During the Monterey weekend event in the United States the CEO of Automobili Lamborghini SpA, mr Stephan Winkelmann confirmed there will be a brand new super car unveiled during the 2016 Geneva Auto Show … this will be the highly rumored hypercar that came up last week.

Rumor has it this car will become a very limited production model based on the Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce that was introduced at the 2015 Geneva show with only 20 Coupé and 10 Roadster versions made, priced way above the regular Aventador … but not as high as the Veneno, most likely the price will be about the same as the Reventon from 2008 which was a highly modified Murciélago LP640 … the Reventon was sold at €1,000,000 back then … take into account inflation and you are looking at a price around the €1,500,000 mark for this new V12 super car I guess.

Most likely this new hypercar will have an increase in power, some talk about as much as 800 hp, others mention a more conservatively 770 hp … while another rumor surrounding this new limited edition model is the fact it could be a hybrid, in which case we would be looking at a power rating that could reach the 1,000 hp mark. Keeping in mind the Asterion LPi910-4 added 300 ‘electric’ hp to the original 610 hp V10 engine a similar increase in power would bring the Aventador LP750-4 engine up to 1050 hp in total … that would really put the LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder and McLaren P1 at a distance.

Last week word came out Lamborghini had sent out invitations to current owners and possible buyers for a ‘behind closed doors’ unveil of this new car … however it is very unlikely these people will get to see an actual car at Pebble Beach this weekend … most likely the unveil will be limited to a presentation and a holographic animation according to Road and Track.

Another very interesting bit of information was given by Stephan Winkelmann today … there are two additional versions of the Lamborghini Huracan just around the corner … let’s hope this means we will be seeing the coveted Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder at the 2015 IAA in Frankfurt in September, and maybe there is a Huracan LP610-2 rear wheel drive only version in our future too.
