Robert Matthew van Winkle, popularly known as Vanilla Ice, recently uploaded a video in which he shared details of his purchase of a Lamborghini Murcielago from Fred Fishback, who is a car collector and enthusiast. This particular car is special because 50 Cent, the famous rapper from the mid-90s, previously owned it.
Fred, the second owner of the Lamborghini Murcielago, shares an exciting story about the car while Vanilla Ice decides to purchase it from him. Later, Ice shares the entire conversation on his YouTube channel.
Fred’s Intriguing Encounter with 50 Cent’s Legendary Lambo
Fred claimed that the wheels of the car had scratches when he first bought it, to which Vanilla Ice replied that the scratches perhaps resulted from driving on the busy roads of New York City.
Fred also added that the dealer who sold the car to him disclosed that it had a certain celebrity status, as a famous rapper previously owned it. Fred said that he only knew one rapper during his prime, and he was Vanilla Ice.
However, after owning the car, he later became interested in 50 Cent and bought his New York Times bestselling book “From Pieces to Weight.” Despite the car’s dubious history, Fred still desired to purchase it.
Fred also said that when he took his vehicle to the Lamborghini dealership for an inspection, everyone got excited. They see Lamborghini daily, but seeing 50 Cent’s Lamborghini is rare and also special.
A Surprising Discovery Inside 50 Cent’s Lamborghini Murcielago
Fred also added that 50 Cent had forgotten something in his car. When he purchased the vehicle, he found a quarter and hoped to find another, but instead, he saw a white leather glove.
Fred really loved the car and enjoyed driving it. After purchasing the car, Fred’s only modification was a rear wing for additional downforce, which we now believe is unnecessary when driving on busy New York streets without an empty stretch. Meanwhile, 50 Cent’s Lamborghini Murcielago already had a Kreissie exhaust system.
History Of 50 Cent’s Legendary Custom Lamborghini Murcielago
Curtis James Jackson III, popularly known as 50 Cent, purchased the Lamborghini as a reward for recording his album “Get Rich or Die Trying.” During that time, the rapper painted all his cars, including the Rolls-Royce Ghost, in a shade he called “50 Blue.” However, the Italian automaker did not offer this color option, so the rapper customized the car and repainted it with his signature Blue color.
The Lamborghini Murcielago: On the Road to Classic Status
The Lamborghini Murcielago is gradually becoming a classic car. Introduced in 2001 as the successor to the Diablo, the Coupe was followed by the Roadster in 2003—rapper 50 Cent used to own one of these cars.
The Murcielago had a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produced 572 horsepower (580 metric horsepower) and 479 pound-feet (479 Newton-meters) of torque. It could go from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 3.8 seconds and had a top speed of 207 mph (333 kph).
Vanilla Ice’s Diverse Collection: From 50 Cent’s Lamborghini Murcielago to Mustang
Vanilla Ice is a car enthusiast who owns a Ferrari F8 Spider painted in Avorio (Ivory). He has also owned a “good old Mustang,” which he calls his “baby,” since the early 1990s. He has restored it once and plans to restore it again.
