Automobili Lamborghini SpA has been setting records for several years, and the 2016 fiscal year is another important milestone in the history of the Sant’Agata company … no less than 3,457 Bulls left the factory gates in 2016 on their way to the lucky owners … up from 3,245 cars in 2016, this is the first time the 3,400 cap has been breached.

This means the worldwide network of 135 official dealers in 50 countries have sold 7% more compared to last year … in fact, when compared to 2010 this means sales have grown 2.6 times from 1,302 units in 2010 to 3,457 in 2016, of which 1,041 cars were sold in the United States of America, the largest market for Automobili Lamborghini SpA. Japan is the second largest market with Germany, Canada, the Middle East and China as runner-up.

Another milestone in the production of the V10 Lamborghini has been reached in 2016, a total of 2,353 Huracan have been delivered, both in Coupé and Spyder version and in 4WD and 2WD configuration, while the 6,000th Lamborghini Aventador has been completed on the assembly line in December, a total of 1,104 V12 were shipped in 2016.

Lamborghini continues to release new and updated models, 2016 was no different with the very limited edition Centenario and Centenario Roadster, but also the special Huracan Avio (limited to 250 units) and the Aventador Miura Homage (limited to 50 cars) and the addition of the Huracan RWD Spyder to the V10 line-up.

An important evolution has recently been introduced as the new Lamborghini Aventador S, more than just an external restyle, the Aventador S can almost be called a completely new car with increased power and a new, more aggressive style now offering four-wheel steering for the first time on a production Bull.

And Lamborghini is preparing even more evolutions of the current line-up together with the introduction of the Urus SUV for 2018 … the expansion of the factory should be ready in 2017 and production of the third model at Sant’Agata will start soon …

On September 16. 2016 Lamborghini celebrated a few milestones in their history during the Lamborghini Day in Tokyo. The very special, limited edition Lamborghini Centenario was shown for the first time in Asia, a car to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ferruccio Lamborghini who founded the car company back in 1963.

A second anniversary was the 50 years of the Miura, a lot of these iconic Bulls gathered at the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery in Tokyo, Japan … in fact a total of 36 Lamborghini gathered for the Lamborghini Day Tokyo Concours d’Elegance exhibition … later a convoy of over 65 cars would parade trough the heart of Tokyo.

The first half of 2016 has been a very successful year for Automobili Lamborghini, sales have never been higher with the help of the new V10 Huracán models and Japan is still in the top three markets worldwide for Lamborghini … and it might still grow further once the Urus is available.

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-15372 size-full" src="https://www.
At the Concours d’Elegance a number of classic Lamborghini took part of the competition, several Miura, Countach and Diablo were present to try and capture one of the awards available … there were three awards divided into classes for either Miura, Countach or Diablo while two other awards were decided upon by the audience and an award for the most authentic classic Raging Bull. The final award was ‘Best car of the Miura 50th Anniversary year’.

If you take a convoy of more than 65 Lamborghini into the streets of Tokyo, through the intersection of Omotesando and Shibuya right in the center of Tokyo … you are sure to draw a lot of attention … with cars like the Huracán Avio, Huracán LP580-2, a bright pink Huracán Spyder and a one of a kind Aventador LP720-4 … who wouldn’t stop in their track and look at these amazing cars passing by?

<img decoding="async" class="wp-image-15374 size-full" src="https://www.
Lamborghini also celebrated the opening of their ‘Excellence in Carbon Fiber’ event at the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery in Tokyo, Lamborghini has been a leader in the industry when it comes to development and use of carbon fiber … from the Countach on the use of carbon fiber in a Lamborghini has only become greater.

Japan actually produces most of the raw material for carbon fiber, so Lamborghini has been working together with Japanese companies since 2008, in fact there is now a co-operation project called ‘CFRP Press Technologies and Processes Automation’ between Automobili Lamborghini and Mitsubishi Rayon Co.Ltd to create more automation in manufacturing carbon fiber on a larger scale production.

The event ended with a Memorandum of Understanding which was signed between Stefano Domenicali, Automobili Lamborghini Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Hitoshi Ochi, the President of Mitsubishi Rayon Co.,Ltd.

Italia à Zandvoort is an event that has been running for many years already, I first visited this event back in 2003 already, a few years were missed but last year the number of Lamborghini that arrived at Italia à Zandvoort 2015 was rather impressive, so on July 3. 2016 I took a four-hour drive to the Circuitpark in Zandvoort, the Netherlands to join the 2016 edition.

The weather forecast didn’t look too bright, with rain and thunderstorms foreseen during the day but it turned out to be the best Sunday we had in a long time, with bright sun and nice blue skies Italia à Zandvoort had all the ingredients to become a massive success and it didn’t disappoint.

I already heard in advance from the Lamborghini Club Nederland that none other than Valentino Balboni would be present, probably the most famous test driver in history, a man that was personally responsible for road testing and fine-tuning just about every Lamborghini model since the legendary Miura.

Today Valentino Balboni is officially retired but Lamborghini stays a large part of his day-to-day life, he had restored the one-of-a-kind Lamborghini 350 GTS by the way today he would be driving another priceless Raging Bull, a bright orange Lamborghini Miura that has been perfectly restored by Rene Fransman at a considerable cost rumor has it this Miura is now valued between €1,200,000 and €1,500,000, making it the most expensive Lamborghini in Zandvoort on Sunday.

But let’s not forget all the other Lamborghini that showed up to make Italia à Zandvoort another unforgettable event this year. Let’s go from the most classic to the most recent Bulls probably the oldest Lamborghini at Zandvoort this year was the silver metallic 350 GT, a rather famous car is she once belonged to actor Nicolas Cage safe to say this early Lamborghini took second place behind the Miura value wise.

Two more classic, front-engine V12 Lamborghini could be admired, another silver metallic one, this time a Jarama S, and a light tan finished Espada Series II with Series I knock-off wheels that were originally sold in the United States as the side lights were still present.

Sadly there was no Lamborghini Countach on display in Zandvoort this time, but another major icon from the Eighties did manage to draw a lot of attention the massive, red Lamborghini LM002 completely dwarfed all the other Bulls on the paddock, almost 30 years old, this monstrous V12 powered SUV still puts every other SUV to shame and the owner even took her onto the track.

Two Lamborghini Diablo arrived, both finished in yellow over a black interior, keep in mind in the Nineties the Giallo Superfly was a very popular shade on the Diablo together with Rosso, both cars were post-1993 models with the lower dashboard pod from the Diablo VT.

Keeping in line with the V12 flagship models from Sant’Agata we’ll continue with a trio of Lamborghini Murciélago at Zandvoort, a very nice, bright orange metallic 6.2 model with a beautiful two-tone orange and a black interior featuring the optional Q-Citura stitching pattern a very nice V12 that was accompanied by a dark grey metallic 6.2, this latter had some carbon fiber details added on the outside making her look rather special.

The third one was finished in a shade I hadn’t seen before, this Murciélago LP640 boasted an Oro Adonis exterior over a dark brown (probably Maronne Elpis) leather upholstery with the beautiful Q-Citura stitching pattern this combination looked amazing by the way, and this car concludes the V12 armada at Zandvoort this year.

Naturally, a lot of V10 Lamborghini came to Zandvoort this time, the early series Gallardo has become an interesting option on the second-hand market and several made the drive to the Circuitpark two of them finished in the classic Giallo Midas shade, one on the original silver wheels while the second one went with black painted wheels.

A third Lamborghini Gallardo received a matte grey vinyl wrap from 3M, adding a few touches of bright red almost turned this V10 into an Edizione Tecnica edition but probably one of the most impressive early Gallardo at Zandvoort had to be the black rally version this V10 has been converted into a real-life rally car and actually competes in the Netherlands.

A pair of Gallardo Spyder made their appearance too, one finished in a pristine-looking white paint job while the second one was finished in the exact same, baby blue shade as the official press car used to introduce the Gallardo Spyder back in 2005.

And last, but not least we encountered a rather mysterious-looking Gallardo finished in a sinister-looking black over black wheels with orange brake calipers this V10 looked like one of those ‘Nuova Gallardo LP560-4’ as introduced in Paris back in 2012 with those triangular vents in the front and rear bumper but in fact this was a modified Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, complete with Akrapovic exhaust and a power boost over 600hp according to the owner.

So a lot of Lamborghini was present at Italia à Zandvoort this year, and not only as a static show, most of them were taken onto the famous track in the dunes for an impressive parade of Italian Bulls.

If you have been reading my event reviews you surely have noticed I’ve been visiting Viva Italia for many years now, in fact I went to the famous TT Circuit in Assen for the first time back in 2000, the 2016 edition was the 15th time I attended this event (2004 and 2010 didn’t happen), and despite the weird weather conditions I wasn’t disappointed … there were a total of 44 different Lamborghini present this year.

Naturally the Lamborghini Club Nederland had their own area on the paddock at Assen, packed with some of the most amazing Raging Bull built in Sant’Agata over the last 53 years, this time the famous black 400 GT 2+2 wasn’t present (the owner recently sold her in fact) so the oldest Bull on the paddock in 2016 was a silver metallic Jarama, an S model actually, and she sure stood out from the pack of exotic V10 and V12 models around her.

From the Nineties you could admire a number of Lamborghini Diablo at the Dutch club stand, a pair of early yellow ones were parked side by side, they were joined by a late model Diablo VT 6.0 in the same shade and one of only 20 Diablo 6.0 SE, this one finished in an amazing looking Oro Elios shade … keep in mind the Diablo will be the next model rise in value as seen by the Diablo SE30 Jota that sold recently.

Lamborghini stepping into the next millennium meant the release of the Murciélago, the long awaited successor to the Diablo is quickly becoming a valued model these days, the early ones are still reasonably priced, but the later LP640 and LP670-4 Super Veloce are getting expensive now … from the original Murciélago 6.2 production there were two units in Assen, a dark grey one and a bright orange one … a later LP640 model was represented in a stunning Nero Nemesis, matte black finish.

This brings us to the Lamborghini Gallardo series, with a production of 14,022 units over a period of 10 years it is only logical a lot of these V10 are around, and they also show up at events like Viva Italia … in all kinds of shades, and in different versions.

In 2003 the Gallardo 5.0 was introduced, and this V10 became a success … many of these early ones were sold in yellow, and it shows … from the four early Gallardo at Viva Italia three were finished in Giallo, with the fourth one being a white version, one of the yellow Gallardo was rolling on some amazing looking Vossen wheels by the way.

A limited edition Gallardo SE was unveiled in 2005, only 250 of these Special Edition would be built and they were available in a limited number of shades, pearl white metallic like the one at Viva Italia with a glossy black roof was one of those shades … that same year the Gallardo Spyder was introduced at the IAA in Frankfurt, the convertible version of the V10 Bull, needless to say orders poured in.

There were three Gallardo Spyder at this event, once again a yellow one, but also a stunning Verde Ithaca one on black wheels while the third one had me puzzled at first … it looked like Verde Ithaca but something was wrong about the shade … turned out this was in fact a black Gallardo Spyder under a green wrap, the hue of Verde was just not right.

In 2007 Lamborghini released a special lightweight version of the Gallardo, called the Superleggera, today probably one of the more sought after versions, especially the showroom fresh white one at Viva Italia … white was a very rare shade on the original Superleggera, a second original Superleggera was finished in Arancio Borealis while the successor, the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera was represented in Assen in a yellow finish.

The evolution of the Gallardo became known as the LP560-4 model, and naturally two of those came to Assen too, this time in another popular shade … Bianco. One was the closed Coupé form while the second LP560-4 was a stunning Spyder with a two-tone black and white leather interior.

Now there was one more Gallardo V10 at Viva Italia this year … but you might not recognize her at first glance … in fact this Bull was hiding underneath a Batman inspired body that was entered into the 2016 edition of the famous Gumball 3000 by Team Galag, rolling on massive 26-inch Pirelli Scorpion tires … it was one of several Gumball 3000 cars that came to Assen actually.

This brings us to the current production models from Sant’Agata, the Aventador and Huracán series … 19 of these recent cars showed up in Assen. Three of the Aventador LP700-4 units could be admired, one finished in stunning Nero Nemesis and rolling on some amazing HRE wheels while a glossy black one came with a Novitec rear wing and Batman sign on the door. The third one was finished in a stylish Grigio Estoque on black wheels with yellow brake calipers … in fact it almost looked like a His and Hers kind of thing as it was parked next to an Aventador LP700-4 Roadster in exactly the same combination … very nice indeed.

A second Aventador LP700-4 Roadster was finished in glossy black over a set of dark titanium Dione wheels, another beautiful combination … but for me the Grigio Titans finished Pirelli Edition Roadster was simply stunning, the matte body combined with glossy black parts and those red details just make this V12 stand out perfectly … and she wasn’t even the only Pirelli Edition in Assen, a bright red Coupé was also present … and this one came with an amazing clear carbon fiber DMC rear wing.

The icing on the cake for me was the number of Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce at Viva Italia 2016, no less than 6 of these limited edition cars came to Assen and with only 600 being built this was an impressive number. They came from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands … one of them competed in the Gumball 3000 just days ago and still had all the dirt and dust on her … on the complete body wrap that was hiding a Rosso Bia finish.

There was a green finished Superveloce with racing stripes and a custom, large yellow SV script on the side, another one came in Verde Ithaca with the small SV on the side while a third one looked like the Geneva show car in Nouva Giallo Orion, the white one in Assen boasted a large black SV on the side and was ordered with red brake calipers and red center locking screws … a very nice combination … while the sixth Superveloce was a custom order blue with black roof.

From these six Aventador Superveloce half of them had the optional comfort seats while the others came with the very special, carbon fiber sport seats … still all of them had the optional Dianthus central locking wheels … the Superveloce could be ordered with regular, five bolt Dione wheels, but I think most of them will have the Dianthus wheels installed in the end.

Which brings us the last Lamborghini model present at Viva Italia, the Huracán … six of these modern V10 could be admired in Assen, five of the LP610-4 models were shown, a Verde Mantis one was hiding in a pit box from the rain but it did take a stint on the track, while a black car was used by Vredestein to showcase their tires, an amazing looking orange Huracán boasted a carbon fiber rear wing … but also the fin underneath the taillights, the lower diffuser and the air intakes behind the side windows were done in carbon fiber on this car … very nice indeed.

Seeing a Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 finished in Giallo Horus in real life is actually very interesting, the matte yellow finish is magnificent on this car, a rather rare shade, but beautiful … another owner decided he didn’t like the black finish of his Huracán anymore and decided to have a really impressive looking brushed aluminum look vinyl installed … he called his car the LP610-4 Steel Edition.

Finally one of the first Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Spyder in the Netherlands showed up, finished in a classic looking dark grey metallic over a brown interior, this V10 Spyder looked great, too bad the weather didn’t permit opening the roof as I’m sure that would have drawn a lot more attention to her.

So despite the rain, the wind and the cold … the sun did come out from time to time in Assen, so it was another great event with a lot of exotic supercars on display and some interesting action on the track … Viva Italia 2016 drew a lot of visitors and I can’t wait to do it all over again next year.

Naturally we’ve already published an in depth article on the brand new Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 that was unveiled at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show in early March, we even put together a large gallery on the Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Avio, a limited edition of the succesful V10 Bull that will be built only 250 times … but there we so many other, interesting cars shown during the show … both on the stands and in special, VIP areas only open on invitation … we take a look at them all.

Right next to the stunning Centenario Lamborghini showed a bright red Huracán LP580-2 on silver wheels and a white Huracán LP610-4 Spyder with an amazing looking blue leather interior with red stitching and special, Forged Composite used throughout the interior … very nice and exclusive looking.

So the Automobili Lamborghini SpA stand showed a total of 4 cars to the public … but upstairs is the VIP lounge, open on invitation only and usually for owners or future customers that are about to sign their order … and if you are thinking about getting some of those amazing Ad Personam touches added to your Lamborghini there is an Ad Personam Studio right next to the VIP lounge where the most beautiful cars are prestented.

For 2016 the VIP lounge showcased a truly magnificent Aventador LP700-4 Roadster, finished in a very dark red, pearl metallic shade called Nero Granatus over a highly custom ordered interior, complete with Ad Personam crest on the doors, color coded clear carbon fiber and a beautiful Elegante pattern on the seats, rarely seen in the Aventador. Just about all the exterior air intakes had red carbon fiber surrounds and just to complete the look the engine bay, visible through the glass engine cover, was also fitted with red clear carbon fiber parts.

Inside the Ad Personam Studio at the Geneva Motor Show we found a matte white Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4 Spyder with a luxurious looking, brown leather upholstery showing an awesome hexagon pattern and ‘Huracán’ script on the seats … again the central console, doors and vents got covered in Forged Composite here … a very nice touch.

With six Raging Bulls in total on display at Lamborghini it would be difficult for the other stands to draw attention to them … but DMC managed to do just that, being at Geneva for the second time in a row, DMC unveiled the new Huracán Jeddah edition in Geneva, finished in an intimidating black that massive, Countach inspired rear wing looked better than ever.

Nimrod was present in Geneva too, remember the Avanti Rosso? Based on the Lamborghini Aventador, the Avanti Rosso by Nimrod was a very special looking car altogether with some serious intakes and massive wing added … this time the car is called the Avanti Toro and comes with a new front bumper design and some other modifications … according to the owner he already sold 3 Avanti Rosso/Toro.

Let’s say you love the Lamborghini Veneno, but buying one is just a little too expensive (there is one listed for sale at €10,000,000), so the next best thing would be to get an Aventador and install those special, center lock wheels … which are available as an option from Lamborghini, called the Razze 7 wheels. But there is one downside … these Razze 7 don’t come with the carbon fiber ring as seen on the Veneno. But fear not, Mansory has just released a brand new wheel for the Lamborghini Aventador that looks very close to the original Razze 7 wheel … and Mansory does deliver the ring with them.

All in all the 87th edition of the Geneva International Motor Show was once again an amazing experience, showing some of the most exclusive cars in the world … most of them we will probably never see on the open road anyway.

Rumor about a special Lamborghini model to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the late Ferruccio Lamborghini (1916 – 1993) surfaced back in July 2015 already, a very select group of VIP customers were invited to Pebble Beach for an exclusive preview of a new hyper car from Sant’Agata nothing about styling was known at that point and a price of €1,500,000 was mentioned, we all hoped the car would be unveiled at the 2015 IAA Show in Frankfurt but that didn’t happen.

Fast forward to February 2016 when, after the name ‘Centenario LP770-4’ had been trademarked by Automobili Lamborghini SpA, the first look at the design of this new Raging Bull was found online in the trademarking of 3D renders for the styling of the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 response was mixed, but keeping in mind these were black and white 3D views we still had to wait to see the car in real life before making final judgment.

We all knew the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 just had to be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show during the first press day on March 1, and usually VAG has a big VIP event the evening before where they show the new cars from the VAG Group on February 29 the new Bugatti Chiron was shown and the Lamborghini Huracan Avio, a special edition built only 250 times but no Centenario, not even on the official press site what was going on?

It seems Lamborghini really wanted to keep the Centenario a secret until the actual press conference at 10:05 on stand 1044 and they succeeded, we all had to wait until Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and president of Automobili Lamborghini SpA proudly introduced the very special, limited edition model to celebrate Ferruccio the Centenario LP770-4 would be the last Lamborghini Winkelmann would unveil as he was to leave Lamborghini in March 2016 to join Quattro GmbH as a new challenge.

The moment the black satin cover was removed from the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 by two lovely hostess the crowd surrounding the Lamborghini stand was impressed by the looks of this exclusive new V12 finished in a stunning clear carbon fiber finish with yellow details this car looked like nothing ever to be built in Sant’Agata this was truly a celebration model.

The Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will be built only 40 times 20 as a closed coupé as seen in Geneva and another 20 as a Roadster, with a base price of €1,750,000 before taxes (the Roadster will be slightly more expensive) the new Centenario became an instant collector’s item all units were already sold before we even saw the car in Geneva leave it to Lamborghini to sell a €2 million car from a sketch and a holographic scale model without even showing a real car.

The styling of the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 might be totally new compared to the Aventador she is based upon, but if you look closely you will notice several design queues we’ve seen on other Raging Bulls in the past up front we find a wide air intake that clearly reminds us of the legendary Lamborghini Miura from the Sixties while the headlights took inspiration from the Lamborghini Urus

The front hood of the Centenario shows two large air vents that we’ve also seen on the Lamborghini Veneno, while the special shape of the front wheel arch looks a lot like the rear wheel arch of the Lamborghini Countach, the doors and rear view mirrors look like they’ve been borrowed from the Lamborghini Aventador, same with the air vent just in front of the rear wheels, on the other hand the wide and thin LED taillights look similar to the ones used on the Veneno and the Asterion concept.

If you look at the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 from the side you will notice the roof line is similar to that of the Aventador, but both the front and the rear has been completely redesigned, the front overhang looks a lot longer than the Aventador while the rear diffuser is on a totally different level altogether, the rear of the Centenario is very open while from the rear the tires are clearly visible, in fact the rear wheel arch doesn’t angle down at the rear it continues horizontally to the end, while a large diffuser with massive vertical fins dominates the rear, complete with a trio of exhaust pipes mounted in the middle.

this and many more photos of lamborghinis are available on www. Lambocars. Com

Note that the Centenario comes with an adjustable rear wing, completely integrated into the body as to not disturb the design forming a single line from the front to the rear but when needed the wing will raise 15cm and even angle at 15° to increase downforce no, this rear wing will not form an air brake under hard deceleration.

The engine cover on the Centenario is fixed with quick release fasteners, just like race cars, so it isn’t easy to reveal the V12 engine underneath this carbon fiber and glass unit, the vents and design form an integral part of the aerodynamic design of the Centenario by the way, the V12 lurking under this cover now pumps out 770hp at 8,600rpm, making this the most powerful engine ever built in Sant’Agata acceleration figures of 2.8s to reach 100 km/h from a standstill and 0 to 300 km/h in only 23.5 seconds are a testament of the work put into creating this masterpiece.

Overall weight is only 1,520 kg resulting in a power to weight ratio of 1.97 kg/hp, add to this the brand rear steering that has been installed on the Centenario and you just know this car will be great to drive, the Lamborghini magneto rheological suspension is present together with the Dynamic Steering (modified for the Centenario) and the ISR gearbox makes sure you’ll experience some amazing driving behind the steering wheel of this limited edition car that feels at home on the open road and on the race track.

Naturally the Lamborghini Centenario received a bespoke set of wheels, large 20-inch up front and even larger 21-inch at the rear, Pirelli P Zero tires have been specifically developed for the rear wheel steering setup on this V12 while the five spoke design is made from forged aluminum that includes special ducts that receive carbon fiber fins to draw hot air away from the carbon ceramic disk brakes a hyper car like this comes with a central locking screw obviously.

Being a flagship V12 model, the Centenario offers doors that open upward to unveil a state of the art interior, the dashboard cluster is again a large LCD screen with bespoke Centenario graphics, but the biggest surprise is seen on the central console here a large 10.1 inch touchscreen offers the perfect interaction between driver and car you can even browse the internet on this screen.

The start/stop button is hiding underneath a red cover just as we’ve became accustomed to on the Avendor and Huracan but the central console also houses a button to activate that impressive rear wing manually so you can demonstrate the function without braking the speed limit.

The seats look like the carbon fiber sport seats from the Aventador Superveloce, but inside the Centenario these feature a very special stitching pattern that is also used on the floor mats in fact, contrasting stitching is only one of many options available to boost the base price further, the entire interior of the Centenario shows an abundance of carbon fiber and alcantara the door panels are also a mix of these special materials, and in true race style there are just straps to pull the door down when open.

The Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 seems to be the perfect car to celebrate the founder of the company, Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted to build an uncompromising GT car back in the Sixties but he became really famous by building icons in automotive art like the Miura the Countach was unlike anything else on the road back in the days now the Centenario continues that legacy a legacy of custom built, limited edition cars that started with the Reventón back in 2007 (20 built) and continued with the Sesto Elemento in 2010 (15 would be built in the end) and the Aventador J in 2012 (only 1 built) while the impressive Veneno from 2013 (3 sold) was the ultimate special edition.

While the Reventón Roadster had a canvas roof to protect the driver in case of rain, the Aventador J and Veneno Roadster came without any kind of protection most likely the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 Roadster will follow the tradition set by the latter two models there could be no roof, making the Centenario Roadster a true ‘open top’ hyper car.

Kujala took the chequered flag in pole position after the first race and took second place in the subsequent race that was dominated by Swiss driver Patric Niederhauser for the Raton Racing team from flag to flag. Second place in the PRO Championship was secured by Daniel Zampieri and Loris Spinelli of the Antonelli Motorsport team while Richard Antinucci and Edoardo Piscopo took the third spot for the Beverly Hills/O’Gara Motorsport team in the PRO category.

In the PRO-AM class the World Champion title was obtained by Corey Lewis for Carolina/Change Racing from the USA, second place was taken by Edoardo Liberati and Yuan Bo who were also the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia 2015 PR0-AM champions while Mikko Eskelinen and Kelvin Snoeks from Leipert Motorsport came in third overall in their class.

There is also an AM class in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series, and here the World Final title was taken by Ryan Ockey, the champion in the AM class of the North America series for the Vancouver/O’Gara Motorsport team.

Keep in mind the 2015 Super Trofeo series still had several Lamborghini Gallardo competing next to the new Huracan in a separate class, for the Gallardo class the title went to Jake Rattenbury from the Carolinas/Change Racing team and Brandon Gdovic from Palm Beach/Mitchum Motorsport.

For the fourth year in a row the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series will feature six rounds of two races each and will bring the Raging Bull to 17 of the most famous tracks in the world, either in Europe, Asia or North America … the calendar even includes two street races this time.

The Super Trofeo series has been racing in Europe for seven years already, first with the amazing Lamborghini Gallardo and last year with the brand new Huracan LP620-2 for the first time … the eighth year of the European series will once again continue alongside the Blancpain Endurance Series GT racing in Europe.

With the new Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder recently unveiled at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt you might have forgotten about the very special model to be created to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the late Ferruccio Lamborghini next year.

At the 2016 Geneva Auto Show we should finally be able to admire the brand new, highly limited production Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 … no details are known at this moment, in fact the design of this very special car isn’t even finished yet as Automobili Lamborghini SpA is still listening to the people that have put down a deposit on this car after only seeing a virtual presentation in the United States.

Most likely we are talking about a V12 engine inside modified Aventador bodywork … probably one step above the current Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce but not as aggressive as the Veneno LP750-4, the LP770-4 designation also means we are not talking about a hybrid model here, but some pure Raging Bull.

Pricing and details will be published by March 2016 when this special Ferruccio Lamborghini car is shown to the public, but that doesn’t keep us from admiring two amazing renders, one very aggressive one created by Angelo Swinnen and a second, more rounded evolution of the Aventador by Birmelini.

Back in August 2015 a rumor started about Lamborghini preparing a new Hyper Car to be unveiled, a car one step above the current Aventador … many believed it to be a V12 hybrid car to rival the likes of Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche … some even stated she would be unveiled at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt … but time would tell a different story … a story that began in 1916 in fact.

We all know the story behind the founding of Automobili Lamborghini SpA in 1963, the late Ferruccio Lamborghini owned a Ferrari that he had nothing but trouble with, so he confronted Enzo Ferrari with it, who allegedly kicked Ferruccio out of his office, the latter being the proud man he was would show Enzo how a proper GT should be built … so Ferruccio built a factory in Sant’Agata and started building cars that would soon rival Ferrari on his own terrain.

That is the legend behind Automobili Lamborghini SpA … be it fact or fiction … it does sound like something Enzo might have done anyway, and in the end we would be seeing some of the most impressive, innovative and beautiful cars ever made.

Ferruccio Elio Arturo Lamborghini was born on April 28.1916 and sadly passed away on February 20. 1993 in Perugia, Italy … only two months before his 77th birthday … but that also means he would be celebrating his 100th birthday in 2016 … and that is exactly why Lamborghini is bringing us a new car next year.

This is not the hybrid hyper car rumored before but a new, limited edition super car that could be called the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4, a name that has been registered not too long ago and that would perfectly suit a special model to celebrate Ferruccio’s birthday next year.

As usual there are no official statements or any kind of information to be found yet, in fact when Lamborghini disclosed they were building a special commemorative model like this to a select group of VIP that had been invited to a press conference during the 2015 Pebble Beach event in the United States … they didn’t even show an actual car … rumor has it only an on screen presentation or a holographic model was shown … still the production run of 20 units sold out on the spot, if the 10 Roadster versions are ever to be built isn’t even sure.

The very few people that actually saw this presentation in the United States are all keeping their lips sealed, so nobody even disclosed what the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 looks like, that is why a lot of speculation has been going on … still TopSpeed managed to get a render together on how she might look.

this and many more photos of lamborghinis are available on www. Lambocars. Com

From the render we see a close resemblance to the LPI910-4 Asterion, the Lamborghini hybrid concept unveiled at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but still with Huracán inspired headlights and the Aventador roofline … at the moment it isn’t even sure if the Centenario LP770-4 is a V12 or a V10 model.

Some sources talk about the Centenario as being a model like the Reventon was to the Murciélago LP640 … a limited edition, high price custom model based on the current V12 flagship … that would mean an Aventador chassis today … but didn’t we already have two special models on the Aventador series, the Aventador J and the Veneno LP750-4, so would a third version make sense?

Yes it would, keep in mind when Ferruccio Lamborghini started building cars he felt the V12 was the only engine that would be suited for the cars with his crest on the hood, so why create a model to celebrate his 100th birthday with a lesser engine? That would almost be sacrilege if you ask me, so the 2016 Centenario LP770-4 just has to have a V12 engine … period.

That leaves the current Aventador V12 engine as the only option, and with the brand new Superveloce been released this year using the uprated 750hp version of that specific model would be the most sensible choice too … tweak her a little further and you’ll end up with a power output of 770hp … hence the LP770 designation … engine issue solved, who needs a hybrid setup anyway with an N/A engine performing like this?

But now comes the tricky part … styling … we all know the Aventador looks good, even after being in production for four years, the LP720-4 50th Anniversary edition is a beauty too and the new LP750-4 Superveloce continues this path nicely with her more aggressive looks … while the one-off Aventador J is a roofless concept built for one lucky customer and the Veneno looks more like a LeMans race car that is street legal … but is this what Ferruccio would be building if he would still be running to company ? Chances are … yes and no.

Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted to build GT cars when he founded the car making company in 1963, comfortable Gran Turismo models with lots of power and a high top speed all while offering a luxurious interior with the best leather possible … cars like the 350GT, Islero, Jarama and Espada … a type of car that hasn’t been built in Sant’Agata since the final Espada left the gates in the late Seventies.

Sure he also had the stunning Miura produced while he was still running Automobili Lamborghini SpA, but that was because he saw the potential that car had to make the company name known, in the end this wasn’t the type of car he wanted to build and by the time the Countach was ready to be delivered to customers he had already sold a controlling 51% to Rossetti in 1972 … and the remaining 49% to Leimer in 1973.

So would it be a good idea to create a style in-between the Aventador Superveloce and the Veneno as a celebration model for Ferruccio Lamborghini … knowing that he really wanted to build GT cars and not these low, rather uncomfortable exotics … I guess not, but with the current lineup what choice does Lamborghini have?

Other sources mention the Centenario LP770-4 could be using a modified Huracán chassis while retaining the V12 engine from the Aventador, and being priced at $1,400,000 each with a production run of 20 units … with 10 Roadster versions being possible too at a slightly higher price.

An educated guess would be the fact that the Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will offer some serious performance figures like an acceleration from 0 to 100Km/h in less than 3 seconds and a top speed beyond the 300 km/h mark … and that the interior will be more luxuriously oriented when compared to the race inspired Superveloce inside with all of that amazing, clear carbon being visible.

What we do know if the fact the new Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 will be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show in March 2016, a few weeks before Ferruccio’s 100th birthday.

But what if Automobili Lamborghini SpA is taking a totally different route for this celebration model? Think about this: why not have the special Research and Development department with their prototype building facility create a truly special model like they did with the Sesto Elemento. That building has been specifically destined for manufacturing concepts, prototypes … and low production models that would be difficult to build on the actual production lines at the factory.

That would be the perfect opportunity to build 20 units of the Centenario LP770-4, on a known chassis, with the famous V12 engine … but boasting a totally different bodywork … and while we are fantasizing along this route wouldn’t it be a great idea to pull the 2008 Estoque concept back from under the dust and create a top of the line Lamborghini GT to celebrate Ferruccio, such a car would really be perfect for his 100th birthday.

I’m sure it could be possible to get the Aventador V12 engine to fit into a modified chassis with the engine at the front, a four wheel drive system, some amazing looking 21inch wheels all around on a two door concept inspired by the Estoque but updated with Aventador, Huracan and Asterion looks with a 2+2 seat arrangement finished in the softest Italian leather combined with the new Forged Composite and all the luxury amenities a GT offers today … now that would really be a Ferruccio Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4.

Look at how the Gran Turismo style was found on the LPI910-4 Asterion with that luxurious, bright interior seating two people … and still had the V10 engine in the back … that style with the 770 hp V12 in the back would be even more in line with the ideas Ferruccio had back in the Sixties than a more aggressive looking Aventador.
