At this very moment several Automobili Lamborghini Spa test drivers are putting some hard kilometers on what is to become the latest evolution of the Lamborghini flagship, the Murciélago.

Currently the V12 super car boasts 580 Bhp, but with the Gallardo at 500 Bhp (and probably 520 for the 2006 MY) the gap between the ‘entry’ model and the flagship was judged too small, therefore a more powerful Murciélago is being tested right now.

With an increase in displacement of 300c up to a massive 6.5 Liter, power output was measured at nearly 650 Bhp, with a matching torque of 516 Lbs. Ft. (from 479 Lbs. Ft. on the current model).

Some sources state this more powerful Murciélago would be introduced as the GT model, with a revised front spoiler and rear diffuser, but it could very well be these are the specs for the MY 2006 Murciélago, what is certain is that there are some mild redesigns foreseen for next years model, especially concerning the front spoiler and the air intakes on the side of the car, probably even some new design for the wheels could be presented, although the Roadster wheels do look stunning on the Murciélago. However, some owners reacted to the fact that the Gallardo uses 19 inch wheels while the flagship is receiving ‘only’ 18 inch models, but there isn’t any confirmation the V12 will also be using 19 inch alloy in the near future.

I would imagine that a Murciélago GT would be a much more aggressive looking car, like the Diablo GT in the Nineties, so possibly the ‘SV’ suffix could be more in line with the increase in power and the mild redesign … we’ll have to wait and see what Sant’Agata will use to compete against Ferrari’s Enzo.
