

What we do know if the fact the new Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show in March 2016, a few weeks before Ferruccio’s 100th birthday.

But what if Automobili Lamborghini SpA is taking a totally different route for this celebration model? Think about this: why not have the special Research and Development department with their prototype building facility create a truly special model like they did with the Sesto Elemento. That building has been specifically destined for manufacturing concepts, prototypes … and low production models that would be difficult to build on the actual production lines at the factory.

That would be the perfect opportunity to build 20 units of the Centenario LP770-4, on a known chassis, with the famous V12 engine … but boasting a totally different bodywork … and while we are fantasizing along this route wouldn’t it be a great idea to pull the 2008 Estoque concept back from under the dust and create a top of the line Lamborghini GT to celebrate Ferruccio, such a car would really be perfect for his 100th birthday.

I’m sure it could be possible to get the Aventador V12 engine to fit into a modified chassis with the engine at the front, a four wheel drive system, some amazing looking 21inch wheels all around on a two door concept inspired by the Estoque but updated with Aventador, Huracan and Asterion looks with a 2+2 seat arrangement finished in the softest Italian leather combined with the new Forged Composite and all the luxury amenities a GT offers today … now that would really be a Ferruccio Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4.

Look at how the Gran Turismo style was found on the LPI910-4 Asterion with that luxurious, bright interior seating two people … and still had the V10 engine in the back … that style with the 770 hp V12 in the back would be even more in line with the ideas Ferruccio had back in the Sixties than a more aggressive looking Aventador.
