While the Sterrato from Lamborghini features a V10 engine, for those seeking an even more powerful off-road supercar, abimelecdesign has created a concept rendering of the Lamborghini Countach All-Terrain V12 Supercar that takes things to the next level.
His idea proposes an all-terrain version of the classic Lamborghini Countach with a powerful V12 engine. It could redefine what we think of as a supercar.
The Legacy of Lamborghini’s All-Terrain Pursuits
The relationship between Lamborghini and off-road vehicles began in the late 1970s with the Lamborghini Cheetah. It was a prototype built for Mobility Technology International (MTI) that unintentionally resembled the FMC vehicle, a contender to replace the military jeep in military applications. Although Lamborghini initially faced legal and design issues, their ambition remained strong.
Fast forward to the ’80s, under the stewardship of the Mimran brothers, Lamborghini revisited its all-terrain ambitions with the LM001 and, later, the LMA002. The latter laid the groundwork for the legendary LM002 SUV, a marvel that housed the Countach’s V12 in an off-road capable frame.
The narrative took a modern twist when the Urus was introduced in 2018, blending Lamborghini’s racing DNA with the practicality of an SUV. The most recent chapter before the latest rendering was the Huracan Sterrato. Launched in February 2023 and slated for a limited production run, it represents Lamborghini’s last dance with non-hybrid technology.
The Wild Idea: Countach in Sterrato Flavor
Inspired by Lamborghini’s Sterrato, digital artist Abimelec Arellano reimagined the Countach, specifically the LP5000 S Quattrovalvole, for the all-terrain scene. This conceptualization envisions the supercar lifted by 1.75 inches, equipped with rugged steel wheels, and protected by matte-black fender flares, preparing it for any challenge nature might throw.
Interior modifications are minimal but meaningful. The addition of Fiat Panda 4×4-inspired pitch and roll gauges nods to the car’s off-road readiness. Mechanically, the most significant upgrade is the introduction of a permanent all-wheel-drive system, a stark departure from Lamborghini’s traditional setups in models like the Diablo VT and the Gallardo.
