We already saw a nice teaser yesterday, but today we are able to bring you the first photos of this amazing looking Lamborghini Urus, the latest concept model from Automobili Lamborghini SpA that will be unveiled next Monday, April 23 in Beijing.
Apparently someone spilled the beans beforehand … a series of photos showing every angle on the outside and inside of the Lamborghini Urus has been published, we found these on the omniauto.it website and naturally wanted to share them with you.
Looking at these photos it is very obvious the Estoque concept from 2008 contributed a lot to the overall looks of this massive SUV, just take a look at that wide rear wheel arch and the entire rear section, it just screams Estoque.
Dressed in a stunning somewhat darker shade of red, it almost looks like a Candy Apple shade found years ago on some hot rod in the United States, add those large black air intakes and angular lines into the equation, clear carbon fiber lower sections on the bodywork and mammoth size 24 inch wheels and you know just by looking at the Urus this one means business, both on and off road.
Exterior rear view mirrors are not used on this concept; they have been replaced with rear view cameras, an innovative touch that probably won’t make it into series production once it gets build in a few years.
The Lamborghini Urus might be considered to be a successor to the LM002 from the Eighties, but this is a totally different type of vehicle, the LM002 was a pure bred off road car initially developed for military use, the Urus on the other hand has been conceived with one purpose in mind: a high end, ultra luxurious and stupendously fast super car dressed in an Italian design SUV suit.
Open the doors, and yes you’ve seen it right, there are four of them, and you are welcomed by some stunning upholstery combining light shade material, raw looking carbon fiber and sections in the brand new Carbon Skin first seen in the Aventador Jota in Geneva.
The look and feel inside the Lamborghini Urus definitely reminds us of the Sesto Elemento, the same style of visible carbon fiber is used, the seats are four carbon frames with padded sections on them, they look amazing, how comfortable these are remains to be seen, but I’m sure any possible owner won’t mind too much.
Naturally the Lamborghini Urus will not use regular dials but lcd displays like all recent models, and as we have already seen in the Estoque, the rear passengers in the Urus will have several controls for their comfort. It all looks very impressive and futuristic at this moment, but when we consider the Urus will most likely not be available on the market before 2016 these looks might very well make it into production by then.
Keeping in mind this brand new Lamborghini Urus will have to compete with cars like the Porsche Cayenne, the Maserati Kubang and by the time it hits the showroom the Bentley SUV concept will probably also be available, you must admit the Urus will have to differentiate itself from them.
And from what we’ve been able to read I don’t think this will be a problem, for one the sheer size of the Urus impresses on its own, being longer, wider and lower than the Cayenne the Lamborghini SUV will stand proud in any parking lot.
A lot has been going on about the engine in this Lamborghini Urus, rumors talk about a Gallardo derived V10 engine with a 600 bhp power output, but I guess a V12 would really make this Raging Bull stand out between the competition, but no official statement on this has been released, so it remains to be seen how many cylinders will propel the Urus into the countryside.
