When the Lamborghini Aventador took over in 2011, it took them just one year to create a one-off based on this new flagship, the Aventador J, featuring no roof whatsoever, and totally unique as only one was made in 2012, with a rumored price tag of $2,800,000, exclusivity comes at a price, but things got really interesting in 2013, the year during which Automobili Lamborgini celebrated their 50th anniversary (being founded in 1963), and yes, there is the Aventador LP720-4 50th anniversary with 100 units of the Coupe and 100 units of a Roadster, but earlier in 2013, at the Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini unveiled the extremely impressive Lamborghini Veneno.

And here is where things get really confusing, various sources get the number of Veneno made completely wrong, and I admit, it’s a little confusing, but in the end, it’s quite simple, in 2013 Lamborghini unveiled the Veneno Coupe in Geneva, finished in a silver/grey metallic called Metalluro, the ‘show car’ was in fact a so-called production prototype, and it was kept by the factory, while a total of three Lamborghini Veneno Coupe were sold to clients, and yes, all three were also finished in Metalluro, you couldn’t spec a different exterior color on your €3,000,000 few-off Lamborghini, the only option were the thin stripes on the lower section of the car and the Pirelli livery on the tires, you had Rosso, Verde, and Bianca, and that’s it.

Automobili Lamborghini SpA had no problem selling these three Veneno, they were sold out in a heartbeat, the Veneno Verde became famous in Miami thanks to the owner Kris Singh who drove it a lot, the Veneno Rosso was bought by Dominic who would later buy a Roadster too, but more on that later, but sadly the Veneno Bianca, so the one with the white ‘livery’ traveled the world, changing owner regularly, rumor has it she’s currently located in Germany, and for sale.

It is safe to say the €3,000,000 MSRP for a Veneno made some really good impression on the balance sheet at the end of the fiscal year, so management at Automobili Lamborghini SpA came up with a new idea, why not create a Veneno Roadster, ask for €3,300,000 and build some more? So by 2014, they unveiled a stunning looking, red metallic Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, and once again this was a production prototype that would remain the property of the factory, this time they offered 9 units for sale, and you could ask for any exterior and interior shade you wanted, no more restrictions.

It seemed in 2014 and 2015, Lamborghini struggled a little to sell nine units of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster at €3,300,000 each, don’t get me wrong, they sold out, but just not as quickly as the Coupe, it seemed clients looking to add a Le Mans inspired race car based on the Aventador flagship were more interested in a Coupe version than a Roadster, but as I said, they all sold out, and in the end, none of the 9 customer cars would be finished in Metalluro, the bespoke shade for the Coupe, a client did order one in Rosso Veneno to mimic the show car, one was finished in bright green, one in satin black, probably Nero Nemesis, another one boasted Nero Aldebaran, while Dominic, remember the one with the Veneno Rosso, opted for a white Veneno Roadster to join his Coupe (check out this video to see these side by side).

One of the final units of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was ordered with a visible carbon fiber body, with a satin finish and red details, and this one is arguable the most valuable Veneno Roadster in the world, it showed up in the Middle East a while ago, priced at $12,000,000, but I’m not sure she’s sold already, while one of the strangest color combinations was undoubtedly the white on ivory Veneno Roadster, sold at auction in 2019 for a massive CHF 8,280,000, which converted to €7,633,447 or US $8,296,572 at that time.

In 2020 another Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was listed at auction, this time by RM Sotheby’s in Paris, France on February 5, 2020, chassis number ZHWEB3ZD5FLA03002 at that time was a two-owner car with just 450 km, the ‘2’ at the end of the chassis depicts this as #2/9 Veneno Roadster, with an estimate between €4,500,000 and €5,500,000 (US$5,000,000 to 6,100,000) the car only reached €3,950,000 and subsequently didn’t sell, and it seems she went back to the Middle East as this very car is now inside the VIP Motors showroom in Dubai, alongside another Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, which happens to be the #1/9!

Enjoy this video from famous YouTuber Shmee150, or Tim, as he wanders into the VIP Motors showroom to find the first and the second units of only 9 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, and he even starts up the number 1 car, which has just a little over 100 km on the counter, it seems none of these Veneno Roadsters were actually driven all that much.

I’m not sure if we’re looking at the same car, but a glossy black with red livery Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was delivered to the Hong Kong dealership Kingsway Cars Limited together with a possible white unit back in early 2016, sadly none of the photos show the interior at that time, and usually, the seats get covers during shipping, so perhaps there are two glossy black Veneno Roadster, or the car currently in Dubai was once sold in the Far East.

As a closing note, there are in total 12 Lamborghini Veneno that have been sold to clients, 3 Veneno and 9 Veneno Roadster, that’s it, if you add the two production prototypes retained by the factory you end up with a total of 14, I did hear a rumor of a guy in the Far East that created a Veneno Replica based on an Aventador, but I have yet to see detailed high-res photos of that one, so for now, I’ll keep it at 12 Lamborghini Veneno in the world.

At an MSRP of €3,000,000 before taxes, you might think they had trouble selling the Veneno, but with only three made available to the public, they were all sold out before we even saw the car at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show … which probably made the Lamborghini marketing department eager to try this again. So in October 2013, they published a press release on the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, taking the impressive design of the Veneno Coupe into a real Roadster … they didn’t even bother to design a roof for the Veneno Roadster, a but like the one-off Aventador J a year earlier.

As all three of the Veneno Coupe sold out so quickly, Lamborghini decided to build nine Roadster for customers, at a 10% premium over the closed version, so at €3,300,000 each (about USD 4,500,000 back in 2013) you could get hold of an open-top supercar with racecar styling, and this time the customer could decide on the exterior shade and livery … on the Coupe, you had to go for a metallic grey called ‘Metalluro’ and settle for subtle touches of either green, white or red.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was introduced on the deck of an aircraft carrier in Dubai, finished in a stunning dark red metallic shade that looked close to the one seen on the Aventador J in 2012, but as mentioned earlier, customers could order their Veneno Roadster in any shade they liked, so we got to see glossy black, green, white … one customer even ordered a full carbon fiber body with a satin finish (absolutely stunning) and a Nero Nemesis as seen on this specific Veneno Roadster that went to auction in Paris in February 2020.

The famous RM Sotheby’s auction in Paris, France on February 5, 2020, listed this car with chassis number ZHWEB3ZD5FLA03002 as a two-owner sample with only 450 km on the counter, this was the second of nine ever built and was owned by Saudi Arabian royalty before.

With an estimate between €4,500,000 and €5,500,000 (US$5,000,000 to 6,100,000) the car only reached €3,950,000 and subsequently didn’t sell, it is still for sale at this moment, which is odd as only a few months ago, in September 2019, another Veneno Roadster sold for a massive CHF 8,280,000, which converts into €7,633,447 or US$8,296,572 … and personally, that white and cream one doesn’t even look as good as this satin black one if you ask me, granted the car sold in Switzerland only had 325km, but that can’t be the only reason this black Bull didn’t even reach her estimate.

Naturally, this car looks brand new and came with all the books and tools that accompanied her from the factory, with a price of €3,300,000 before taxes, the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was the most expensive Bull to leave the gates at Sant’Agata … only one of the nice Roadsters was finished in this off-white body with a luxurious beige interior (another one of the Roadsters was finished in white)

When the hammer came down, the final price, including the auction premium was a massive CHF 8,280,000, which converts into €7,633,447 or US $8,296,572 … which is a lot higher than the estimate set on this car back in June between €4,700,000 and €5,500,000 … someone really wanted to add this very rare car to the collection.

And this Veneno Roadster wasn’t the only limited edition Lamborghini that got sold during this auction .. how about one of only 15 Lamborghini Reventon Roadster, the other ‘few-off’ as Lamborghini calls them these days, but this time based on the Murciélago (the Veneno is based on the Aventador as you know) … back in 2009 the Reventon Roadster was introduced as the ultimate open-top Lamborghini, released two years after the Reventon Coupe (of which 20 were made).

The Lamborghini Reventon Roadster sold at this auction was a 2010 model, sold new in Switzerland and serviced by none other than Lamborghini Porrentruy, also known as Garage Affolter, chassis ZHWBE91N9ALA03997 has covered about 2,400 km before being sold in 2019 for CHF 1,955,000 (€1,802,341 or US $1,959,153).

A third rare Lamborghini sold at this same auction was a 2011 Murciélago LP670-4 Superveloce, finished in stunning Nero Nemesis, chassis ZHWBE81HXALA03981 reached a price of CHF 345,000 (€318,060 or US $345,737), with an intended production run of 350 units, the Murciélago Superveloce was intended to be the final evolution in the Murciélago range before the Aventador took over … but in the end, only 186 units were ever made, making this a rare car today.

A bright red, 1996 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster was also offered for auction at this event, chassis ZA9RE31A0XLA12064 was converted into an MY99 look-alike by replacing the original pop-up headlights with the fixed units, the previous owner even went as far as replacing the dashboard with the newer 1999 style … this by now classic Lamborghini reached a price of CHF 218,500 (€201,438 or US $218,965) including premium.

A classic 1969 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 concludes the Raging Bulls being sold at the Bonmont Sale auction, this one comes with a very interesting history about chassis numbers being swapped to avoid import taxes back in the Sixties, listed as nr 0415 it appears this car was, in fact, nr 0634 … still, she saw a sales price of CHF 345,000 (€318,060 or US $345,737) … exactly the same amount it took for the Murciélago Superveloce to sell.

Other interesting cars to sell at the Bonmont Sal were a 2015 Koenigsegg One:1 that reached €4,240,803 or US$ 4,609,561, a 2003 Ferrari Enzo for €2,862,542 or us$3,111,453, a 2015 LaFerrari Coupé for €2,014,381 or US$2,189,440, a 2015  Porsche 918 Spyder at €1,431,271 or US$1,555,682, a 2011 Aston Martin One-77 Coupé for the same amount, a 2010 Bugatti Veyron EB16.4 Coupé that reached €1,208,629 or US$1,313,567, a 2014 McLaren P1 Coupé sold for €1,166,221 or US$1,267,411, and if you think a Porsche 911 comes cheap these days, think again, a bright yellow 1993 964 Turbo S ‘Leightbau’ changed hands for €1,060,200 or US$1,152,211.

In late October 2013 an official press release from Automobili Lamborghini SpA revealed the new limited edition supercar, with the earlier Coupe version being sold in 3 units, all finished in the same shade called Metalluro, the Veneno Roadster counterpart would be built 9 times, and customers would be able to select their exterior and interior color.

Available at €3,300,000 (a €300,000 premium over the three Coupe versions) the factory demo car #0 was finished in a very impressive darker shade of red metallic, looking similar to the shade used for the one of a kind Aventador J from 2012, but as already mentioned, customers could order their own paint scheme.

The first customer car (#1) was also finished in this special shade of red, the #2 Veneno Roadster was finished in Nero Nemesis over a green interior, the #3 Veneno Roadster was sold in Hong Kong, finished in Bianco Isis, the #4 was finished in Nero Aldebaran over a red interior, the #7 is, in fact, the car that is going to auction, finished in a combination of Bianco Isis and Bianco Avorio.

The #8 Lamborghini Veneno is probably the most expensive one … it is finished in a full carbon fiber body with a satin top coat, it is absolutely stunning. The Veneno Roadster #9 is finished in bright green, Verde Singh according to some sources … and there is a second green Veneno Roadster out there, but we don’t know which number that is … so we’re missing one.

The #7 Lamborghini Veneno Roadster we’ll be seeing going to auction has been seen driving around in Geneva a few years ago, after that the car was kept out of sight … until now, when Bonhams will take her to auction in late September, I for one can’t wait to see how much a collector will pay to add this rare Raging Bull to his … or her collection.

The Lamborghini Veneno LP750-4 was intended for the 50th anniversary of the company, only three would be available to the public, priced at €3,000,000 each before taxes … they sold out even before the actual car was unveiled to the general public … in the end four units of the Veneno were built, one was kept by the factory and three were delivered to customers … all in a different livery.

In fact the Veneno would be sold in the shades of the Italian tricolore … green, white and red. The Veneno Verde was sold to Kris Singh who actively drives this extremely rare and valuable car, the Veneno Rosso was sold to Antoine Dominic who owns Lamborghini Long Island … so what happened to the Veneno Bianca?

Rumor had it Veneno 02, the Bianca one, was originally sold to a customer in the Middle East, but it was told to be available for sale shortly after or even before he took delivery of it … the white Lamborghini Veneno disappeared from view … it was supposed to be available for sale on the private market, the Veneno Bianca was never officially listed for sale … until now, rumor has it the car was initially delivered to Hong Kong, from there it went to China before arriving in Japan now.

Japanese ‘International Prestige car dealer’, Reckless Co Ltd in Fukuoka City lists the 2013 Lamborghini Veneno 02, or the Bianca, for sale at nearly €10,000,000. With only 840 km on the counter it seems this specific Veneno hasn’t been driven at all in the last few years … if this very rare Raging Bull will actually find a new owner at that price will probably never be disclosed, but it is safe to say the Veneno was a very sound investment in the end.

Note that all Veneno were finished in a metallic grey shade called Metalluro, the customer cars were different in the shade of the line on the carbon fiber, the interior, details on the wheels and brake calipers … they used the famous Italian Tricolore for this, one Veneno would have green accents, another would have red accents (like the Geneva show car, that would be kept by the factory so in total 4 Veneno were built) and the third customer car featured white accents.

And things got even better a few months later, by October 2013 the open top version of this race car inspired limited edition V12 saw the light of day … called the Lamborghini Veneno LP750-4 Roadster this new model was listed at €3,300,000 before taxes … only 9 cars would be available for customers while the initial one would remain at the factory, finished in Veneno Rosso, a very nice red metallic shade similar to the one seen on the one of a kind Lamborghini Aventador J, in total 10 Veneno Roadster exist in the end.

Fast forward to January 2016 when Lamborghini Hong Kong shows not one, but two Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, both being delivered to customers by Kingsway Cars Limited, one finished in a glossy, dark paint while the second one is a much brighter painted one … keep in mind these two Veneno Roadster side by side represent 20% of the total production of this model … this is one of the world’s most exclusive cars.

While the Lamborghini Veneno might look like a race car, it is still fully street legal, and in case of the Roadster version the experience of driving one of these rare Bulls is even emphasized by the absence of a roof … just like with the Aventador J there is no roof whatsoever on the Veneno Roadster … this is a barchetta in the purest form.

How about 750 hp being delivered to all four wheels, acceleration figures of 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.9 seconds and not running out of breath before reaching 355 km/h … all without the protection of a roof but with aerodynamic characteristics of a true race car … this is driving at it’s best.

While the Lamborghini Veneno could only be ordered in Metalluro, the Veneno Roadster was available in any shade the customer would like, the Veneno Rosso paint was used for the factory car, and at least one customer car was also ordered in this red metallic paint, but other Veneno Roadster were delivered in glossy black, glossy white, glossy green and one was even delivered in a matte, clear carbon fiber finish … if you are spending €3,300,000 on a car like this, the sky is the limit when it comes to specifying the exterior and interior color scheme … in fact one of the Veneno Roadster even had the carbon fiber parts painted in an off-white shade.

Some people don’t like the styling of the Lamborghini Veneno, be it the original Coupé model or this Roadster evolution … but to me the Veneno shows exactly what Lamborghini has been all about over the last 50+ years … being unconventional, brutal, aggressive … and not being held back by any means … the Veneno is a real Lamborghini … uncompromising.

By now all nine units have been sold, and one of the last ones, if not the very last one to be delivered to her lucky owner looks totally different from the 8 other Veneno Roadster. The previous Veneno Roadster we saw being delivered was already very special … finished in a matte carbon fiber with red details she looked absolutely breathtaking … this latest one looks … well, special.

In fact the owner requested most of the usual parts finished in clear carbon fiber (like the lower part of the front bumper, the side sills, the rear diffuser and that massive rear wing) to be painted in white, while most of the rest of the body received a beige tint … reminds us a little of a paint scheme seen on a Bugatti Veyron.

While the other Veneno come with a black alcantara interior combined with some colored piping and stitching … this white Veneno Roadster has a custom order white upholstery … the seats are completely white … or make that a light shade of beige, just like the panel behind the seats in fact … there is a lot of white going on inside and outside this very special Veneno Roadster.

And the personal touch doesn’t end yet … check out the wheels … usually the Veneno comes with glossy black rims, be it the Coupé or the Roadster, however this white Veneno Roadster has her wheels chromed … if the carbon fiber ring that is usually mounted onto these wheels has been painted white we don’t know, during transportation these rings are removed to avoid damage, so we’ll have to wait until this car gets spotted on the road to make sure the chromed wheels feature a white painted ring.

At the front you’ll notice the far forward, pointy nose section … remember the Sesto Elemento … the nose ‘cone’ perhaps isn’t as pronounced as on this Resonare, but it did immediately caught my attention, while from the side you clearly recognize the design of the door being similar to the Aventador doors … and on the Resonare these open upward too, just like on the Lamborghini flagship models ever since the mid Seventies when the legendary Countach introduced them.

On the roof, which holds a large amount of glass on the Resonare to allow light into the cockpit, Paul put an air intake, that continues into a vertical fin towards the rear of the car … Veneno inspired perhaps, while the louvers on the engine cover did bring back memories of the classic Miura … and the new Huracán naturally.

Talking about the new Lamborghini Huracán … let’s take a look at the interior of Paul’s Resonare concept … he took the ‘Hexagon‘ theme to an all new level, combining elegance and sports into one amazing looking setup, depending on color combination and finish he either installed Forged Composite details or clear carbon fiber units, while the seats and door panels don’t offer the well-known Lamborghini Q-Citura stitching … but an innovative hexagon pattern … very good looking by the way.

Even the steering wheel is a completely new design, but it still reminds us of the one seen in the Lamborghini Urus concept while the LCD display on the dashboard even uses a graphic from the Reventón combined with the Aventador speedometer while the central console houses a large display … probably for the navigation system and to display all kinds of settings in an easy way.

We all know both the Aventador and the Huracán have their ‘start/stop’ button hiding under a red cover that flips up to unveil the button to release all those Raging Bulls behind your back … on the Resonare there is a similar cover on the central console, but it is much larger … more pronounced. This console also houses the switches to control the gearbox while shifting paddles are located behind the steering wheel too.

Even after 12 months of working on the very special design of the Lamborghini Resonare concept Paul found the time to create a lot of different views of his amazing car, using several exterior shades each combined with a custom interior to really show how he envisioned his Lamborghini concept … and then he took it one step further.

Paul Czyzewski didn’t content himself with only one version of his Lamborghini Resonare Concept, even after creating a very high number of differently finished units … Paul also created the ‘Extreme’ version for the Lamborghini Resonare … a sort of Superleggera edition with different styling, a very impressive rear wing, lowered suspension and a stunning set of wheels … even extra power and less weight was mentioned in the description.

On the other hand Lamborghini has their Ad Personam program … Paul created the ‘Individual’ edition of his Resonare concept, with a black car that combines gold finished wheels and even gold plated parts on the interior … or a green detailed Resonare Individual, it is obvious creating this kind of detailed renders and versions took a lot of time and effort … the result is surely worth it.

Now there was only one option when you bought the Veneno back in 2013 …. which color to get for the trim on this 50th Anniversary celebration special … Verde, Bianco or Rosso. Kris opted for the Verde edition as he feels that is the real Lamborghini shade, the customer from the Middle East should have received the Bianco edition by now … which left the Rosso for Antoine Dominic … owner of Lamborghini Long Island.

In fact the red Lamborghini Veneno LP750-4 was delivered first, but it was kept under cover … until recently when the FaceBook page for Lamborghini Long Island showed two photos of this multi-million dollar hyper car from Sant’Agata.

Note that the Lamborghini Veneno Rosso is the closest ‘sibling’ to the original factory show and demo car, as it also has the red trim on the outer sections of the front spoiler, side sills, rear diffuser and rear wing, together with the red brake calipers and red Pirelli scripting on the tires … combined with red stitching inside.

One major thing that is in fact different with how the Veneno was shown at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show are the exterior rear view mirrors and the seats … both derived from the Aventador on all three production cars … however at least one of the ‘customer’ Veneno will get the original prototype seats and mirrors … Kris insisted he could get the stunning Forged Composite seats and the actual, thin rear view mirrors.

So we now have seen two of the three production Veneno … I wonder if the Bianco edition will ever be seen or photographed … just imagine all three of these Veneno side by side forming the Italian TriColore … how cool would that be?

In a matter of hours all three production units were sold out, a fourth one would be the production prototype … which would remain property of Automobili Lamborghini SpA … one of the Lamborghini Veneno LP750-4 was sold to a customer from the Middle East while two units were obtained by residents of the United States of America … Kris Singh was one of them, he managed to secure the ‘Verde’ unit.

In fact all three Veneno units would be the same general shade, Grigio Metalluro but would be differentiated between each other by detail trim … one of the cars sold in the USA would be the Rosso edition, which would be similar to the show car, while the second one was called the Verde edition ( the car on this page) and finally a Bianco trim went to the Middle East.

One of the first customer cars to be delivered went to Kris Singh in the United States, CEO of a private investment firm who opted for the Verde edition, which shows green brake calipers, green trim along the aerodynamic parts and even green Pirelli script on the tyres. Inside most of the stitching is finished in green too, both on the seats and on the dashboard … talking about the seats, the show car had some amazing looking Forged Composite units … however the three production units all came with Aventador style seats and exterior rear view mirrors … on this Verde edition these will be replaced by original show car units in the near future.

This specific Lamborghini Veneno LP750-4 was shipped from the factory to Prestige Imports, also known as Lamborghini Miami, to be prepared for delivery … Brett Davis (owner of Prestige Imports) took it upon himself to make sure this multi-million Dollar hyper exotic Bull received the best attention before being delivered to Mr Singh in Miami.

In fact the deal was put together between Mr Singh and St.Louis Motorcars/ Lamborghini St. Louis, owned by Graham Hill and J.J.Mills … mr Hill personally handed over the keys for this $4,106,000 Lamborghini … after taking delivery of the Veneno, Kris drove it to a restaurant to have dinner … while a crowd gathered outside admiring what can only be called the wildest street legal super car ever made.

With only three made, Mr Singh confirmed he would actually be driving this car on the open road, he even ordered a complete extra set of wheels and tires, just to make sure he can enjoy this amazing automobile to the fullest, in fact the car will go back-and-forth between his homes in the Miami and West Palm Beach areas.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has been unveiled a few months ago as the open top evolution of the extremely impressive Veneno LP750-4 shown in Geneva back in 2013, only three units of the original Veneno were built and it sold out even before the public could admire it on the Automobili Lamborghini SpA stand at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show … the show car would actually remain at the factory while three additional units were built for customers, two in the United States and one for a client in the Middle East.

The red metallic finished Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has been used as a demo car by the factory, first shown in a very impressive private house in the United States, later on the official World Premiere happened on top of an Italian aircraft carrier in the port of Abu Dhabi … and now this very rare Bull showed up at the CES 2014 in Las Vegas.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster will have a limited production of only nine units, each priced at USD 4,500,000. The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster was unveiled on December 1st, 2013 in Abu Dhabi in the presence of His Excellency Giorgio Starace, Italian Ambassador to the UAE and the Admiral of High Seas Forces, Paolo Treu.

Guests on board Nave Cavour enjoyed hospitality from chef Corrado Corti of Italy’s famous Hotel Splendido in Portofino, who flew in especially for the occasion. Singer and actress Elena Bonelli opened the event with the Italian national anthem; fashion designer Giada Curti offered a tableau vivant of her creations with ten top models. One of the happy few to sit in the Veneno Roadster was former captain of the national Italian soccer team and 2006 world champion Fabio Cannavaro.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster made its public debut on board the Italian naval aircraft carrier Nave Cavour on 1 December 2013.

At an exclusive ‘Italian evening’ attended by authorities, clients, VIPs and media, the limited edition super sports car, of which only nine will be produced, was formally unveiled on the flight deck of the 240 metre ship while docked in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed port.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is a fully road legal, open top car, bringing the aerodynamic efficiency of a racing prototype to the road, with extreme design and breathtaking performance. The nine units will be built during 2014, priced at 3.3 million euro excluding taxes.

With a maximum power output of 552 kW / 750 hp, the V12 Veneno Roadster accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, with a top speed of 355 km/h. Shown in Abu Dhabi in the specially developed colour ‘Rosso Veneno’, each client will be able to individualize the colour of his Veneno Roadster to suit their personal preference.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is an open racing prototype with an extreme design and breathtaking performance. And it is one of the world’s most exclusive automobiles – not more than nine units will be built during the course of 2014 and sold at a price of 3.3 million Euros (excl. tax).

The Veneno Roadster is extreme and guarantees an intense driving experience – because open means truly open. There is no roof, just a strong rollover bar for optimum safety. The entire design of the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has been laid out for perfect airflow and downforce. The front end works as a large aerodynamic wing. The visual division of the rear fenders from the car body is a reference to the world of racing cars and optimizes the aerodynamic flow. The smooth underbody transitions into a substantial diffuser framing the four sizable exhaust pipes divided by a splitter. Large openings serve to ventilate the engine bay and direct airflow to the rear wing. The design of the adjustable rear wing is the product of motorsport experience and extensive aerodynamic simulation to ensure optimum airflow in the interaction of the rear wing with the rear diffuser.

The design of the exclusive alloy wheels is also determined by aerodynamic functionality – a carbon-fiber ring around the wheel rim works like a turbine to deliver additional cooling air to the carbon-ceramic brake discs. The intense paint color “Rosso Veneno” was developed exclusively for the Veneno Roadster, although each single customer will be able to individualize his own vehicle to suit his personal preferences.

The Veneno Roadster is further proof of Automobili Lamborghini’s unique competence in CFRP-based lightweight design. A monocoque made from carbon-fiber reinforced polymer forms the basis of the Roadster. All exterior parts are made from CFRP. The Veneno Roadster meets all safety and registration requirements worldwide, and naturally also incorporates a full complement of safety systems from airbags through to the adapted ESP handling system.

Carbon fiber dominates also the interior of the Veneno Roadster. The carbon fiber monocoque is visible inside the car around the central tunnel and the sills. The two lightweight bucket seats are made from Lamborghini’s patented Forged Composite. The woven carbon-fiber CarbonSkin is used to clad the entire cockpit, part of the seats and the headliner. Like a hi-tech fabric, this extremely fine-looking carbon-fiber matting fits perfectly to any form and reduces the weight of the vehicle.
The systematic, carbon-fiber, lightweight design of the Veneno Roadster is not only visible, it is also evident on the scales: with a dry weight of just 1,490 kilograms (3,278 pounds), the Veneno Roadster benefits from a power to weight ratio of just 1.99 kg/hp (4.38 lbs/hp) which guarantees a performance that is nothing short of mind-blowing. Even the stunning acceleration figure of 2.9 seconds cannot adequately describe it. Sure the Rosso Veneno finished Roadster that will only be built nine times was first shown in real life in a multi-million dollar house in Los Angeles USA back in late November, but that was a private viewing, a VIP invititation only event that had the show car from Sant’Agata on display … Lamborghini was planning a world premiere on a totally different level of awesomeness.

December 1. 2013 … Mina Zayed port in Abu Dhabi … a 240 meter long Nave Cavour aircraft carrier from the Italian Navy … Admiral of High Sea Forces Paolo True … His Excellency Giorgio Starace, the Italian Ambassador in the UAE … hospitality by the world famous chef Corrado Corti from Italy’s renowned Hotel Splendido in Portofino … the Italian national anthem sung by Elena Bonelli … creations from fashion designer Giada Curti … all this together with a group of VIP set the scene for one of the most impressive unveils of a super car ever seen in the world (check out the video)

The bright red Lamborghini Veneno Roadster would be raised like a fighter jet up to the deck level, surrounded by bright lights, smoke, fighter jets, helicopters … and two pilots … I’m sure it made even more sense being on the scene, this was surely one of the highlights of the 50th Anniversary year for Lamborghini, right up there with the Grande Giro and the unveil of the Egoista in Sant’Agata … the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster has officially been unveiled to the world … nine are being built in 2014 at €3,300,000 without taxes.

Customers can order their limited edition Roadster in this amazing looking Rosso Veneno shade … or opt for just about any color imaginable … in this case the sky is the limit, but only nine of them will be built, making the Veneno Roadster a little less rare compared to the original Veneno of which only three have been built (3 customer cars and one factory owned unit), but you have to admit a Veneno Roadster might just be that little more exotic in the end.

We are talking about a 6.5 liter V12 powered Raging Bull, acceleration from 0 to 100Km/h in only 2.9 seconds might sound academic to most of us … but a top speed of 355 Km/h with 750hp sound like music to our ears anyway … all this power covered by a design that is so radical and different than anything else on the road … it just might make this car worth every Euro of that 3.3 million price tag.

The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster does not have a roof you can install in case of rain … it just isn’t there, instead you have two large roll-over protection bars … and a simply stunning looking air intake in-between the seats … which does take up most of the view from the interior rear view mirror by the way … but with looks and power like this who cares what’s behind anyway … the car is pointing forward, and at 355 Km/h you’ll need all your attention in that direction.

Being made entirely from carbon fiber and forged composites it takes about 15,000 hours to complete a Veneno … after which it will put less than 1,500kg on the scales resulting in a power to weight distribution of 1.99 kg/hp … save to say this helps to put down those impressive performance figures.

And in the end the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster not only looks like a street legal race car … it offers some amazing features derived straight from the track … how about a pit-lane speed limiter, permanent cooling and rigid engine mounts? The dedicated wheels are forged units in 20 and 21 inch at the front and rear wearing Pirelli 255/30 ZR20 and 355/25 ZR21 tires … but these wheels also feature a removable carbon fiber ring … and a single, central lock system … just like on a race car.

Massive 400x38mm discs up front with 6-cylinder calipers and 380x38mm at the rear with 4-cylinder calipers make sure all this power can be slowed down in a hurry while the massive, clear carbon fiber rear wing offers three different aerodynamic settings … a 90 liter fuel tank offers a decent reach for the lucky few that will be able to own this ultra-rare Lamborghini.

I have heard not all of the nine units have found an owner yet … so make sure you don’t miss it and put in an order now … once sold out the value will most likely only go up, so get in on the MSRP and enjoy the best of the best made in Sant’Agata …

The Veneno proudly showed a 50th Anniversary script on a special Forged Composite plaque and it was believed this rare super Bull would be the ‘celebration’ model for 2013 … still Lamborghini released a more moderately priced Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversary model, first in Coupé form it was later on joined by a Roadster edition … only 100 units of each would be produced … and yes, they are all sold out too at the moment.

But Automobili Lamborghini SpA has another thing coming … we’ve heard about it on a forum when a customer actually received a call asking if they would be interested in a Veneno Roadster … now wait, are you talking about a stupendous looking race car … without a roof?

Indeed, it took the company from Sant’Agata a few more months but in the end they confirmed production of nine units of the magnificent looking Veneno Roadster, a mix between the original Veneno and the one-off Aventador J unveiled in 2012 … in fact the Veneno Roadster comes without a roof too, just like the latter one … this is a prototype race car for road use as it is street legal … a Veneno Roadster is probably the closest thing to a race car you are actually allowed to drive on public roads.

As usual Automobili Lamborghini SpA came up with a special shade for this new limited edition model … Rosso Veneno is a dark red metallic tint that suits this car nicely, but just in case you would like to opt for another color the factory is open to your ideas … a Bianco Canopus perhaps, or a Nero Nemesis … why not a Verde Ithaca or Arancio Argos … you name it, Lamborghini will build it … for a nice 10% premium over the closed version.

At Euro 3,300,000 each without taxes the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster will remain a dream for most of us, with only one unit of the Aventador J in existence and the three Veneno Coupé being delivered towards the end of 2013 this new Veneno Roadster will be most exclusive modern Lamborghini in the world today … keep in mind only 20 units of the Reventón were made and only 20 Sesto Elemento will be made (which isn’t street legal by the way) the closest ‘Bull’ to compare to this open top Veneno is the Reventón Roadster with a mere 15 units made … the Veneno Roadster will be a rare sight on the open road I guess.

That is why I’ve taken some time to create a few virtual ‘shades’ on the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster, each time showing a nice side view and a high angle rear view you can now admire this amazing car in shades like Nero, Arancio, Giallo, Verde, Viola Ophelia, Blu Celeste, Grigio, Rosso … I even made a custom ‘rainbow’ painted one and installed ADV.1 wheels on a 50th Gold finshed Veneno Roadster.

Just because the original Veneno came in a shade called ‘Metaluro’ and it showed a beautiful TriColore striping along the edges of the door (often imitated on the Aventador and Gallardo after the unveil) I wanted to create a ‘His and Hers’ combination with a Veneno Roadster boasting the same configuration.

Now at that moment the first customer production unit of the Lamborghini Veneno was just being seen on the production line in Sant’Agata and nobody ever mentioned a Roadster version in public before so was this a hoax or was Automobili Lamborghini SpA thinking about chopping the roof from their multi million Euro Veneno which would make sense as they did the same thing with Reventòn years ago.

It didn’t take too long to get an official confirmation this time only two weeks after the first rumor came up Stephan Winkelmann revealed plans for a new limited edition model from Lamborghini in an interview a Veneno Roadster was in the pipeline, but no clues were given on how it would be styled would it be an Aventador Roadster with the Veneno aerodynamics added to it or would it get a bespoke styling only time would tell.

Fast forward to late October 2013 an official press release gets send out and official press photos (well, high end 3D renders in fact) get published all over the internet three photos were all that was available initially, but later on a few more images got published on the official Lamborghini press site depicting a bright red metallic, totally roofless Lamborghini Veneno.

Price of Lamborghini Veneno Roadster

Some figures were already known from the interview Mr Winkelmann gave mid-August only nine Veneno Roadster will be built during 2014, each priced at €3,300,000 (about USD 4,500,000) they will use the same engine as the original Veneno, a 6.5 Liter V12 with 750 hp that will offer an acceleration from 0 to 100 Km/h in 2.9 seconds and keeps going up to a top speed of 355 Km/h (221 Mph).

Still four wheel drive like the Aventador and the Veneno before, a single clutch, ultra-fast ISR gearbox inside a race style chassis and suspension setup offers an amazing experience behind the steering wheels of what Lamborghini calls their ‘street legal racing prototype’.

Interior & Exterior

The entire styling of the Lamborghini Veneno was already reminiscent of a LeMans race car, and nothing of this animal style Racing Bull was lost converting it into a Roadster, the rear fenders still have a black seperation that still references racing while the massive rear wing, which is totally adjustable is a result of experience gained on the track even the impressive air intake on the roof of the Veneno has been transplanted onto the Roadster design.

These first shots show the Roadster in the new Rosso Veneno shade that has been mixed specifically for this model, it looks like the shade used on the one of a kind Aventador J back in 2012 but it seems to have even more metallic flakes in it, making it shimmer in direct sunlight much like the Giallo Maggio shade on the Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversary edition each of the nice customers will however be able to specify his own personal paint finish on his, or her Lamborghini Veneno Roadster.

From the side we can clearly see the side windows are cut down versions of the regular units in fact the clear carbon fiber roll over sections behind the two seats look similar to the ones used on the Aventador J and the Veneno Roadster has one more thing in common with this unique ‘Jota’ there is no roof available. That’s right, the Veneno Roadster doesn’t come with any kind of roof option I guess you’ll be wearing a helmet instead.

The wheels on the Veneno Roadster offer the same ‘turbine’ style as the ones on the original Veneno, no need to change something that works I guess, they are bespoke to the Veneno series anyway, so why not put them on nine more units.

Thanks to a monocoque in carbon-fiber reinforced polymer and exterior panels made from CFRP the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster comes in with a dry weight of only 1490kg, that is 40kg lighter than the closed Veneno and a massive 235 kg loss of weight compared to an Aventador Roadster this should result in some serious difference in performance between the two open top Raging Bull. To keep it all safe the Veneno Roadster offers various safety systems from airbags through to the modified ESP handling system.

Inside the Veneno Roadster we get two seats made from the patented Forged Composite material, with their backs finished in bright red the fronts get covered in another Lamborghini patented material Carbon Skin, which is also mounted on various other parts of the interior, however most of the visible parts inside are showing their carbon fiber weave the central console again houses three switches covered with the Italian TriColore shades just like inside the original Veneno.

If our information is correct there are still a few units of the nine Veneno Roadster available so don’t wait too long and get your order for this brand new, 3,300,000 Euro hyper exotic on the books.

Every major car website and online magazine has been going wild over three brand new photos that have surfaced recently … they show a metallic red Lamborghini Veneno Roadster and actually look like official press images.

So has Automobili Lamborghini SpA finally published pictures of their highly limited open top evolution of the Veneno LP750-4 … or have these renders fooled us all into thinking they are official material … whichever it turns out to be I for one have to admit the car in these photos does look extremely nice.

UK based Car Magazine actually published some specifications on the Veneno LP750-4 Roadster, they state the open top edition will cost €3,300,000 (USD 4,400,000)  before taxes and will only be built 9 times, now we already heard that when Stephan Winkelmann confirmed the Veneno Roadster back in August.

Power output has remained the same from the Veneno LP750-4 … I guess 750 hp should be enough to keep your hair flowing nicely … still the famous V12 engine with a 6.5 liter displacement puts power to all four wheels through a single clutch ISR gearbox … Lamborghini preferred the single clutch system over a double clutch unit for the faster gear shifts and the lightweight construction.

Acceleration figures of 2.9 seconds from 0 to 100 Km/h and a top speed of 355 Km/h ( 221 Mph) are identical to the Veneno LP750-4 Coupé version … the Roadster evolution does have a modified stability control system making it outperform the closed roof sister.

From the top shot showing the interior we can see the carbon fiber is left visible for most parts of the Veneno Roadster, however the seats do show a color coded backrest while the rest of the upholstery is the Lamborghini trademarked Carbon Skin material … the buttons on the central console still have the TriColore shades … just like inside the Veneno Coupé.

Back to the exterior … seems like most of the bodywork remained the same between the Coupé and the Roadster, also the wheels look identical … the big difference is the engine cover and the absence of a roof section.

In fact upon closer inspection the two carbon fiber ‘roll over’ protection pods looks rather similar to the ones seen on the Aventador J … which would also imply there is no roof available on the Veneno Roadster … will it again be an open top only model like the Aventador J?

I guess this will be the closest most of us will ever be to actually driving the Lamborghini Veneno, and if this doesn’t wet your apetite enough let me give you a list of other Raging Bull that are featured in Need for Speed Rivals: the Aventador LP700-4 and the Gallardo LP560-4 … which from another video posted looks like the Nuova edition with the new front and rear bumpers … somehow I would have loved to have seen the Sesto Elemento again and perhaps even the Aventador J … but those could be added later on as ‘extension packs’ I hope.

When I was researching this article I actually found something really interesting published by IGN … they published an entire list of cars that would be included in Need for Speed Rivals which is hinted as being ‘leaked’ by an actual employee over at Ghost Games, the developers behind this new NFS title … and one entry on the ‘Police cars’ list stood out at once … they list a Lamborghini Aventador LP800-4 SV!

A Lamborghini Aventador LP800-4 SV doesn’t even exist yet, I know a lot has been written about a Super Veloce edition of the Aventador, but with the Aventador J and recently the Veneno being unveiled I would find it hard to believe an LP800-4 Super Veloce is just around the corner … the Aventador LP700-4 Roadster has just been released and they can’t even keep up with production as it is … the waiting list is 18 months when you order a new Aventador … adding a Super Veloce edition so soon in the production cycle with the order book bursting at the seams already just doesn’t sound round if you ask me.

Keeping in mind Need for Speed Rivals will be released on November 19. 2013 … so there is still time for Automobili Lamborghini SpA to confirm an Aventador LP800-4 SV … that could mean we could see it at the IAA show in Frankfurt in mid-September I guess. However, officially the new Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse will be the ‘showcar’ for this edition of the IAA, and also remember actual production of 9 units of the Veneno Roadster has been confirmed too, so we might be getting a glimpse of that one in Frankfurt.

To make things even worse the Gallardo successor is due to be shown very soon too, probably not at the IAA in a few weeks but most likely at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show according to most sources … still there is a catch with that date in fact … remember the article on the 2015 Super Trofeo Race car … it states the entire 2014 Blancpain Super Trofeo championship will be using the current car, based on the Gallardo while the 2015 season will get a brand new model based on the Gallardo successor … so the new V10, which might be called Cabrera will have to be shown at the 2014 Paris motor show at the latest … so there just isn’t a major car show slot available to release an Aventador LP800-4 Super Veloce before Geneva 2015.

So is this list of Need for Speed Rivals cars a hoax or a real ‘leak’ … only time will tell, but I’m sure Ghost Games will not be allowed to release a game featuring a Lamborghini that will only be released months if not years later … I hope they do, but I don’t think we’ll be able to drive an Aventador Super Veloce in this edition of Need for Speed … still just for fun I did create a mockup of the LP800-4 SV chasing the Veneno …

In an interview with Stephan Winkelmann he confirmed the production of 9 units of a Veneno Roadster to Car and Driver … just what we had in mind already. How the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster will look isn’t sure yet, it might just be an Aventador Roadster style roof fitted onto the impressive Veneno bodywork … but why not go all the way and make it look like a Veneno Jota…

Whatever route Automobili Lamborghini Spa will take with the styling on the Veneno Roadster I’m sure it will look absolutely stunning … and can only hope we’ll see it in Frankfurt in a few weeks, however a small detail showed up in the Car and Driver article: “the car may never be shown to the public”!?

Car and Driver did get some additional information on the Veneno Roadster, for one the engine and transmission will be taken directly from the Veneno LP750-4, so no power upgrade or changes there but a 10% premium over the closed version … price has been set at 3.3 million Euro, that is USD 4,400,000 at the current exchange rate.

So have all nine units have been sold already? I honestly don’t know, but it might be the case … is a Veneno Roadster worth this kind of money being built 9 times compared to the original Veneno being built only 3 times … with looks like this and a price at this level who cares … you don’t buy a Veneno or a Veneno Roadster as a daily driver anyway … you buy it with your heart and for the sheer passion of it.

The idea of an open top Lamborghini Veneno got me thinking … I have actually seen the Veneno at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, and it looks even more impressive in real life than it does in photos, this is one of those intricate designs you have to admire face to face.

Being so totally different to anything we’ve seen before, more radical than any Lamborghini before it, the Veneno is the fastest production Lamborghini ever … so just putting the regular Aventador Roadster roof construction on a car like this wouldn’t feel right I think.

I think combining the style of the race inspired Veneno with the unique styling of the Aventador J would be a much better idea … the J does have a racing background too, so the two are a match made in heaven … and it looks so much better too … meet the Lamborghini Veneno J … mockup … comes with two color coded helmets …

Will this ever see production, even if it will be only 9 units? Somehow I don’t think so, but it sure looks nice and it is always good to dream about cars like this … after all a Lamborghini is and will always be a dream car …

And there is a second reason … the price, note that the Lamborghini Veneno was available for a rather hefty 3,000,000 Euro before taxes, that isn’t the kind of money most of us have available to invest into a single car, which let’s face it wouldn’t be your daily driver in the end … getting your groceries in a Veneno might not be the most practical option either … would be very impressive on the parking lot however.

So now what you might ask … well get the next best thing … for a lot less money too …

Famous MR Collection has always been one of the first scale car builders to release the latest Lamborghini models, and the Veneno in large 1/18 scale is now available in the original grey metallic shade called ‘Metalluro’ … and judging from these photos it looks absolutely amazing too.

Sure we are talking about a limited edition too, but with only 3 Veneno in real life this MR model is available in more units, and at a more modest price level too … only downside: it is naturally a lot smaller too, and you can’t really drive it … but you can admire it sitting on your desk all day.

And just in case you don’t like this shade, MR offers several other options like Bianco Monocerus, Verde Ithaca and Rosso Mars … the three shades in the TriColore … or go for something really wild like Giallo Maggio, Nero Nemesis or Arancio Argos … sure the Lamborghini Veneno does not exist in all these shades, but it is always nice to dream no?

And now we read on Teamspeed there is another big surprise around the corner … Automobili Lamborghini SpA has its vast worldwide dealer network contacting the top end of their local customer base with a rather special question … “Would you be interested in buying a Veneno Roadster?”.

The next day an article on CARS UK talks about exactly the same thing … a limited production run of a Lamborghini Veneno Roadster … only 9 to be built and priced over USD 4,000,000 each the idea of owning an open top version of the most impressive car Lamborghini ever built might not be so far fetched in the end.

Why did Lamborghini build the Veneno in the first place? To showcase just what they could do when the design department didn’t have to care about the usual practicalities … the Veneno is a showcase of the carbon fiber knowledge Lamborghini gathered while developing the Aventador … in a way the street version of the Veneno, because lets face it, sure the Veneno is street legal, but only barely if you ask me … this car looks more like a LeMans racer than a street super car.

So a Veneno is a hyper car capable of accelerations that would outshine some track cars and reach top speeds not too many other cars on the open road will ever see … hardly something you would use to cruise down the main street on a sunny afternoon … with the roof off, so why even consider a Veneno Roadster?

Well, why not? Remember the angular Reventón from late 2007, only 20 were built and all sold out almost as fast as the three Veneno units … two years later at the 2009 IAA show in Frankfurt Lamborghini showed the Reventón Roadster … the open top variant of the earlier model … so a Veneno Roadster wouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

Also take a look at some of the competition, didn’t Pagani pull a similar card out of his sleeve with the Zonda Cinque Roadster … only 5 built at USD1,800,000 each it only managed 678hp from a V12 and a top speed of 217mph … the Veneno Roadster would be at least USD4,000,000 but puts down 750hp from its V12 and reaches 220mph.

What did catch me a bit off guard was the fact they apparently intend to build 9 units of this open top Veneno … why? When you’ve sold only three close coupé models why would you decide to build nine Roadster versions … three of each shade this time perhaps?

So will the Gallardo Squadra Corse be the only ‘new’ model at the IAA in Frankfurt in a few weeks … or will we be seeing a Veneno Roadster take center stage … one thing is for sure … Frankfurt will not show the V10 successor.

Just in case you are wondering the grey metallic Veneno prototype that was shown in Geneva will remain the property of Automobili Lamborghini SpA while only three units were offered to the general public … two of them have been bought by avid enthusiasts from the United States of America while the third one was picked up by a long time Lamborghini owner from the Middle East … who happens to own a few other very special Raging Bull already.

So even if you happen to have some extra cash around you would not be able to add a Lamborghini Veneno to your collection of super cars … that’s why I came up with the next best thing … just imagine having a full tuning package that would make a regular Aventador look like a Veneno.

I’ve modified the front section so it could replace the factory bumper on an Aventador, I specifically didn’t go for the vertical headlights however, that would mean you have to replace the fenders too, and on the other hand not everybody really liked the Veneno headlight design anyway.

On the side I created a sill that takes some design elements from Veneno unit but still integrates onto the standard Aventador side sill, again to make it more cost effective … however at the rear I went all the way, the diffuser and rear section I’ve designed along the lines of the Veneno completely replaces the original part, much like the DMC Spezial Version rear does.

One other thing that just had to be put onto this virtual Aventador Veneno lookalike was that massive rear wing … again I specifically didn’t add the vertical fin in the middle as that would make the engine cover rather difficult to open (it takes four people to lift the engine cover on the real Veneno by the way) so I went for a massive F1 style wing that still reminds us of the Veneno unit, but leaves the engine cover opening method in place.

If you really want to go all the way it would mean getting hold of some new wheels that again look like the ones used on the Veneno, center lock with special rims that draw in even more air to cool those massive Carbon Ceramic disk brakes.

One of the lucky owners located in the United States actually had his current Aventador wrapped in a very special style by Detailing Dynamics even before he had seen the Veneno he bought … and it looked inspired by it … great minds think alike I guess … so I went one step further and applied that wrap onto an Aventador Roadster and installed the entire Veneno style kit on it … and it looks absolutely amazing.

Also the color was already determined beforehand, making the choice a lot easier for the potential customer, the Lamborghini Veneno will be built in green, white and red … just like the Italian TriColore flag … while the Geneva Show car was finished in a timid grey metallic shade.

For all those people that didn’t get the opportunity to park this very special limited edition Lamborghini Veneno in their garage renowned MR Collection is offering the next best thing … a highly detailed 1/18 scale model of this Raging Bull.

For one this scale model will be a lot less expensive to acquire while it still be a numbered, limited edition model complete with certificate … on the other hand you will not be able to drive it … these sealed resin models are for display purpose only, but still you are able to admire it on your desk while working … or in your living room display, although some Lamborghini owners are also able to admire their actual car from their living room, but that’s another story.

And there is more … not only will MR Collection release their 1/18 scale model in grey metallic, Verde Ithaca, Bianco Monocerus and Rosso Mars … but also in Nero Nemesis (where have you seen that one before … oh yes, right here) and in Arancio Argos (the by now classic shade on the Aventador LP700-4) … but also in yellow metallic, and judging from the color samples MR published this yellow could very well be the Giallo Maggio shade developed for the Aventador LP720-4 50° Anniversario.

Just to wet your appetite I’ve put together a virtual mockup of a yellow metallic Lamborghini Veneno, and combined with the clear carbon fiber and red touches I have to admit it doesn’t look too bad … one thing I am very interested in seeing is how the shades will be applied to the Veneno by MR, rumor has it all three customer cars will be grey metallic and only the green, white and red shade will be used on the sections where the Geneva Show car had the TriColore decal … while others mention the entire car will be painted … much like the renders I’ve made earlier.

Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and Director of Automobili Lamborghini SpA proudly unveiled the very impressive looking Veneno super car … an over the top evolution of the Aventador LP700-4 turning the already very potent street car into a true race car … while remaining street legal the Veneno shows a styling that is as close to an endurance race car as possible, by uprating the engine to 750hp the performance took a boost too, making this the fastest Lamborghini ever made.

Only slight problem … the Veneno is priced at 3 million Euro … without taxes … and to make things even worse only three will be built, and by the time we managed to see the car in Geneva all three were already sold … unseen!

Two of the Lamborghini Veneno units were picked up by residents of the United States, Antoine Dominic and Kris Singh managed to secure two of the car while the third one was bought by someone from the Middle East who asked to remain anonymous … but apparently is the same person that also bought the Aventador J in 2012 … and owns a Reventon Roadster too, a real Lamborghini enthusiast I would say.

With only three cars in the entire world … well that would be four in fact as this grey metallic Lamborghini Veneno remains property of the factory, it is not for sale, chances of seeing one in real life, and I mean outside of a closed stand at some major car show, are slim to non existant I would say … until you visit the Lamborghini VIP Village at the Super Trofeo race paddock, like last weekend (April 13-14) in Monza where everybody could admire the Veneno in plain daylight.

Sure it was fenced to keep the more eager members of the public away, but still it was the first time the general public was able to admire the rare Lamborghini Veneno out in the open air, I’m sure the sunlight resulted in some really amazing reflections on that grey metallic bodywork with all those air intakes, outlets, wings and clear carbon fiber … the Veneno will never cease to impress.

I had the super-rare opportunity to film 4.5 million US dollars Lamborghini Veneno powered by a 6.5 liter V12 engine that produces 750hp.

In this video you can see at the beginning some exterior and interior shots of the car, then you can hear its noisy V12 engine starting up and revving while being loaded on a truck!

The three customer cars will all have a bespoke and unique shade each, and will not receive the TriColore stripe on the side … instead the entire bodywork will receive one of the three shades found on the Italian flag. So there will be a Veneno Verde, a Veneno Bianco and finally a Veneno Rosso … and despite a price tag of €3,000,000 without taxes all three Bulls were sold … unseen.

Things did get rather hectic for the three lucky people receiving their very own Lamborghini Veneno later this year, they all had to transfer a serious down payment into the Lamborghini corporate account in a very narrow window of opportunity … only three cars were available, and the rather high asking price didn’t frighten wealthy enthusiasts away … Lamborghini could easily have sold 10 units, so if you didn’t manage to get the paperwork done in time and have the funds in the Lamborghini account your Veneno would pass onto the next guy.

In the end we heard one of the Lamborghini Veneno will be joining the Aventador J from the 2012 Geneva Auto Show as it has been bought by the same long term Lamborghini enthusiast (he also owns one of the rare Reventon Roadster by the way), a second Lamborghini Veneno will be shown in the Lamborghini Long Island showroom as owner Antoine Dominic managed to get hold of one of two Lamborghini Veneno going to the United States, the second being snapped up by Kris Singh, Managing Director of Florida based Tequesta Investments.

Things do tend to get even more interesting if you take a look at the cars Antoine Dominic owned in the past … a Ferrari F40 … a Ferrari F50 and even a Ferrari Enzo, but now he passed on the LaFerrari to get the most powerful and most expensive Lamborghini ever made, the LP750-4 Veneno.

On the other hand we have Kris Singh, who actually had a St Louis car dealer make the deal with Automobili Lamborghini SpA to buy the last Veneno available, Ryan Dohogne, general sales manager at STL Motorcars in Chesterfield had to cross all the T’s and dot all the I’s to put together the deal of a lifetime, neither Ryan nor Kris had even seen a rendering or received any specs before they transferred a large amount of money into the Lamborghini account … and after flying to Geneva in a private jet and passing some nerve wrecking hours they received the go-ahead from Lamborghini … the third and final Veneno had been sold.

All the Lamborghini Veneno will be delivered later this year, and while one will be shown in a dealership in the United States, a second being driven scarcely by its Middle Eastern owner the third one owned by Kris Singh will actually be driven in Florida … so expect a nice spot later this year of one of the most impressive Lamborghini ever built.

It might not be the rumored front engine V12 two door GT model that was talked about, nor the actual 50th Anniversary edition model to celebrate the founding of Automobili Lamborghini SpA back in 1963, and even less the long awaited Gallardo replacement none of these rumors turned out to be anywhere close to the truth. As usual Lamborghini managed to keep this completely unexpected model a secret until about 36 hours before it would be ‘unwrapped’ at the Geneva Auto Show suddenly a hazy magazine scan leaked onto the internet showing a very sharp, unexpected design for a totally different Lamborghini, and they even published the name: Veneno.

The Lamborghini Veneno (which is Spanish for poison by the way) is a perfect ‘anti-venom’ to the many rumors that have been going around on the web in the weeks prior to the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, which this time had a lot of high profile, exotic super cars trying to get into the spotlight, both from the carmakers themselves and from tuners like Mansory and as impressive as the likes from Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche were none could even hold a candle to this Lamborghini Veneno!

Lets take a look at some specs: the Lamborghini Veneno takes the chassis from the amazing handling Aventador LP700-4, and you might even recognize the doors and roofline of the base car (the entire monocoque is most likely used to avoid a new homologation) but I guess that is where the similarities end and the Veneno takes over.  

Performance

The 6.5 liter V12 engine for the Veneno has been tuned up to 750hp, so I guess we could be talking about a Veneno LP750-4 as power still travels to all four wheels, which in this case receive stunning central locking bolts, are 20 inch up front and 21 inch at the back, and get a totally new design featuring a carbon fiber ring that acts like a turbine pulling much needed air onto the brakes, who need them when you are traveling at the top speed of 355 Km/h in the Veneno just in case you are wondering about it from 0 to 100Km/h takes only 2.8 seconds that is race car territory, and with a seven speed ISR manual gearbox you just know this Bull means business.

Lamborghini Veneno Exterior Design

The Geneva show car is finished in a special metallic grey shade combined with clear carbon fiber and features an amazing looking ‘TriColore’ stripe running from the front over the doors into the massive, wide rear air intake however only three of these Lamborghini Veneno units will be built. One to be finished in red, a second one in white and the third one in green which happen to be the three shades used on the Italian flag mind you so what about this grey car then?

This is the development and test car, which isn’t for sale most likely it will spend the remainder of its life on display at the factory museum in Sant’Agata after it has been transported around the world to various events held this year celebrating the 50th Anniversary. However rumor has it the Veneno production number 0 (Zero) will be used for further development of Lamborghini’s know how in the carbon fiber fabrication process.

We already knew Lamborghini was intending to show their most powerful production model ever at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, and the Veneno is just that not only does the 6.5 liter V12 engine deliver a staggering 750hp to reach 100km/h from standing still in a mere 2.8 seconds but this new Raging Bull doesn’t get out of breath before reaching a top speed of 355 Km/h (220 Mph). All thanks to a very intricate design to enhance the aerodynamic the Veneno would feel right at home on the race track but it is still fully street legal, a perfect combination obtained by using lots of carbon fiber for the sharp and angular new design that has the entire car acting like an aerofoil, pushing down when you need the extra traction.

Up front we might recognize influences from the Sesto Elemento, the very sharp nose and large air vents in front of the windshield do bring back memories of the Sesto Elemento, a far forward stretching front spoiler receives a thin line of red paint to mimic a menacing look, just at the bottom of the fender we find a small air intake while the side of the front bumper receives vertical fins to improve stabilty naturally all finished in clear carbon fiber.

The headlights on the ‘hair splitting’ fenders are pulled a long way down to the low front spoiler while also being carved backward into the fenders if you look closely you immediately recognize the by now typical ‘Y’ shape headlights seen on both the current Gallardo and Aventador. The fender doesn’t meet the door but creates a large ‘gap’ between them, just like on a race car while a wide lower side sill connects the front wheels to the rear ones where a low mounted air outlet makes its appearance just ahead of the rear wheels.

The entire lower section of the Lamborghini Veneno shows a clear carbon fiber finish while the upper section receives some perfectly applied paint over the carbon fiber bodywork just take a look at that upward sweeping section holding the large side air intake behind the still upward opening doors, needed to cool the engine down, it doesn’t go flush between the rear fender and the engine cover but creates a ‘tunnel’ between them, again using clear carbon fiber for the most impressive visual impact ever.

Which brings us to a very large rear wing with fixed upright struts at either side while the horizontal fin between them is adjustable to get just the right amount of down-force you want when taking this lady out onto the circuit during one of those high speed track events one more thing to set apart the Veneno from everything else it might encounter on the open road is the roof mounted air intake that ‘flows’ into an additional vertical fin of the rear wing, something we’ve also seen on the Audi R18 race car and that actually helps to improve stability in fast corners experience gained from motorsports.

One more design detail can be found on the wheel arches these aren’t round like you would expect, but instead use a design we’ve previously seen on the Countach and Diablo after all we are talking about a car that is unveiled during the year celebrating 50 years of exotic super cars the Countach and Diablo are a major part of the history of the Raging Bull together with the Miura that actually paved the way that would lead up to the Lamborghini Veneno.

At the rear we get a triangular styled mid section similar to the one on the Sesto Elemento with Aventador style grilles on the extremities, stunning Y-shape taillights almost run from left to right while the lower diffuser looks like it came straight from a race car all in all a very intimidating rear section, even more so by the use of sharply styled fins on the engine cover creating an almost animal like style you can almost hear the Bull roar just from looking at the photos by the way, Veneno not only translates from Spanish into poison, but it was also the name of a ferocious bull from the Spanish bullfighting arena back in 1914 in Andalusia.

So the Lamborghini Veneno looks mangnificent on the outside, but what about the interior? Does it follow suit or not well it does, and how. The seats are made from Forged Composite, a Lamborghini patent, with padding covered in Carbon Skin, another Lamborghini patent that’s actually an upholstery made from carbon fiber soaked in resin to create a leather like material very high end, and extremely impressive inside the Lamborghini Veneno a similar setup was used on the Aventador J last year mind you.

The Lamborghini Veneno has a carbon fiber monocoque and sections of this chassis are visible on the central console and the sills, very nice and it just oozes race feeling from every angle, while the headliner and dashboard are covered in Carbon Skin mind you as much as the Veneno is a race car with a street license it still offers all safety measures to keep the driver and lucky passenger safe with airbags and ESP for instance.

At first glance the dashboard cluster may look like an Aventador unit, but take a closer look and you’ll see the graphics are totally different, much more aggressive and Lamborghini even installed a G-Force indicator how cool is that? With all the special ‘gadgets’ inside like a triplet of switches on the central console hidden from view beneath three covers finished in the TriColore shades the Veneno still puts 125Kgs less on the scales compared to the already lightweight Aventador, the result is a power to weight ratio of 1.93kg/hp you just have to experience the Veneno at least once in your lifetime, it will be mind-blowing, trust me.

The Verdict

Once again Automobili Lamborghini SpA didn’t disappoint at the 2013 Geneva Auto Show, this extremely intimidating Veneno took the spotlight from the day the doors opened and kept drawing most of the attention during the entire show most likely the most featured cover car of this year the Lamborghini Veneno, always different always Lamborghini the Bull certainly roars again!

In case you are now looking for your wallet don’t even bother, the Lamborghini Veneno has an MSRP (suggested retail price) of €3 million without taxes, which can hardly be called a bargain but keep in mind this is the ultimate showcase of Lamborghini’s carbon fiber manufacturing skills, only three will ever leave the factory gates and these are even more exclusive as all three will be finished in a different shade unfortunately the Veneno is already sold out!
