The Essence of the Renewed Contract

The recent agreement between Automobili Lamborghini and the unitary trade union representative, FIOM CGIL and FIM CISL, came to fruition following an internal referendum. This process saw near-unanimous employee approval, underscoring the collective support for the new changes. Central to this renewal are two pivotal elements: a comprehensive revision of working hours and a promise of 500 permanent hires by 2026.

Automobili Lamborghini’s Corporate Contract Renewal: A Historic Agreement with Innovative Features

December’s draft agreement laid the foundation for this final accord, which is recognized for its highly innovative features. The changes, particularly concerning working hours, are set to be implemented between late 2024 and early 2025. This pilot project aims to assess the feasibility and alignment of these changes with all company processes. An expert committee evaluation will follow a year of testing to ensure the sustainability of the new work organization.

Stephan Winkelmann’s Vision for the Future

Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini’s Chairman and CEO, expressed immense pride in reaching this historic agreement. He emphasized the company’s dedication to employees’ welfare and continuous efforts to create an attractive work environment. Lamborghini’s pioneering spirit in signing such a groundbreaking agreement was highlighted, with a clear focus on enhancing productivity and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for future talents, especially in the face of challenges brought by electrification and digitization.

Negotiation Complexity and Employee-Centric Changes

The year-long negotiation process underlined the complexity of the subjects covered. The agreement introduces radical changes in work-life balance, offering greater flexibility and restructuring company hours. The primary objective is to harmonize employee well-being with productivity and economic potential. A differentiated shift pattern for production staff will allow alternating four-day and five-day weeks, granting additional days off. Non-production employees will benefit from an improved flexible working hours system, including additional paid leave and remote working options.

Umberto Tossini’s Insights on the Negotiation and Agreement

Umberto Tossini, Chief People, Culture & Organization Officer at Automobili Lamborghini, shared his satisfaction in concluding such a complex negotiation. He highlighted the innovative content of the agreement, which effectively redesigns the shift and working-time system while respecting the company’s entrepreneurial spirit. Tossini emphasized the centrality of people in the organization, valuing professional and generational differences and reaffirming Lamborghini’s belief in the importance of employee motivation and well-being.

Promoting Diversity, Inclusion, and Parenting Support

This agreement goes beyond mere working conditions. It introduces specific measures to protect diversity and promote inclusion. Enhancements in protections for contract labor, improved individual rights, and company support for parenting, including economic support for maternity/paternity leave, are notable features. These measures align with Lamborghini’s commitment to its employees’ overall quality of life.

A Commitment to Employee Growth and Recruitment

Significantly, this agreement includes a direct and indirect personnel recruitment plan. The plan envisages 500 new employees with permanent contracts by December 2026, a testament to Lamborghini’s growth trajectory and vision for the future. This initiative coincides with the company’s development agreement with the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy and Invitalia, recently approved by the Emilia Romagna Region. The recruitment plan gains importance when considering over 1,000 permanent hires made by the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese in the last decade.
