In 1966, Lamborghini introduced the inaugural 400 GT, also known as the 400 GT Interim. This model was essentially a reworked version of the previous Lamborghini 350 GT, equipped with a larger and considerably more potent V12 engine. Lamborghini's engineers expanded the stroke from 77 to 82, resulting in a total displacement of 3929cc. This upgrade boosted the power output from 270 to 320 bhp at 6500 rpm.

The Miura dramatically revolutionized the automotive industry in ways that very few vehicles have. It earned its status as the world's first authentic supercar. With a design vastly superior to the conventional engineering practices of its time, the Miura boasted a quad-cam V12 engine, located transversely behind the drivers. Upon its release, even high-end vehicles from the likes of Ferrari to Aston Martin appeared antiquated in comparison. The Miura truly reimagined the notion of a sports car.

The Lamborghini Espada made its grand debut at the 1968 Geneva Auto Show, following Ferruccio Lamborghini's insistence on the development of a genuine four-seater car. Throughout its decade-long production run, the Espada underwent various enhancements. Although each series saw updates to the engine and interior, the car's exterior design remained largely unchanged. From 1968 to 1978, the Espada held the title of Lamborghini's top-selling model.

Consider the Lamborghini Jarama as an upgraded iteration of the Lamborghini Islero. It was designed with a compact chassis, shortened by almost 11 inches, primarily to comply with U.S. regulations - which was the principal reason for its inception. The remarkable blend of a potent engine and opulent comfort made it one of the founder's most cherished models. The original GT came equipped with a V12 engine producing 350 bhp, followed by the GTS, which generated 365 bhp. The Jarama's production run yielded a total of 328 units.

Credit the 1970s oil crisis for the birth of the Urraco. This event compelled Lamborghini to design a car with a smaller, more emission-friendly engine. Concurrently, Lamborghini was seeking to expand its clientele, and these prospective customers desired a four-seater car that exuded luxury and comfort. The Urraco debuted as the first Lamborghini with a V8 engine, starting with a displacement of 2.5 liters that later increased to 3 liters. Lamborghini held the view that introducing a V8 model would position the brand to compete more effectively with rivals like the Dino 246 or Porsche 911.

Recognized as the Silhouette P300, the mid-engine Silhouette was founded on the Lamborghini Urraco platform. A mere 53 units were ever produced. The car was born during a challenging period for the company, which was battling for its survival. In a bid to stimulate sales, Ferruccio commissioned Bertone to reconfigure the Urraco P300 into a distinctive, more appealing car. The result was a comfortable vehicle with several enhancements.

Dubbed the Lamborghini Jalpa P350, this car represented the progressive development of the Silhouette and marked the final effort to craft a beginner-friendly Lamborghini with a V8 engine. The Jalpa boasted improved power and handling compared to its predecessor, and its body featured a fresh design, once again masterminded by Bertone. While the Jalpa's aesthetics may have been less flashy than the Silhouette, it actually exuded a very contemporary style.

The primary objective for the Diablo was straightforward: it had to achieve a minimum top speed of 315 km/h. Development began in 1985, and the company invested heavily in a new platform, more than ever before. Marcello Gandini was chosen to design the Diablo, and his efforts did not disappoint. The Diablo sported a refined V-12 engine, maintaining its four valves per cylinder, but now with an enlarged displacement of 5.7 liters and a newly integrated multi-point fuel injection system. This groundbreaking supercar was broad, low-slung, and futuristic. The Diablo, which saw production from 1990 to 2001, sold nearly 3,000 units.

The Lamborghini L147 project, as it was known during its development phase, was revealed in a spectacular event at the base of the Etna volcano on Sicily. Equipped with a mid-mounted V12 engine and the maker's signature transmission setup - with the gearbox positioned in front of the engine and the rear differential integrated into the powertrain - it also featured permanent 4WD with a central viscous coupling. The somewhat contentious design of this new Lamborghini provoked strong reactions from both owners and enthusiasts worldwide.

With over 14k units sold between 2003 and 2013, the Gallardo holds the title of the highest-selling Lamborghini ever. As an entry-level Lambo, it delivered power, dynamism, and embodied the true Lamborghini spirit. With its relatively long wheelbase and short overhangs at the front and rear, the Gallardo projected a muscular and dynamic appearance, while maintaining a compact look. The Lamborghini V10 engine, with a 90-degree angle and a dry sump, was designed to sit lower in the chassis. Indeed, the Gallardo is a landmark vehicle. Lamborghini has an unparalleled flair for creating supercars. Models like the Miura, Diablo, and Murcielago are renowned for their boldness, aggressiveness, loudness, and incredible speed. The Aventador carried on these traits but distinguished itself in a significant manner. Traditionally, Lamborghini supercars were challenging to drive, slightly unpolished, and often prioritized aesthetics over driving experience. However, the Aventador broke this mold. While it retained the iconic naturally aspirated V12 engine, it was notably easier to drive compared to its predecessors and offered all the desired luxurious comforts. The Aventador has served as Lamborghini's flagship model for over a decade, during which various variants have been released.
