In 2011 Lamborghini unveiled the long-awaited successor to the Murciélago at the Geneva Motor Show, the Aventador took over the reign as the V12 flagship from Sant’Agata, it took four years for Lamborghini to release the SV or Superveloce edition a more track-oriented, limited edition version of the original LP700-4 model.

The Aventador Superveloce was limited to 600 units, but the SV Roadster would be even rarer with only 500 units then things changed when the Aventador S was released in 2017 as the facelift of the original 2011 model, and while in the Murciélago line-up the SV was the ultimate edition, for the Aventador range Lamborghini took a different route with the Aventador S being the new ‘base’ car it was just a matter of time before Lamborghini would take this one to the next level so they took the SV and created an even more intimidating model by adding the Jota suffix the Aventador SVJ was born in mid-2018.

It is clear the Aventador SVJ was an evolution of the SV, taking the improvements of the Aventador S and implementing them onto the Aventador SV to create an even more race-oriented edition, for the SVJ Coupe they would build 900 units, but once again the SVJ Roadster would be made rarer by building only 800 units a little more than the Aventador SV, but back in 2015 the available cars sold out very quickly and the SVJ followed the same path all 1,500 units sold out quickly too.

Performance

All those things that made the Aventador SVJ special, like the four-wheel steering and the innovative ALA 2.0 were now available in Roadster form, and let’s not forget the Aventador SVJ coupé took the record at the Nürburgring in Germany for the fastest production model, naturally the Roadster would be a little slower because it’s 50kg heavier, but rest assured this is still an extremely fast car to drive, either with or without the carbon fiber roof panels in place.

Power comes from the world-famous, naturally aspirated V12 engine pumping out 770 hp at 8,50 rpm, this results in acceleration figures of only 2.9 seconds to 100 km/h and a top speed well over 350 Km/h, add the ALA with it’s electronic motors in the front spoiler and rear wing, and you get a very stable, high-performance supercar made in Sant’Agata, the official press release even states: ‘Airflow over the roof is uninterrupted whether roof is on or off, and the overall result is an improvement by 40% of the total downforce compared to the Aventador SV Roadster version.’ once again emphasising this SVJ Roadster is the heir to the SV Roadster.

Interior

The interior design reflects the car’s aggressive exterior and racing pedigree, featuring a blend of premium materials, cutting-edge technology, and meticulous attention to detail.

Some key aspects of the Aventador SVJ Roadster’s interior design include:

  1. Sport Seats: The SVJ Roadster features carbon-fiber bucket seats with Alcantara upholstery, offering a perfect balance of comfort and support for spirited driving. The seats can be customized with various color options and contrast stitching for a personalized touch.
  2. Alcantara and Carbon Fiber: The interior is dominated by the use of Alcantara, a luxurious suede-like material, and carbon fiber, which gives it a race-inspired look and feel. Alcantara covers the dashboard, center console, door panels, and steering wheel, while carbon fiber accents can be found throughout the cabin.
  3. Digital Instrument Cluster: The SVJ Roadster features a fully digital instrument cluster that displays essential driving information, such as speed, RPM, gear position, and drive mode. The customizable display can also show performance data, such as lap times and G-forces, enhancing the driver’s connection to the car.
  4. Infotainment System: A touchscreen infotainment system sits at the center of the dashboard, offering easy access to navigation, media, and vehicle settings. The system also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing seamless smartphone integration.
  5. Climate Control: The dual-zone automatic climate control ensures that both the driver and passenger can set their preferred temperature, ensuring a comfortable environment during long drives or intense track sessions.
  6. Customization Options: Lamborghini’s Ad Personam program allows customers to personalize their Aventador SVJ Roadster with a range of bespoke options. This can include unique color combinations, materials, and trim pieces, ensuring that each vehicle is tailored to the owner’s preferences.

  1. Aggressive and Aerodynamic Bodywork: The SVJ Roadster has an aggressive and muscular design, with large air intakes, sharp lines, and sculpted surfaces. The car features an advanced aerodynamics system called Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA), which helps to maximize downforce and reduce drag. This system includes an active front splitter, rear wing, and large air vents on the front hood and side panels.
  2. Removable Hardtop: The Roadster version of the Aventador SVJ features a lightweight, two-piece removable carbon-fiber hardtop. This allows drivers to experience open-air driving and enjoy the impressive sound of the V12 engine.
  3. Unique SVJ Design Elements: The Aventador SVJ Roadster features several unique design elements that differentiate it from the standard Aventador, such as the “SVJ” logo on the rear fenders, special wheel designs, and a more pronounced rear diffuser.
  4. LED Lighting: The SVJ Roadster features Y-shaped LED daytime running lights at the front, while the rear taillights also have a distinctive Y-shape, which is a signature Lamborghini design cue. These lights not only look striking but also provide excellent visibility.

Keep in mind the Ad Personam studio can create a truly bespoke Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster these days, just about shade imaginable is possible on this new V12, not only on the outside, but also on the inside, where you can opt for the more comfortable, electronically adjustable seats instead of the stunning, but harsh carbon fiber lightweight seats found in the show car on the interior every part is available in leather or Alcantara as requested by the customer various stitching options and carbon fiber parts are possible.

Price

It would take until the Summer of 2019 before the first customer cars of the Aventador SVJ Roadster would be delivered, and at a price of €387,000 (or US$ 573,966) this car sure isn’t cheap, but most available on the market are being listed at a premium remember all 800 units were sold out quickly, so prices soon rose about MSRP.
