When famous TopGear magazine had the bright idea to imagine the legendary Lamborghini Countach as a 21st century recreation, they turned to Envisage where a team of three designers, Mike Mills, Aadil Hafiz, and Jong Bean Kim started to work on a modern interpretation of a car that hasn’t been built for nearly 30 years now.
With little to go on apart from some photos of the Countach LP500 S, they each worked on their own design before combining them all into one final proposal, a design that clearly shows the original Countach design, but can be built on an Aventador chassis today.
Complete with those famous Lamborghini doors and that rear wing we all loved since the Eighties, they even managed to create a new wheel that looks absolutely amazing and is immediately recognizable as that five holes, telephone dial wheel we love on the Countach.
The rear is very, very smooth and comes with a set of LED taillights … and the obligatory set of four exhaust tips, so this new Countach still could come with the V12 engine, but I guess there will be some aid from electrical engines too making it a hybrid, because let’s face it, that’s the way to go for the Aventador successor too.
Up front, we recognize the Countach style, but now with thin LED strips as headlights, there are pods on the front fender that look like pop-up headlights, but I highly doubt a 2019 or 2020 model from Sant’Agata would come with anything other than fixed LED headlights.
On the side we find those irregular designed wheel arches and naturally a modern interpretation of the famous NACA ducts on the side, add a few Aventador S and Centenario style vents on the wheel arches, and we really could see this as a modern Countach evolution.
But this will remain a design study, I’m sure the car Lamborghini has been designing to become the Aventador successor will not look like this, but more likely a combination of Veneno, Centenario, and Terzo Millennio … perhaps with a hint of Countach and Miura added to the mix, that would really be an amazing tribute to those heritage cars …
