May 10 would be the last day the Lamborghini convoy would drive around in Italy, from Rome to Bologna, a 388 km (241 miles) trip that would see the Raging Bulls travel through Umbria and Tuscany with lunch being served in a private residence in San Giustino Valdarno, Arezzo, the IL BORRO winery to be exact.

During the day it did rain a bit, but that couldn’t put a halt to the amazing experience these drivers had been accumulating during the last few days … driving stupendously beautiful cars through breathtaking scenery over some of the most stunning roads into villages looking like they only exist in fairytales, life just doesn’t come any better than this.

After lunch the pack of Lamborghini headed to Bologna to find a parking spot on either the Piazza Maggiore or the Piazza Galvani as over 350 of these Sant’Agata beauties tend to take up a lot of space … the sight of all these cars between building that are many centuries old does get a bit abstract, especially when you can admire cars like the early 350GT and 400GT 2+2 from the early Sixties being parked next to 21st century Aventador and Gallardo models.

And the surprises never ceased to amaze … back in Milan you could admire one of a kind cars like the Miura Iota (or Jota) and the nearly forgotten ItalDesign Cala while during the Grande Giro the bright orange Jarama ‘Bob’ turned up at lunch on the 4th Wing Amedeo d’Aosta Air Force base in Grosseto only to blown away completely in Bologna by the sight of the one of only two original, factory built Lamborghini 350GTS finished in stunning gold metallic paint.

This evening the beauty of the Lamborghini in Bologna is further emphasized by the warm glow of the street lights as owners and enthusiasts take a well-deserved rest during yet another perfectly appointed dinner … on Saturday the cars will be judged during a Concorso d’Eleganza after which the entire herd will be heading to the factory grounds in Sant’Agata to conclude the Grande Giro with a visit to the museum and production line … and the Grand Gala dinner in the evening with some very interesting announcements.
