Keep in mind on April 28 2016 the late Ferruccio Lamborghini would be celebrating his 100th anniversary … rumor has it Automobili Lamborghini SpA is planning a very special version of the Aventador to commemorate this important milestone.

As usual the official word from Sant’Agata is denying any and all information about this, but high profile Lamborghini owners have received a special invitation to see a new ‘hypercar’ from Lamborghini at Pebble Beach mid-August.

Without official information all this is pure speculation, but various sources are talking about a new limited edition V12 model based on the Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce (1,100 built, 600 Coupé and 500 Roadster) … with a power increase to at least 800hp and production numbers like 20 Coupé and 10 Roadster … however these figures could be stretched to 60 units in total if demand is high enough.

It sounds like Lamborghini is creating a Reventon successor, this time based on the Aventador instead of the Murciélago … back in 2007 they revealed this super Murciélago at the IAA show in Frankfurt, only 20 would be built, each at a hefty €1,000,000. Two years later, at the 2009 IAA Show the Lamborghini Reventon Roadster was shown, at €1,100,000 this open top version would be built only 15 times.

While the Veneno (3 customer cars) and Veneno Roadster (9 customer cars) are already very limited production models based on the Aventador, this new hypercar would be priced considerably lower than the €3,000,000 Veneno MSRP … rumor is the soon to be unveiled V12 special would be available for an estimated $1,500,000 (€1,400,000) … which would be in line with the Reventon pricing back in 2007 and 2009.

At Pebble Beach this new Lamborghini hypercar will be hidden from the public, if a real 1:1 functional car will be shown isn’t sure either, chances are the VIP that are able to attend will have to decide to put a deposit down after seeing a scale model only … so will the general public be able to admire this new car at the IAA Auto Show in Frankfurt in September, or will we have to wait for the 2016 Geneva Auto Show in March?

Only time will tell …
