The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is a remarkable machine, combining aggressive design with Italian craftsmanship and performance that rivals its fiercest competitors. Introduced in 2010, the Gallardo Superleggera was the lightweight and track-focused version of the standard Gallardo, making it an even more formidable sports car.

Automobili Lamborghini SpA not only reduced weight on this new lightweight model, but they also changed lots of other thing, like the power output from the engine for instance, now up to 570 Bhp and still delivered to all four wheels I’m sure they could have cut even more weight by making it a rear wheel drive model, that that is only available on the limited edition LP550-2 Valentino Balboni, yet another masterpiece on wheels.

Back in 2007 the Gallardo Superleggera managed to shed about 100 kg, but this time the LP570-4 puts about 70 kg less on the scales, but with an overall weight of a mere 1340 kg it is still the lightest street legal Lamborghini available today.

I mention street legal here because naturally the Super Trofeo would trump them all, and as a matter of speaking a lot of knowledge gained from this fastest one-make championship has been transferred into the new LP570-4 Superleggera to make the experience of driving it even more intense.

Design and Aesthetics

On the outside you can’t mistake this Superleggera edition, the entire front has been modified beautifully, the black parts contrast very well with the rest of the bodywork, which in case of the Superleggera is only available in a very select collection of colors: Verde Ithaca, Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus. Add to this the color coded interior stitching over the black alcantara upholstery and you’ve got one really nice car.

Swing around to the rear and you are greeted by a tall rear wing, naturally finished in bright carbon fiber, but also the engine cover with see-through section is finished in this lightweight material further down we see the diffuser in the same material surrounding no less than four massive exhaust pipes just to make this ‘little’ Lamborghini even more menacing.

The sound emitting from these tailpipes is sheer music when you hurl this motorcar to 200 Km/h in only 10.2 seconds and the fun isn’t over until the speedometer shows a proud 325 Km/h top speed, all the time you are sitting in some of the most magnificent alcantara seats ever conceived and you are looking an awesome combination of alcantara and carbon fiber on the dashboard, central console and steering wheel.

All this power is transmitted to the road over a brand new set of five spoke wheels standing a massive 19 inch tall and shod with 235 and 295 at the front and rear respectively. Note that the Superleggera is standing proud on specifically developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber with a close pedigree to racing tires.

Just in case you get cold sweat about stopping all this additional force you can opt for a set of carbon ceramic discs from the options catalog, in which you also find a four-point seat belt system, a fire extinguisher and even a steel roll cage in case something goes wrong along the way. Naturally color coded brake calipers and that stunning, high rear wing are also available from Sant’Agata but in case you just want something really different you’ll have to turn your attention to the “Ad Personam” dictionary, they can make all your dreams come true.

Performance and Handling

The Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera boasts impressive performance figures, thanks to its powerful 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 570 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed E-gear automated manual transmission, which delivers rapid gear changes and helps the car achieve a 0-60 mph time of just 3.4 seconds. The Superleggera’s top speed is an impressive 202 mph.

The LP570-4 Superleggera benefits from an all-wheel-drive system that provides excellent traction and grip, enhancing the car’s handling capabilities, especially when cornering or driving on challenging surfaces. This system ensures that the power is distributed evenly between the front and rear wheels, enabling the car to maintain stability and control even during high-speed maneuvers.

A primary focus of the Superleggera was to reduce weight, which significantly improves the car’s handling characteristics. With a curb weight of around 2,954 lbs, the Superleggera is about 154 lbs lighter than the standard Gallardo. This weight reduction was achieved through the extensive use of carbon fiber and lightweight materials, which also contributes to the car’s agility and responsiveness.

The suspension system in the LP570-4 Superleggera has been fine-tuned for optimal performance, striking a balance between comfort and handling. It features an adjustable anti-roll bar and double-wishbone suspension, which ensures that the car remains planted during high-speed cornering and provides a more composed ride when driving on uneven surfaces.

The braking system on the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera consists of ventilated and cross-drilled carbon-ceramic discs that provide exceptional stopping power and fade resistance. This helps to ensure that the car remains stable and secure during hard braking.

Price

The base MSRP of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera varied depending on the model year. For instance, the 2012 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera had a base MSRP of $237,600, while the 2014 Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera Edizione Tecnica had a base MSRP of $241,200. Keep in mind that these figures are for the base models and do not account for optional features or packages, which could increase the price.

Conclusion

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is an impressive combination of aggressive design, top-tier performance, and Italian craftsmanship. It offers an exhilarating driving experience that few other cars can match, making it a fantastic option for those seeking a high-performance sports car with a unique aesthetic. However, those looking for a more practical or luxurious vehicle may want to consider other options in the Lamborghini lineup.

Back in May 2015 some spy shots were taken of a Lamborghini Huracan with a rather strange exhaust setup, only two pipes instead of the usual four, and positioned higher up at the rear, almost identical the setup seen on the Huracan GT3 race car … so naturally our first impression was that Lamborghini was testing a street legal Huracan race car … and that could only mean the Huracan Superleggera.

Since then it became silent on this subject … until now, when not one but two test mules have been caught during test drives on the famous Nurburgring, the Nordschleife in Germany. Still with the usual black and white camouflage covers on them, but the styling can be recognized very nicely on these images.

Up front it seems inspiration has been taken from the flagship Aventador Superveloce combined with the Huracan GT3, much larger air intakes, and a horizontal fin appears at the front, the sides looks almost standard but I’m sure we’ll be getting a nice side sill added to the production model while the rear is extremely impressive.

We get the two large diameter exhausts up high on the rear diffuser, which now has more profound vertical fins and actually show an open section behind the rear wheels … a hint of Centenario here perhaps. As usual, a Superleggera version comes with a large rear wing, on the spy shots it looks to be fitted at a serious angle, but most likely we’ll be able to adjust this angle just like on the rear wing of the Aventador Superveloce.

No official information has been released yet, but rest assured the power output will go up a little from the regular Huracan LP610-4, with the Aventador we went from 700 to 750hp while on the Gallardo the difference between the LP560-4 and LP570-4 Superleggera was a mere 10hp, in case of the Huracan this could mean we are looking at an LP620-2 Superleggera … keeping in mind the Super Trofeo version is also 620hp and rear wheel drive only.

When will we be seeing this car without the camouflage ? Might be in a few weeks at the 2016 Paris Motor Show … or perhaps much later at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show … who knows? But at least there are test mules going round with the special aerodynamics already installed … the wait is nearly over.

Last week several spy shots of a heavily camouflaged test mule were captured on the Nurburgring Nordschleife in Germany, a car that looks like the Lamborghini Huracan but with a rather aggressive looking aerodynamic kit, inspired by the Aventador Superveloce while retaining a very unique identity, especially when it comes to the position of the exhaust pipes.

Rumor is we are looking at the lightweight, street legal race version of the Lamborghini V10 model, the Huracán Superleggera … more power and less weight for a car that already is very, very fast in standard trim when she has 610 hp and all-wheel drive … but will the Superleggera come with AWD too?

When you look closely at the test mule you will notice the section under the taillights is taken from the Huracán LP580-2 version, and that is a rear-wheel drive only model, so perhaps the Superleggera will come in RWD too … which would really make it a street legal Super Trofeo race car as that one is an LP620-2, hence RWD.

The next question is weight loss, usually a Superleggera or a Superveloce version is lighter compared to the regular production model … about 100 kg is lost by using a lot more carbon fiber than normal. So the Huracán Superleggera will most likely feature full carbon fiber door panels with only a strap to pull and close them, also the carbon fiber sports seats will be used with possibly an option to go for ‘comfort seats’ while several parts of the body will be made lighter so the overall ‘dry weight’ will be at least 100kg less than the normal Huracán LP580-2.

This brings us to probably the most important question … what about power? With the Gallardo the power increase between the regular model and the Superleggera was only 10 hp, will Lamborghini continue this evolution with the Huracán and give us an LP590-2 or an LP620-2 … who knows?

The problem is the competition has become rather fierce on the market, think about the McLaren 675LT with 675hp or the Ferrari 488 GTB with 660hp … so how much power should Lamborghini unleash for the V10 Superleggera? Rumor has it we’ll be looking at anything between 620 and 650 hp, do keep in mind we’re still talking about a naturally aspirated V10 engine, no turbocharger or supercharger, and no additional hybrid engine power.

When looking at the Gallardo Superleggera again you’ll notice there is a restriction on the exterior shades that are available for the lightweight model, on the Huracan that would mean a color list like this: Verde Mantis, Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Nero Noctis and Bianco Monocerus, most likely Rosso Mars would be added and perhaps the special Blu LeMans shade as seen on the Huracán Spyder.

As the Aventador Superveloce comes with a black Lamborghini script at the rear I think the Huracan Superleggera might go down the same route, it does look really nice on the lighter shades, but on a black car I’m not sure it is the best choice.

When Lamborghini will unveil the Huracán Superleggera hasn’t been officially announced, but chances are we will have to wait until the 2017 Geneva Auto Show, with dealer demonstrators shortly after that and customer deliveries toward the Summer of 2017 … about a year from now.

Just imagine a Lamborghini Huracán Spyder with the Superleggera evolution, we’ve seen that before on the Gallardo too, and it was called the Performante … would be great if Lamborghini would also create a Huracán Performante shortly after unveiling the Superleggera.

Last week spy shots were captured of what many believe is the street legal version of the impressive Lamborghini Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo race car, AutoGuide published photos of a black Huracan with a rather interesting exhaust system installed.

In fact the style of exhaust, which shows two tips higher up on the rear fascia of the Huracan instead of the quartet below in the diffuser (which are still there on this test car, but are for show only apparently), looks very much like the system used on the Huracan GT3 racer while the Super Trofeo car has a double exhaust in the center of that same panel.

Looking closely at the black Huracan on the photos it looks like the brakes are slightly larger too while a decal from Becker Carbon, a well-known carbon fiber specialist, might hint at the fact we are looking at a stripped-down, lightweight version of the current production V10 … which might seem strange as Lamborghini has their own carbon fiber research department, so why would they even enlist a third party … might be just a smoke screen however, like all the other decals on the car and the German license plates.

If this is indeed an actual Lamborghini test car it is most likely just a mock up model to test the engine with a new, more free flowing exhaust system that will allow a higher power output from the V10 unit, currently rated at 610hp it would probably be very easy to add 10hp by just changing the exhaust system, which would bring us at the LP620-4 designation, similar to the Super Trofeo race car but with four-wheel drive for the open road.

Now you might ask yourself why only a 10hp power increase … in fact when the Gallardo LP560-4 became the Superleggera edition it was called LP570-4 … a 10hp increase too, but with the reduced weight the Superleggera became a totally different car once on the road, my guess is that will be the same when Lamborghini unveils the Huracan Superleggera edition … an LP620-4 but with 100kg less weight it would be a changed car altogether.

So if we take a look at the just released Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce we might get an idea on how Lamborghini will handle the lightweight version of their V10 super car, on the spy shots the body of the car looks standard, but I’m sure Lamborghini will turn the Huracan Superleggera into a street version of their track cars, so up front we will probably be seeing a more aggressive bumper installed, with massive air intakes but without the ‘canards’ on the side … as those wouldn’t be street legal worldwide.

On the side the stunning lower sills from the Super Trofeo would look amazing on a Huracan Superleggara … I would love to see wider wheel arches and the side sills from the GT3 car on a Superleggera, but I think that would be too wild in fact … a Huracan Superleggera is a race inspired lightweight version of the regular car … not a street legal, rather impractical racer.

Same with the rear lower diffuser, even the one used on the Huracan Super Trofeo might be too much for a street car so for my renders I took inspiration from the Aventador Superveloce and used a rear diffuser in that style … still very aggressive and with those vertical fins for stability, but softened down for road use.

I for one love the ‘hanging’ design of the rear wing on both the Huracan Super Trofeo and Huracan GT3, but for the Superleggera I think a more subtle style like the adjustable rear wing from the Aventador Superveloce might be appropriate here … remember there is always a Squadra Corse edition too, which in case of the Gallardo did come with the Super Trofeo rear wing … you have to leave some space for even wilder versions right?

With the new aerodynamics installed we most likely didn’t shave too much weight from the original Huracan yet, especially that rear wing and lower diffuser would probably counteract any weight loss we managed from the front bumper and side sills … so we need to find more room for improvement … get rid of the original seats with their electric motors and most of the time heating and replace them with lightweight carbon fiber backed units, add carbon fiber door panels and a different exhaust system with those two impressive tips and that 100kg has been lost along the way.

With the exhaust being replaced with a track derived unit and some tweaking of the Engine Management Unit the power output for the Huracan Superleggera could go up to 620 hp making the full denomination probably : Huracan LP620-4 Superleggera, add a nice set of center lock wheels and the race feeling is complete.

And with the Huracan LP610-4 Spyder just around the corner and testing being done on the Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce Spyder it would be highly likely we will also be seeing a Huracan LP620-4 Performante too … the open top version of the Superleggera.

Automobili Lamborghini SpA has just revealed the first computer generated images of the Gallardo successor, the Huracán LP610-4 shows some innovative design elements and the specifications that have been published show some impressive figures too.

With 610hp from the 5.2 liter V10 engine the new Huracán can do 100Km/h from a stand still in only 3.2 seconds while the 200Km/h marker is reached in less than 10 seconds … top speed over 325Km/h just to mention a few numbers.

But we all know this Huracán LP610-4 is just the beginning of a series of evolutions to come in the next years … models like a Spyder, a Superleggera and a Blancpain Super Trofeo are surely in the pipeline up next … so why not take a sneak peak into the future of this new V10 Raging Bull.

First up will probably be a Huracán LP610-4 Spyder that will allow open top motoring in true Lamborghini style. As with the outgoing Gallardo I don’t think the new Huracán Spyder will be using one or more removable panels like the beautiful Aventador LP700-4 Roadster does … the V10 Spyder will have a roof that folds down by the push of a button, the only question will be if Lamborghini stays with a canvas roof or if they will take the route of a metal sectioned roof construction … whichever option they decide on in Sant’Agatha I’m sure the Huracán LP610-4 Spyder will look absolutely amazing, even more so in the bright Arancio Borealis pearl metallic orange shade for instance.

Usually the next evolution after a Spyder version becomes available is a high powered lightweight version, so that could be a Huracán LP650-4 Superleggera for instance … increased power output from the known V10 engine and weight reduction by using even more carbon fiber and lightweight seats, possibly removing a few creature comforts from the standard fitment list … add some special wheels, clear carbon fiber parts for the exterior including a nice rear wing … and a decal on the door … meet the Huracán LP650-4 Superleggera finished in Verde Ithaca.

If all goes as planned the current, 2013 specs Blancpain Super Trofeo race car will again be used for the 2014 season … however the 2015 Blancpain Super Trofeo championship will be taking the Huracán to the race track, most likely in a full race dress inspired by the latest Gallardo evolution … I’ve put together the Reiter Engineering version finished in black and white with the stunning Blancpain logo on the side.

Next step could be an open top version of the high power LP650-4 Superleggera edition … the so-called Huracán LP650-4 Performante, boasting a foldable roof with the styling cues from the Superleggera rolling on some amazing wheels … I put together a virtual concept finished in white … just like the Gallardo LP570-4 Performante back in late 2010.

Now we already know the new Lamborghini Huracán shouldn’t be getting the long list of models and special editions like the Gallardo did, so no BiColore, TriColore, Hong Kong … or any other of those low number versions … still towards the end of the production we might be seeing a Huracán LP650-4 Super Trofeo Stradale in Rosso Mars or a Huracán LP650-4 Squadra Corse in grey metallic …

Once customers have endured the long wait until their very own Huracán LP610-4 is delivered at their local dealership we will most likely be seeing a plethora of tuners taking on the new Baby Lamborghini, first with a set of custom wheels from the likes of ADV.1, PUR, HRE and others … later on joined by a long list of aerodynamic parts suppliers like DMC and Mansory …

Naturally we will bring you additional renders of the Huracán LP610-4 showing styling elements and custom wheels over the next few weeks …

Yesterday I noticed the wheels on the new Lamborghini Huracán photos taken during winter testing had a nifty way of hiding the actual design … they used tape to make it look like there were wide spokes, while in fact the design looks totally different once you remove this tape virtually.

Naturally all those spy shots only show a prototype hiding under some serious cameo decals, but still we get an overall impression on how the new Lamborghini V10 model might look when we finally be able to see it in a few weeks … but I couldn’t wait that long, so I put together a virtual look on how the new Lamborghini Huracán looks with the correct wheels … and in different shades.

Rumor has it the Huracán will be called the LP610-4, so I made a few concepts showing the 610hp Raging Bull in Verde Ithaca, Bianco Monocerus and Nero Noctis … I even did a special blue shade just to be different from the usual red and orange shades.

Then I started thinking about the next step in the evolution of the Lamborghini Huracán, sure we’ll be seeing a Spyder version after deliveries of the original LP610-4 are smoothing out … but will Lamborghini once again create a more powerful lightweight version of this new model … something like an Huracán LP650-4 Superleggera for instance.

I sure hope so, hence I made a few virtual renders showing an Huracán LP650-4 Superleggera concept in the fashionable Rosso Mars and Bianco Monocerus, but also in Nero Noctis because I really like black Bulls … and on a Superleggera edition I think Arancio Borealis might be a good idea too.

Naturally all these images and specs are purely speculation, even if Automobili Lamborghini SpA will be building a Superleggera edition of the Gallardo successor it will probably be even more aggressive looking than the one I’ve put together … but it is always nice to dream no?

If you are looking for custom wheels to fit onto your Lamborghini chances are you will at one point arrive at PUR Wheels, this company has been building some of the most amazing looking after market rims for exotic cars you’ve even seen … remember they were among the first to unveil a finish called ‘Rose Gold‘ and recently showed a matte grey Gallardo with red anodized wheels that were later replaced by ‘Giallo Tenerife‘ finished wheels … innovation is what it is all about at PUR Wheels.

And now we get to admire a bright green metallic Lamborghini Gallardo (official name is Verde Ithaca naturally) that received a set of 8IGHT Monoblock units from PUR Wheels, these wheels are characterized by very delicate looking, rather thin spokes … five of them per wheel in fact, and especially the wider version fitted at the rear of this Gallardo show a very impressive inward curve of these spokes … these are very special looking wheels … just perfect for this equally special Lamborghini.

However the beautiful PUR Wheels are just one part of the equation here, the brake calipers on this car have been repainted in a magnificent TriColore scheme complete with black Lamborghini script … this takes the entire car to the next level, and thanks to the narrow spokes of the PUR 8IGHT Monoblock wheels you can admire the brake calipers even better … at the rear the wide Toyo Proxes tires measure a whopping 315mm … full specs of these are 315/25ZR20 … so the PUR Wheels are 20 inch units all around.

The owner of this Verde Ithaca Gallardo had the roof and windshield pillars wrapped in matte black, also the glass engine cover got a matte black wrap while a massive Super Veloce style rear wing was ordered from DMC, complete with vertical stabilization fins … add some window tint and you are looking at a very, very impressive package while the overall stance of the Lamborghini Gallardo has been optimized with a lower suspension nicely tucking the larger rims into the wheel arches.

The latest photos published by PUR Wheels on this car list it as a Superleggera, and it sure looks to be one of those illusive Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera models with that far forward pointing front bumper with the large side vents and matte black sections, there is even the typical black decal on the side with the Superleggera script and TriColore flag at the top … but somehow things started to look strange.

So I started looking around and found some older photos on the PUR Wheels website showing an identical shade Gallardo, complete with front bumper, carbon side skirts, carbon fiber rear view mirrors and a massive clear carbon fiber rear diffuser with those awesome ‘heat discolored’ exhaust tips rolling in identical wheels in front of the same TriColore brake calipers … only this car was an LP550-2 edition.

This Gallardo LP550-2 didn’t have the large DMC rear wing installed and the roof was still finished in Verde Ithaca … while the black decal on the door red ‘Gallardo’ … on these later photos there is a genuine looking ‘Superleggera’ script on the door but one more thing got me looking for clues: the rear wing.

I admit that massive DMC rear wing looks really nice and fits in style with the rest of this green Gallardo like a glove, but take a close look at the rear view … the original rear wing with rear view camera is still in place … and it is color coded green with a matte black wrap on top, also the engine cover … albeit being a glass one like on the Superleggera … isn’t finished in clear carbon fiber just like that small, original rear wing. Now on the LP570-4 Superleggera the high rear wing was a $6,500 option and this smaller one was standard … but it should be clear carbon fiber.

Some more details didn’t add up either, take a look at the side sills, sure the carbon fiber fin is there, but look closer at the green section … there is a matte black curve going up just ahead of the rear wheels, which came into play with the Gallardo LP550-2 while there should be a nice plate stating ‘LP570-4’ in front of the rear wheels too … there isn’t one on either side.

But then again … who cares … with looks like this the added bonus of being rear wheel drive only adds even more fun to driving it. This Lamborghini Gallardo looks really nice, and even if it is a Superleggera look alike … I sure wouldn’t mind parking it on my driveway.

If the latest gossip on the internet holds any truth we might be seeing an amazing successor to the popular Lamborghini Gallardo in a few months … latest rumor mentions a public introduction at the 2013 IAA in Frankfurt with CAD drawings being finalized during the summer of this year.

Initial figures seem to conclude we will be seeing a further evolution of the V10 engine used in the current Gallardo model, at the moment a power output of 570 bhp is available on the outgoing model and we all know a new model will offer a power increase … numbers like 600 bph and even 610 bhp have been going around lately with acceleration figures from 0 to 100 Km/h in the 3.2 seconds region thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber to keep the weight down.

Nothing official has been released in terms of styling yet, but my guess would be that the various concept models and prototypes I’ve seen over the last decade could be a preview of some kind on what Lamborghini has been working on as a Gallardo successor.

So I took styling from the latest Gallardo models and combine that with details from the Sesto Elemento and the brand new Egoista to come up with a virtual mockup of how the new Lamborghini V10 could look like in the initial LP600-4 version as an MY2014 model.

Now we all know an LP600-4 Spyder will follow the original closed version in a year or two, so I’ve created a preview on an open top V10 model for 2016 production, the next year Lamborghini intends to have the Urus ready for production so I would wait it out another year and have the ultimate V10 model ready for 2018 production … the LP650-4 Superleggera with wild looking rear wing and stunning new wheels.

Naturally all of these mockups are pure speculation … but the unveil of a Gallardo successor is just around the corner now, and the 2013 IAA in Frankfurt, Germany could be the perfect timing to finally blow the competition completely out of the water with a brand new, innovative V10 model from Sant’Agata.

Back in 2007 a very special evolution of the Lamborghini Gallardo was unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show … a lightweight model that clearly showed a race pedigree with a modified V10 engine now delivering 530hp in a car that shed 100kg … called the Superleggera.

This lightweight received some special body parts in carbon fiber, an optional clear carbon fiber rear wing and a stunning glass engine cover combined with amazing looking Scorpius wheels made the exterior look really impressive … and then you open the door to admire a clear carbon fiber door panel and a central console in the same material with Alcantara clad racing seats with … yes, a carbon fiber back and stylish ‘Superleggera’ script on the sides … and optionally available four point seat belts that could be fit to another option … a rear tubular frame.

So it was clear from the start the Gallardo Superleggera was something special, a very good base to tune into a street racer like the matte black model featured here, which might take a second look to figure out completely as it isn’t looking factory standard anymore.

The first thing you notice is the front … it looks like the 2010 LP570-4 Superleggera because of the new style front bumper that has been mounted, a very popular move these days to get your aging Gallardo looking more contemporary, many owners are mounting either the LP560-4 or the LP570-4 Superleggera unit (or a replica) on their pre 2008 V10 Bulls these days … still the original headlights are a clear giveaway.

Replacing the headlights would also mean a different front hood, and I’m not too sure the wiring wouldn’t need changing, so we don’t see too many pre 2008 Gallardo models that also received the LP560-4 headlights, but they do exist … just like some owners go through even more trouble and replace the rear section to put the later model taillights in place and install a quad tip exhaust system to make their classic Gallardo look like a much younger model.

But the owner of this matte black Gallardo Superleggera went a totally different route, sure he installed a more recent front bumper, but was it for the looks or because the original one got damaged? It would make perfect sense to replace a ruined front with an OEM version of a later model I think, on the other hand the owner did install the high riding rear wing seen on the Super Trofeo Stradale limited edition, instead of the classic red tips this car features bright green on the end plates of this rear wing, the same shade we encounter on the brake calipers.

While we’re admiring these brakes you can’t but notice some of the most beautiful custom wheels for the Lamborghini, made by renowned ADV.1 these are the ADV05.1 SL units in massive 20×9 inch and 20×12 inch at the front and rear, finished in a fashionable matte black powder coating they fit perfectly on this V10 bull in the same matte black finish … these days available as Nero Nemesis straight from the factory, but on the 2007 Gallardo Superleggera this color wasn’t possible.

Also note the decal on the lower section of the doors, the Gallardo Superleggera already had a similar stripe, but this one comes from the later LP570-4 edition, it features the Italian TriColore at the top … do note the owner had the Superleggera script on the door color coded green, to get in line with the rear wing and the brake calipers.

The Gallardo Superleggera receives some really nice, Alcantara covered seats when it leaves the assembly line in Sant’Agata, these have a carbon fiber back and usually come with four-point seat belts as mentioned earlier … still the owner of this specific car wanted to remove even more weight from his Raging Bull so he installed full carbon fiber seat shells … that’s right, there is no padding in sight here, now you don’t buy a Gallardo Superleggera for the comfort on long drives, but I still assume he will put some kind of padding or cover over those seats when driving on the open road.

The matte black finish with the more recent front bumper, the green details on the new Super Trofeo Stradale rear wing and brake calipers behind those awesome ADV.1 wheels combined with those super lightweight carbon fiber seats all make up for a very good looking Lamborghini … and many owners would be more than happy to call it a day when they drive this one home … but on this Superleggera it was just the beginning.

Out of sight, but very much present when you open the engine cover and take a closer look … is the Twin Turbo conversion. That’s right, this Bad Bull isn’t putting 530hp on all four of those custom ADV.1 wheels anymore … but more likely something between 700hp on normal gas (93 Octane) and 1500hp on race fuel (VP-C16 117 octane) … so this Gallardo Superleggera not only looks fast … it also is blindingly fast.

Production of the Lamborghini Gallardo has reached over 13,000 units since the V10 Bull was introduced nearly 10 years ago, a successor to this very successful model is in the making with a worldwide premiere in 2014 so for now you’ll have to do with a further improvement of the current model lineup.

If you take a look at the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera and the open top cousin named the Performante you might wonder what could be even further improved on these top of the line models well Automobili Lamborghini SpA has the perfect answer now : the Edizione Tecnica taking the lightweight Gallardo to the next level.

Already at the top of the line, both the Superleggera and the Performante can now benefit from further improvements and individual styling. With the Edizione Tecnica upgrade the customer gets the high mounted rear wing as standard fitment while the carbon ceramic disk brakes are installed too to make the model one of the reference cars in this segment the power to weight ratio is a stellar 2,35.

But things get even more interesting when you look at the Gallardo Edizione Tecnica as only three shades are available, all in combination with some contrasting sections. First up is the very popular Nero Nemesis body with the roof pillars and the inside of the front air intakes finished in Arancio Argos, the second option is Bianco Canopus with the pillars and air intakes also finished in Arancio Argos and a final possibility is actually the inversed first option, a body in Arancio Argos but this time the pillars and intakes at the front are finished in Nero Nemesis.

In case this isn’t special enough the customer can always turn to the Ad Personam program available on all new Gallardo models in this case the sky is the limit and you can really create a one of a kind Raging Bull just for you as a client.

And it gets even better when you go for the Gallardo LP570-4 Performante with the Edizione Tecnica option, check out the photos of a red convertible in our updated image gallery.

Imagine you own a stunning Lamborghini Gallardo 5.0 model from the first series, either in coupé or Spyder shape, and you actually like the model, but you feel the look is getting a bit dated with the new styling seen on the LP560-4 and more specifically the LP570-4 Superleggera edition … however you don’t feel the need to sell the car you know inside and outside and step into a new adventure by getting the more recent edition.

In this case German based DMC has just come up with the perfect solution: why not turn your classic Gallardo into an LP570-4 Superleggera look alike … the Lamborghini Gallardo SOHO by DMC brings any V10 built between 2004 and 2008 up to specs with LP570-4 DNA … 2012 looks for a fraction of the price it would take to get a new Raging Bull.

Take a look at the front bumper, this DMC unit is a complete part, it just bolts onto the original mounting points used by the original bumper but it offers additional down force coupled to the stunning looks seen on the latest Superleggera edition, and it gets even better: the entire bumper is made from carbon fiber, which can be painted to blend in with the rest of the car … or it can be left in clear carbon fiber, on a black car that would really look amazing I think.

This isn’t a unit made from glass fiber and coated in carbon fiber, these DMC parts are completely made from carbon fiber, and even if you paint them, they still remain the best quality possible … and the SOHO kit continues with nice side skirts in the same lightweight material to blend in perfectly with the high rear wing … which happens to be finished in clear carbon fiber as you might expect.

But turning one of those classic Gallardo into a 2012 look involves another rather dramatic change at the back, the entire rear section is different, including the taillights, all grilles and the lower diffuser … they all have to be mounted to get the sporty impression you need.

But outside looks are only part of the deal here, take a look at those quad exhausts … remember the original Gallardo only used one large exhaust tip left and right, the LP560-4 and LP570-4 evolution went back to four pipes, two on the left, two on the right … so the DMC Gallardo SOHO just had to get this look too.

And the silencers aren’t for looks only, the sound the Raging V10 now emits through these stainless steel units reminds us of the soundtrack usually found around the track … when one of those Super Trofeo race cars comes thundering down the straight … the hairs in your neck will stand straight and you’ll get goose bumps all over … this isn’t noise, this is a symphony of mechanical genius.

Those four pipes can even be installed with an optional catalytic converter that has been modified for a more sports like performance … adding 28 hp extra to you V10 Gallardo so your Bull not only looks like a Superleggera but almost has the same power output too.

Now when you have an exterior looking like this it would be a shame not to put some tender love and care into the interior too, DMC can replace the aging leather with brand new hides from the best Italian cows, combine it further with some beautiful carbon fiber parts and you just know your Gallardo by DMC is ready for several additional years of pleasure … even if a totally new V10 could be unveiled in 2014 you will still be enjoying your revamped Gallardo that just reached its teen years by then … and it still looks only a few years old … who wouldn’t like that?

I must admit I really like the Gallardo Superleggera, even the original version from 2007 is a very impressive car with those carbon fiber door panels, the Superleggera script on the side, race inspired Scorpius wheels and four point seat belts on amazing looking seats.

However when the new LP570-4 Superleggera was unveiled in 2010 it took the track look one step further … but that doesn’t mean the original Superleggera is any less interesting, especially when you change a few details on it like the owner of this bright orange (Arancio Borealis) did … details would be an understatement in this case to be honest.

We are looking at a 2007 Gallardo Superleggera model here, but the owner had it uprated ‘a little’ by Underground Racing … you know, the people behind the Twin Turbo conversions available for most recent Lamborghini models, they have a 1200 hp Aventador available among others, and on the Gallardo range they offer a few stages.

If you keep the stock engine you can opt for Stage 1 that will release 650 hp on 93 Octane gas … or 850 hp on race fuel (117 Octane), priced up to $40,000. If Underground Racing can modify the engine things change quite fast, a Stage 2 installation (about $70,000) delivers 850 on normal gas and an impressive 1150 hp on race fuel … and it gets even better: Stage 3 goes for $94,000 but hands out 1000 hp or 1250 hp depending on the gas you put into it.

Not good enough? No problem, Underground Racing Stage 4 kit for the Gallardo starts at $109,000 and comes with a highly modified engine … 1050 hp on 93 Octane gas, and no less than 1500 hp when using 117 Octane race fuel … try keeping that on the road when you take delivery.

But the Twin Turbo conversion isn’t the only ‘modification’ done to this Gallardo Superleggera, take a close look at the front and you will notice the bumper has been replaced with a more recent version, this is the LP560-4 model bumper, why the LP570-4 Superleggera bumper wasn’t used I can’t tell, but the LP560-4 version already changes the entire look of this lightweight V10 Bull.

Finally the factory fitted Scorpius wheels have been replaced by beautiful units from the well-known HRE Wheels collection, a well-known custom rim manufacturer with a long history of fitting superb looking wheels to Lamborghini and other exotic car makes … in this case the C93 model was installed with a satin black finish and polished outer lip.

Taking a second look at the car, especially the side view, clearly shows the ride height was modified too, the wheels are snugly fitting inside the wheel wells … the Superleggera is ‘floating’ very close to the road, and it looks perfect … and drives even better: Elite Motorsports who own this beauty has been pushing the 1508whp to the limit regularly … they reached 204.9 Mph on the standing half mile at the Houston shootout.

The Lamborghini Gallardo is without a doubt the most popular model ever made in Sant’Agata, production numbers show this quite clearly, and with the subsequent updates over the years this V10 kept on selling at a steady pace which means a lot of Gallardo will be customized in time … even the limited edition Superleggera edition from 2007 doesn’t escape the personal touch some owners want to apply to it.

I must admit a Superleggera lightweight version of a V10 Lamborghini isn’t the worst base to start with, even in factory original trim this is a very impressive car, add a few personal modifications and some TLC to it and you end up with an amazing looking car at a fraction of the cost it would take to buy a brand new one … the original Superleggera is about 5 years old today, so prices did come down a bit if you want to acquire one, leaving you some extra cash to modify it.

This specific yellow Superleggera has been mildly optimized, up front we get the amazing looking LP570-4 Superleggera bumper (minus the matte black sides however) that draws the ‘old’ car right into the latest style, at the back the high, clear carbon fiber rear wing was an option originally, but I doubt many left the factory doors without it.

Another obvious update are the clean ADV05 Deep Concave wheels, this time not finished in matte black but with a brushed center and a shiny polished lip, a bit bigger in size compared to the already good looking Scorpius wheels the factory mounts they look extremely modern on this Bull, yet remain classic enough not to look over the top.

Recently we found photos of a matte grey wrapped Lamborghini Gallardo that looked like an LP570-4 Superleggera edition, but upon closer inspection the wheels where not correct … and then we discovered several other details that just didn’t add up.

Then it hit us … this was an early series Gallardo 5.0 model with some extensive modification done to it, apart from the stunning looking matte grey finish the owner had the front bumper replaced by a current Superleggera version, and it totally changes the overall look of the car, but that wasn’t the end of the story, check out the rear wing, that’s also a Superleggera unit, the optional high wing to be specific … and the engine cover was replaced along the way too, now holding the glass window so people can admire the V10 below … uprated to 535 HP by the way.

At the rear we also notice the taillights were replaced with more recent LP560-4/LP570-4 units, and the top covers were also installed, however the fins on the ‘shoulders’ remained as did the rear bumper with the two exhaust pipes … would be great to see that one replaced with a more recent rear bumper and the quad exhaust setup.

The lower diffuser at the back does look custom however, a bit lower than normal while the wheels remain second generation Gallardo units, the Callisto wheels first seen on the Gallardo SE from 2005 and later available on the regular Gallardo MY2006.

A nice touch on this car is the fact the exterior rear view mirrors remained glossy, nicely contrasting against the mostly matte finish on the rest of the bodywork … the overall impression this Gallardo gives out is a magnificent, industrial look. The car draws attention in a positive way and the small modifications pull it straight into the recent car styling rage.

The sportiest and most “purist” Gallardo ever.

The new more powerful and lightweight series leader.

With the Gallardo Superleggera, Automobili Lamborghini presents an uncompromisingly high-performance sports car. Thanks to increased power (an additional 10 hp) and a 100 kg reduction in weight (USA 70 kg), the new range-leading Gallardo Superleggera is even more dynamic than the already very sporty Gallardo. The weight/power ratio of the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is only 2.5 kg/hp, which puts it unquestionably at the top.

The Superleggera also has the fastest acceleration in its class. It needs only 3.8 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph); 0.2 seconds less than the basic model, and boasting speed and grit under other driving conditions.

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera is an extremely high-performance car: it includes a standard robotized mechanical “e-gear” gearbox that guarantees shifting without removing hands from the steering wheel. The new Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered through the dealer network starting March 2007: production volumes will be restricted to lower numbers than the standard Gallardo.

More power thanks to technological developments

The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera’s engine is the latest version of Lamborghini’s well-known 4,961 cm3 V10. Now 530 hp is reached in 8,000 min-1. The increase in power was made possible by the engine’s improved volumetric efficiency through reduced intake load losses and by exhaust backpressures, together with optimized electronic control. Naturally, emission levels observe the strict EURO 4 and LEV II standards.

Higher power thanks to lighter construction

Lamborghini engineers decreased the Lamborghini Gallardo’s already low weight when empty (1,430 kg) by another 100 kg using advanced materials and technologies. The engine hood is made of visible carbon fiber and transparent polycarbonate, a type of material that guarantees lightness and also shows off the magnificent V10. The rear diffuser and underbody covering, the rearview mirrors, door panels and the central tunnel’s covering are also made of carbon fiber. Further reductions in weight were achieved by replacing certain glass surfaces with transparent polycarbonate. For the interior, monocoque carbon fiber sports seats covered in Alcantara® were chosen to ensure restraint of the driver and passenger during the intense lateral accelerations that the Gallardo Superleggera is capable of achieving around curves.

Exclusive specification and options range

A comprehensive specification and extensive range of options will be available, with some exclusive to the Superleggera. The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera comes with robotized mechanical e-gear as standard; a sports package including shock absorbers; and special suede-covered steering wheel. The car is available in four colors: Midas Yellow, Borealis Orange, Telesto Gray and Noctis Black. Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires (standard) on new Scorpius forged rims accentuate the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. A few of the options that can be requested include the multimedia system with navigator and CD-changer; a rear video camera to make parking easier (with optional rear wing only); a Carbon accessories kit for the interior; a fixed rear spoiler; a four-point seatbelt (not for USA); tubular rear frame or fitting points for later inclusion (not for USA, Japan or Middle East); and carbon-ceramic brakes.

On August 15th a really nice picnic was organized on the grounds of Hever Castle in the United Kingdom, gathering a rather important number of amazing super cars, among them several Lamborghinis naturally, but also some TVR, Ferrari, Ultima and even a red Nissan GTR to name but a few.

I actually took the Eurotunnel from Calais in France to Folkstone in the UK so I could join the group and try to get some interesting photographs of the cars that arrived, as I made it to the Hever Castle early I was able to photograph the first cars there exclusively in front of the actual Castle, a place that is normally totally off limits for cars, which made for some amazing shots if I might say so.

The monumental Castle in the background of no less than three magnificent Raging Bulls (a Jalpa, a Countach and a Diablo) was really nice composition, but we had to hurry up as the other people were also arriving at Hever, and they were no longer allowed to park in front of the Castle itself but had to drive onto the grass, which wasn’t too bad either to be honest.

Over the course of the next few hours several amazing cars came up the driveway, like a very nice dark purple metallic Murciélago Roadster, or a light blue closed coupe version, but also several Countach made it to Hever that day.

Furthermore a nice collection of Gallardo and Diablo models, ranging from the early Diablo 2WD right up to the magnificent Diablo VT 6.0 finished in bright pearl metallic yellow.

Among the Gallardo collection I did notice several blue ones, never seen so many blue Gallardo together actually, also a very nice dark grey Superleggera was present, a very nice color combination on this ‘lightweight’, but my biggest surprise was a white Superleggera, not many were ever made in this shade, especially with RHD, unfortunately the owner of this white beauty didn’t take the time for a nice photo shoot, so I’ll have to return the UK later on to get some better shots of such a rare car.

And this wasn’t the only white Lamborghini at Hever, a very nice Diablo Roadster was finished in white over black, it was accompanied by a black Murciélago and a red Countach, this was the first time I’ve ever seen a white Superleggera and a white Diablo Roadster together, a really nice sight. Also note this very nice blue metallic Diablo with a white leather interior, made even more impressive by the Gumball 3000 decals all over the car, the metallic shade sure brightened up nicely once the sun came out later that day.

Lamborghini will present the Gallardo Superleggera at Geneva.

The latest news from Sant’Agata just reached us, Automobili Lamborghini SpA will display their latest evolution of the Gallardo at the 2007 Geneva Auto Show, the Gallardo Superleggera, a car that was created for the most demanding customer.

Be removing about 100 Kg from the original Gallardo and installing a new, light weight exhaust system combined with a newly programmed ECU and a new throttle body, the V10 engine pumps out 530 Bhp in the Superleggera compared to 520 Bhp in the ‘normal’ Gallardo, which results in a 0 to 100 Km/h time of only 3.8 seconds, a full 0.2 seconds faster than the standard Gallardo.

This weight loss puts the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera at the top of the Gallardo model line and boasting a better weight to power ratio than any of it’s direct competitors on the market today.

To achieve such figures a lot of parts on the Superleggera have been replaced, the inner door panels now are finished in clear Carbon Fiber, just like the central console and the hand brake lever to name but a few. The very sporty seats are no longer electrically adjustable and receive a dedicated stitching of their alcantara upholstery while the well known e-Gear is standard however the manual gearbox is available as a ‘no cost’ option.

The engine cover on the Superleggera has been replaced by a clear Carbon Fiber unit featuring a light weight Polycarbonate transparent section, also note that the windscreen has been made thinner to further reduce weight, the exterior rear view mirrors are also finished in Carbon Fiber and the rear bumper now also features a clear Carbon Fiber lower section as are the lower side sills.

A very nice touch is the new, rather high ‘Superleggera’ rear wing, again finished in Carbon Fiber to stay in line with the rest of the dedicated options on this new Superleggera that will be built in more limited numbers compared to the standard Gallardo.

To further underline the ‘sporty’ feel of this new Gallardo Superleggera there is even the option of having the preparation done so you are able to fit a full roll-over bar inside the Gallardo Superleggera, how’s that about racing style for the road ?

The Gallardo Superleggera can be ordered at your local dealership from March at a 20% higher price compared to the standard Gallardo, delivery should start towards the summer of 2007, but expect the waiting list to grow steadily, a lot of people have been waiting for this kind of ‘Super’ Gallardo over the last few years, so I think the orders will start flooding in very quickly.
