The second Owner 

By 1992, the Countach had been acquired by its second recorded Owner, who promptly installed a sports exhaust system. In July 1993, with the odometer reading 14,109 kilometers, the carburetors underwent repairs, and several ignition parts were replaced. The Lamborghini remained in the United Kingdom for its initial two decades, as confirmed by multiple MoT certificates spanning from 1998 to 2011.

Though the speedometer displays miles and kilometers, the odometer has a surprisingly low reading of approximately 19,200 kilometers (11,930 miles). It has passed through a series of hands, each Owner adding their personal touch. Notably, in 1992, its then-owner amplified its roar with a sports exhaust.

The 2021 Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini is a limited-edition marvel, with only 630 units hitting the streets. The motorcycle sports Sian-inspired forged wheels with a unique greenish-gold color scheme, a generous application of carbon fiber, and the symbolic “63” emblems (under the fuel tank on both sides). Each detail pays homage to the 2020 Lamborghini Sián FKP 37, an 802-horsepower electrified beast that took its roots from the Lamborghini Aventador.

As standard fitment, the Murciélago Superveloce came with a ‘duck tail’ rear wing, the ‘low’ wing option, but most of these SVs were ordered with the higher rear wing, finished in visible carbon fiber, riding on some of the most stylish struts ever seen on a road car, and while everyone imagined this ‘Super Speed’ version of the Murciélago would attract a lot of buyers, things turned out differently, being unveiled in 2009, most of these were to be built on the Linea Murciélago at Sant’Agata during 2010, but the rumor of the successor, which would become the Aventador that was introduced in 2011, apparently held many customers back to put in an order for the Murciélago swansong model, so in the end, the 350 units never sold out, most sources mention 186 units in total, while other sources list just over 250 units to be sold … whichever is the case, it’s clear that the Murciélago LP670-4 Superveloce is the rarest, most sought-after, model today, with prices heading over seven figures in a hurry, and that’s for the E-Gear models, a manual Murciélago Super Veloce is worth a whole lot more, as only a handfull of those were built, E-Gear was a no-cost option on the Superveloce.

This brings us to chassis ZHWBU8AH8ALA04002, a 2010 US-Spec Murciélago LP670-4 Superveloce, originally sold by Prestige Imports in Miami, the base MSRP on this car was $450,000 at the time, but this specific one, nr 240/350, came with some interesting options, like an Ad Personam interior at $2,800, a perforated steering wheel at $780, the rear view camera which was a $4,350 option you hardly could live without. Up next another $4,900 for the navigation system, $4,900 for the Superveloce carbon package, those yellow calipers behind the glossy black wheels, that’s another $920 please … and that massive, but so beautiful rear wing, well, that’s a $7,000 option too, and while they had to add the GGT ($5,400) and Destination Charge ($2,995), those prices are dwarfed by this last option … this is the one and only Lamborghini Murciélago Superveloce finished in Rosso Andromeda in the world, which was a $14,000 option back in 2010, making this a half a million Bull, $498,045 to be exact.

This beautiful red Murciélago Superveloce was enjoyed by her owner when in 2015 the car was involved in a front-end collision, complete with airbag deployment, sadly this meant the car ended up in a Copart auction, during her stay on the lot someone stole the seats, interior components, and that $7,000 rear wing, the wreck ended up in Europe where she was rebuilt, with factory original parts no less, but once again the records at the factory deemed to be not so great as they sent out a plaque stating 257/350 to fit between the seats, while this was car 240/350, note that the rumor goes customers could actually ask for a specific number to be put on this plaque, xxx/350, as long as it hadn’t been sent out already, so the number 257 isn’t the total production, and number 35/350, for instance, might have been built after number 63/350 for instance, the numbers weren’t even distributed in chronological order.

In late 2021, this unique Lamborghini Murciélago Superveloce was bought by famous YouTube star Ed Bolian (from VinWiki) from a dealer in Germany, being the 8th Murciélago Ed owned, he added about 900 miles onto the odometer which now reads about 8,000 miles, and while many Murciélago display the dreaded ‘Check Engine’ light, this Superveloce doesn’t, however, there seems to be an issue with the TPMS calibration at the time of writing, Ed had a full service performed on this car, during which his local mechanic only noticed some minor overspray on suspension components, which was the only telltale the car ever was involved in an accident and subsequent repair … so it seems this Superveloce was brought back to factory specs really well.

Right now, this one-of-a-kind Lamborghini Murciélago Superveloce is offered for sale by Ed Bolian himself, he’s moving onto a different, high-dollar car so Ed has to say goodbye to this red lady, with an asking price of just $825,000, which is considerably below the usual $1,100,000 to $1,500,000 prices asked for other cars, this one is set low enough to move, even with the accident history. Just as a comparison, at the time of writing, renowned Cats Exotics has two Murciélago Superveloce listed, one finished in Grigio Telesto with 13,915 miles, listed at $1,100,000, and another one in the absolutely stunning Nero Nemesis, matt black, with just 8,698 miles, listed at $1,150,000, both well beyond the $825,000 Ed is asking.

Between 1966 and 1969 a total of 275 Miura P400 would be made before the Miura S was introduced to be built between 1969 and 1971, production reached 140 units … and then it was time for the ultimate Lamborghini Miura, the SV or Spinto Veloce, the most sought-after Miura these days (apart from the original Miura Roadster or the Miura Jota recreation perhaps), only 150 units of the Miura SV were built between 1971 and 1972, the production of the Miura SV was halted after little over a year to be replaced by the amazing Lamborghini Countach.

Today a Miura SV in perfect condition is a very expensive car to buy, but a specific 1971 Lamborghini Miura built on special order for French industrialist Jacques Dembiermont just set a sky-high new record when she sold at the Gooding&Company Passion of a lifetime auction on September 5 at Hampton Court Palace … with an estimate between £1.600.000 and £2.000.000 (that’s €1.800.000-€2.250.000 or $2.125.000-$2.656.000), this very special car reached a high bid of no less than £2.850.000 (€3.200.000 or $3.785.000) before fees, which are usually 10%, so we’re talking about a €3.5 million Miura.

So why is this specific 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV so valuable? Because it’s called an SV Speciale, which means this isn’t one of the standard Miura SV, this car was custom ordered with some very special options straight from the factory. Remember the famous Miura Jota, the car Bob Wallace built in his spare time as a pure-bred race car? Well, that car came with a dry sump lubrication and a ZF limited-slip differential, so when chassis 4878 with engine 30644 was ordered, Mr. Dembiermont wanted those on his Miura SV too.

In May 1971 this Oro Metallizzato Lamborghini Miura SV was ready for delivery, the original owner kept the car for about ten years before it was sold on but stayed in France, later this rare Miura SV Speciale would go to Norway and England … the last owner had the car completely restored by Carrozzeria Autosport and Top Motors before driving it on the open roads in Europe … today this is probably among the most important Miura SV in history, hence the record-setting sales price at auction.

At the same auction the very first production car Lamborghini started making in 1963 was also sold, a 1965 Lamborghini 350GT finished in a stunning dark blue body over a red leather interior, chassis 0226 with engine 0181 received an estimate between £400.000 and £550,000 but was eventually sold for £379,500 before fees (€426.000 or $504.000)

With prices on the Lamborghini Miura and Countach reaching never before seen heights, and the Diablo quickly following in their footsteps it might be a good idea to step into super car ownership with another V12 model in the history of Automobili Lamborghini SpA … the original Murciélago 6.2 liter model introduced in 2001.

Prices on these Bulls are still reasonable, and being ‘only’ little over ten years old you already enjoy some modern comforts neither of the predecessors could offer apart from the late model Diablo VT 6.0 … still the legendary V12 derived from the very first production Lamborghini, the 350GT, you might say the Murciélago was the last of the original Raging Bulls as the Aventador received a totally new V12 engine.

I know we all like the swansong of the Murciélago production, the aggressive looking LP670-4 Super Veloce of which only 186 were built, but if there is one other car built in the ten year production span of this model that is surely something special it is chassis number ZA9BC10E02LA12026 with engine number L535 033.

A very early production Murciélago, in fact the factory called her the ‘Pre Series 6’, this was the 26th car built … back in September 2001 she was still on the production line with the last units of the Diablo VT 6.0 SE in front of her. Note that this very Murciélago was kept by the factory to become the record beating Bull in early 2002.

On February 16. 2002, between 22:21 and 23:21 this yellow Lamborghini Murciélago would cover 305.041 km (189.543 miles) from a standing start with Giorgio Sanna behind the wheel, at an average speed of 320 km/h, she completed 22 laps on the 12.6 km Nardò Prototipo ring in Puglia … this would be record nr 1, the international one hour speed record for production cars with a non-turbo +6,000 cc engine.

But that was only the start, at the same time this standard, customer car managed to set two more international records, both from a standing start :
100 km were completed with an average speed of 320.023 km/h (198.853 mph) in 18:44.9 minutes
100 miles were completed at an average speed of 320.254 km/h (198.996 mph) in 30:09 minutes.

Even more impressive is the fact these three international records were obtained in less than perfect weather conditions, at the time there was a strong, south eastern wind rushing over the track, without the amazing high-speed stability, the four-wheel drive system and the skillful driving of Sanna this result would have been impossible … and the one hour record included a fuel stop too!

This was a demo car for the factory in Sant’Agata, so maintenance and service were executed right at the factory, there is no better place to get your Lamborghini serviced I guess … after the promotion and demo life was completed for Murciélago 12026 she was sold to a collector in Italy who enjoyed this amazing V12 a lot … by 2015 this very V12 had covered 117,500 km when she was put up for auction by famous RM Sotheby’s during their London event.

Lot 152 was offered on Monday, September 7. 2015 with an estimate between £120,000 and £160,000 … she would change hands after a winning bid of £95,200 (€130,553 or $146,290 at the currency conversion on September 7), so not really reaching her estimate, but still a very nice price for such an important car.

Note that at the same auction in London a 1981 Lamborghini Countach LP400S (chassis 1121296 – engine 1121198), lot 141, came in with an estimate between £245,000 and £315,000 and sold for £263,200 (€361,078 or $404,457), only just above her lower estimate … while a1958 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Competirione ‘Tour de France’ by Scaglietti sold for £4,760,000 at the same auction.

This means a piece of recent V12 history from Sant’Agata has been sold for less than $150,000 … but I’m sure this specific car will become much more valuable as time goes by.

Fast forward to March 2015 and Lamborghini reveals the Aventador LP750-4 Superveloce … again at the Geneva Auto Show, only this time they intend to build 600 units … which sold out in a matter of months, in fact an Aventador LP750-4 SV Roadster is now also available, limited at 500 units only … numbers that make the Murciélago LP670-4 Super Veloce even more exclusive … for every LP670-4 there are more than 3 LP750-4, and we’re not even counting the LP750-4 SV Roadster here … that would be nearly 6 Aventador SV for every single Murcielago SV.

With prices on the Aventador Superveloce on the market between €599,000 and €677,000 at this time it isn’t too far-fetched to see a bright yellow Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 Super Veloce being listed at €750,000 … even more so as this 05/2010 model only has 3,400 km on the counter, this five year old V12 is almost brand new.

Wearing number 269/350 this car has another major advantage over the competition … she looks like a perfect twin to the actual Lamborghini press car, and the one being shown at the Geneva Auto Show in 2010, complete with the yellow brake calipers, the optional ‘tall’ rear wing and the small SV script at the front of the door.

With those very limited production numbers of the Murciélago Super Veloce compared to the Aventado Superveloce I’m sure this 2010 model is a much better investment right now, so if you are looking to add a very wild looking Raging Bull to your garage, this SV might just be the one you’ve been waiting for.

Not too long ago most of the Raging Bulls that were built in Sant’Agata since 1963 didn’t require a massive amount of money to obtain if you didn’t have your heart set on a Miura for instance, those have always been expensive and over the last decade or so breached the 1 million USD mark with ease … and the successor to this amazing V12 Lamborghini is quickly keeping up.

Over the last year the Lamborghini Countach has made the highest jump in value of all cars being traded in 2014, with the original narrow body LP400 model taking the lead with prices well into the 6 figures range and going into the 1,000,000$ scene with ease for a perfect, original unit … but the much wilder LP400S is going to the same 7 figure value too with RM Auctions having a pristine 1979 Series I LP400S in Tahiti Blue (one of only 50 built in that series) listed with an estimate between $800,000 and $1,000,000 in their Arizona auction in January 2015.

However if you want to get your first Lamborghini Countach in your garage it might be a better idea to search a good, late Eighties model like the angular styled Quattrovalvole or the more refined looking 25th Anniversary edition … both of them left the factory in numbers larger than 600 units so they are easier to locate compared to only 150 original LP400 units, a mere 235 LP400S and 323 units of the more potent LP500S … which still seems to be more expensive compared to the later 25th Anniversary model, the least expensive Countach to park in your garage is in fact the final production version, the 25th Anniversary edition … might be because it isn’t as aggressive looking as the earlier Countach models, for the celebration version the overall styling became smoother, with side sills and different air intakes behind the side windows … many consider the Quattrovalvole to last of the real Countach while the 25th Anniversary was already hinting to the rounder, smoother Diablo styling.

In fact prices on the Lamborghini Countach have made a jump of no less than 175% in 2014 according to Hagerty, an insurer of collectible cars … that is almost tripple the amount of money these Eighties V12 Bulls were worth only a year earlier, finally Lamborghini is receiving the credit they deserve.

So if like me you had a stunning Lamborghini Countach as a bedroom poster back in the Eighties, and unlike me you actually made enough money to be able to afford a Countach today, don’t wait any longer … prices are only going up it seems, so if you want to become a Countach owner you will have to jump into one right now … if $800,000 or more than $1,000,000 is just a little too steep for you, don’t worry … at the same RM Auction in Arizona you can find a 1975 Lamborghini Urraco P111 with an estimate between $100,000 and $120,000.

If you really have your heart set on a V12 Bull the massive 1989 Lamborghini LM002 might be a good idea at $175,000 to $225,000, or the classic 1973 Lamborghini Espada offered with no reserve estimated between $125,000 and $175,000. Naturally the black 1988 Lamborghini Countach Quattrovalvole does attract a lot of attention, rolling on gold wheels with the 88/2 side sills the RM Auctions estimate is still between $400,000 to $600,000 … not exactly pocket change … but fear not, RM Auctions also has an extremely rare 1971 Lamborghini Miura SVJ on the list, finished in a very special red metallic paint this Miura was completely restored by Gary Bobileff in 2007 this chassis 4892 was in fact one of only a very few original Miura SVJ prepared by the factory themselves back in the days … naturally the estimate between $2,000,000 and $2,600,000 does reflect this exclusivity.

Another Miura, this time a 1970 Lamborghini Miura P400S finished in black gets a value between $1,000,000 and $1,400,000 on her head, she comes complete with factory air-conditioning and being a late S model the chassis already is the uprated SV model … add the stunning white leather interior and this is a very beautiful looking Miura.

So despite the Lamborghini Countach quickly gaining her place in the one million dollar cars gallery there are still other Raging Bull models that can be obtained for a more reasonable price while the legendary Miura creates an even larger gap between the other Lamborghini with prices well into the two million dollar region.
